I've only ever bought 2 graphics cards, i won't bore you with the details of the cards that i got with all my previous computers.

A few years back i had a Geforce 3 Ti200 which had 64 MB of RAM and was generally OK.

2 years back i got a Saphire Ati Radeon 9800Pro Atlantis, which was 128MB and a very good card.

My new computer (which arrives tomorrow!) will have a GeForce 7800GTX 256 MB and will be a rediculous advance over the 9800Pro.

I have a 9800 Pro (not atlantis though).

Reccomendations for a £150 graphics card anyone? Will i get much better than a 9800 pro for that money?

What are your graphics cards? Mine is a ATI Radeon 9550, I have attached the stats that PC Wizard got about it. ;)
I believe I have the same card as you. ATI 9550 Radeon. Plays Half Life 2, Sims2, Roller coaster 3, Age of EMpires 3, and any other game on it with no problems. All on the highest settings. I will be trying it with F.E.A.R. after christmas to really put it to the test. :)
I already have the game but the GF doesnt want me to open it until after christmas.
I have pics of the graphics card somewhere on this site.

1st Computer: 9800 Pro AGP 128mb
2nd Computer: X850XT PCI-X 256mb

first video card...voodoo3 2000 PCI...a whopping 16MB memory capacity...the dust on it now has literally attached itself to it now

current video card, Ati Radeon 9800pro 256MB...gets kind of hot but runs like a charm :)

Nvidia GeForce Go5700. In a desktop PC.

I forgot about that #17. In my old pc i still have the Voodo 3000 16mb. It was awesome when it came out!

Yes, It also runs UT 2004 on the heighest settings, very well. I got it on the highest res my monitor can handle, and on AS-Confexia, it runs on aout 30-40 FPS. On my old settings, it could run about 50-70 FPS.

Whoa that game looks awesome. Reminds me of BF2. I have to quit loooking at other games. I have FEAR in less than a week and that will keep me busy enough. Along with my other 200 games for multiple systems.

prolly not too good for your processor fan

and yes, i take better care of my computer now than i did the last one...i dust it like once a month

Ah dust.

Yes i generally dust my PC once a month. The combo of hairdryer in one hand and vacuum cleaner in the other works very well :D

I have a GeForce 6800LE-AGP 256Mb bought on donbenni's recommendation. Just put it in today, not pushed it yet, but the slowdowns gone on any recent games I have that were pushing my old card.

Yay! Seriously, try looking around for ways to unlock it, you won't regret the speed increase it provides :)

Eh...my old Athlon Thunderbird (R.I.P.) system had an NVidia GeForce4 MX440.

This comp I'm on now has an S3 Inc. Trio 64V2.

In the next few days we're getting a new comp. I'm not sure on the specs yet though.

How do you check your FPS???

GeForce FX 5200 128mb. But it stopped working yesterday, again. And I won't bother my friend to try and fix it once more, so I'm looking for a new video card now.

or in ut:
tab key to bring up the console -> STAT FPS -> enter.
If you do that in the original UT, it brings up the poly count, I can-not do that in ut-2004. :D

BTW, FRAPS is a resource hog, use game cam, it is cheaper, and takes up less memory. You have to use modifyer keys though. for example, it is \+R to record. ;)

I dont have UT but I would still like to check into the FRAPS or game cam. That way I can also make videos. Currently I can only get videos with my dazzle of PS2 and xbox games. I heard Fraps allows you to make videos right from your PC. :)

You get this card a long time ago?
Last christmas. So far I have never had a problem. As long as it plays FEAR next week I will be happy.
Plays Half Life 2, Sims2, Roller coaster 3, Age of EMpires 3, and any other game on it with no problems. All on the highest settings.

Radeon 9600 Pro. Overclocked it from 400/600 to 520/620 stably. It was cheap when I got it but obviously now it's not exactly great. I don't need great graphics on this PC though, so I'm not bothered.

Like many people in here, Sapphire Radeon 9800Pro Atlantis 128MB.

I will upgrade hopefuly in the next month to an X1800XL 👍
