More limitations, eh?
Why doesn't that suprise me in the least?

Feeling the same way here. The only thing that PD actually warned us about was the graphics, which I was okay with. It took a monumental effort from the community to get an answer out of them on the cockpit view, and now people who have the game are telling us there's more limits we never knew of. :indiff:

Trailers showing only Premiums and then 1000 CARS. It's false advertising - there's no other words for it.

By the way, the GTAuto video Tekken90 posted proves that you can neither change the wheels on a standard car nor paint them.

As I said, 'You can not change the rims on a standard model car' is so friggin' clear cut, you basically had to try to not understand it from the get go.

And, as expected, there's rear wings for the Civic. That's it. And I doubt there will be anything more for any other standard car.

Standards.

So, uhm, what are people whining and complaining about again? The standards look great in my opinion, not up to the level of premium cars (of course) but DEFINITELY up to par with what I expect visually for the current generation of games.

The way people have been acting, you'd think that standards would look no better than their GT4 counterparts but that obviously is not the case; they look quite nice. 👍

My opinion on the debate? While those who can't see past the inability to visually modify or go photo traveling with the standards are busy NOT enjoying the game because of stubborness, I shall be enjoying every little bit of the game in a week's time, both standards and premiums. Regardless of classification, every single car in the game is going to be as fun to drive as they have always been, and that's all that matters to me.

Granted, the standard cars look pretty decent 👍
But still... Features. Lacking.

Agreed, that wheel thing is a another blow but they look pretty good I bet they look better in photomode.

Windows are more transparent than I thought. The worse part of standards seems to be the trim around the windows and wheel well if applicable (Toyota VOLTZ @ Tsukuba). Other than that, they look good!

Now cue the whining and moaning about no damage from the smash-em-up, demolition-derby, American crowd....

Thing that gets me is, if you took a blown out GT4 picture through a cell cam and posted it, you probably couldn't make out the difference.

I don't get why the direct feed stream of standards from PD was suppopsedly too poor to tell standards looked bad, but then a cam off a TV screen that washes out pretty much all detail is enough to tell they look good?

Oh don't worry, I'll be buying the game too when it comes out and will no doubt enjoy it. But since I'm spending my hard-earned money on it, you'll have to forgive me my criticism regarding standard cars. ;)

Oh no, criticism is always needed and I'm not singling anyone out here... But there is a fine line between criticism and spewing the same garbage out over and over with little to no discussion. And as of late, GTPlanet has crossed over that line.

Well, you certainly have a point. However, the reflections and overall lighting do appear to help to cover some of the flaws quite nicely.

Then again, with all the disappointing news recently, I'm pretty eager to jump on anything positive about GT...

Exactly. Some people here are simply seeking for minutiae to moan about.

Maybe focus on what is in the game instead of what isn't or should have been.

Yep i was worried about standard cars but not anymore.

The cars in the GT4 showrooms looks great as they had the 3D wheels. But in game the 2D wheels let the overall effect down.

But add 3D wheels during gameplay, GT5 dynamic lighting and shaders and these standard cars look completely up to date with current gen games.
The standard cars (that Civic) looks right in place with the track graphics. Premium is just another level.

Looks great.

they don't look bad and on an hd in your room rhey'll surely look better. the only problem is the cockpit view.

Very adult way to "discredit" those who have a different opinion on a subject, just call them haters, eh?
Bravo Sir, that persuaded me immediately to start loving the "undead"....yeah right.
If you want to label me (and others) as a hater doesn't suddenly change my view one bit, in fact I couldn't care less what you choose to call me, just have a different opinion not based on hatred but on my personal perception and preference, if you can't see that and judge me on a different view than yours, who's the hater anyway?
