I think we've seen evidence of a bonnet view from GamesCom. The Standards might be stuck with the old roof cam, though.

One of the new Citroen Race Car videos seems to show a bonnet cam. That or it's just the roof cam, just that the car's so low it seems like the former ;).

As for rain effects, most of it is screen-space anyway, so there's no reason that a similar droplet-based effect could be used in other views - including for the Standards. This has been done in other games - someone even just mentioned PGR4... They could even throw in a wiper effect, just for us. :dopey:

That might be a last-minute addition, because so far, droplets only affect the screen in cockpit view :-/. All the videos showing rain have clear screens when driven from any other view.

It is (also) my opinion that changing the colour of the Standards might be possible; the legato colour changes in GT3's menus are a clue to this possibility. It wouldn't look the same if it were simply blending different coloured textures (details would darken). I'm not saying this means it will be in GT5, but it's certainly possible, especially given the Standards seem to have the correct colours in GT5 already.

Hmmm, I forgot about that. Again, I really hope I'm wrong about Standards being colour-changeable, so that a lot of my fleet can be a similar colour for online antics 👍

Wheels, except stock wheels on Standards, possibly, should be fine, too.

I feel like the Standard's stock wheels should be fine. They're the fully 3D ones, like Photomode, not the paper rims of normal races in GT4. They hold up fairly well, at least as good as the Standard bodies. If I can repaint stock wheels as well as aftermarket ones, well, I have two words: Hell, and Yes.

...

Looking at the videos from TGS so far, I'm now having second thoughts about, and am concerned for, both those points I made earlier! :scared:

Standard cars!!!! Rabble, rabble, rabble!!!!:)
Seriuosly though, Im a little dead inside!!!:guilty:

:indiff: i am indifferent about the whole thing now, i would happily take the game if it only had standards. in fact i would happily get GT4 off PSN and play it right now if they had it :guilty:

no hood cam, it's always the roof cam, is just different the position due to the different heights of the roofs. In the citroen gt is like a bonnet view, but watch the subaru or the c4, you don't even see a little piece of the bonnet.

Well at least now people can see that PD haven't been wasting time. Just look at what GT5 is offering. Had they created premium models for ALL cars, that surely would have taken 5 years in itself.

If its taken this long to get 200 of 1000 cars premium, I dont think we'll be for this Earth when GT6 is done:sly:
However, it's still not certain how exactly many playable Premium cars will be in the game. If the famous 6 months/car figure is correct, then with 30 3D car modelers in 6 years PD should have managed to make way more than 200 completely different cars (because duplicates, of which japanese cars in GT4 had plenty, should not take much to add once the "base" model is done). Please note that if we exclude duplicates and similar versions, GT4 roughly had somewhere about 350+ unique cars.

The exact number of premium cars might be a final surprise like the number of unique tracks.

maybe GT6 will be all premiums!

With the amount of development time required this is not likely. If GT6 takes around 4 years we will likely see around 200 cars(not necessarily all converted cars) added to the premium car list. Does anyone else find it weird that we are constantly talking about GT6 when we are still waiting on GT5? It think it goes to show that many people are bummed over the standard/premium issue. Just look at the 800 cars as a bonus.

Audi R8 LMS is standard and was not in GT4

All Standard cars are cars from previous GT-games ( GT4 and GT-PSP ), any new additions ( and some cars which were previously featured before ) are Premium.
There are no new Standard cars.

This is what I wrote^, hence the mention of GT-PSP? Please read before replying, the R8 LMS and the Lamborghini Countach were both modelled for GT-PSP and they were build ( or already build ) the same way as the GT4 models so therefore both will be Standard and were previously in another GT game, not new additions to the series.

Sweet(not that its standard, but that its a new car).
Maybe theres hope yet for the R15/ R15 plus/ B7 RS4 etc. etc. (Not much I warrant though).

The only way the R15 or any new Audi will be in GT5 is if they are Premium, it's quite simple really as any new additions to the series are modelled in a new way, which is called Premium ( to distinguish itself from Standard ).
Once all cars are modelled to this new level and the previous assets are dropped I guess they will drop the Premium tag as well.

i just hope that they have some new cars.. new as in 2009-2011.. becase with GT4 most cars were 2005-and under..
Erm... GT4 was released in '05, so those cars were new at that time. :dunce:

And there are many '09 and '10 cars already comfirmed for GT5, so what's your point?

which 09 and 10 cars are announced for GT5? and the 05 cars in GT4 were mostly, if not all, considered "concept".. like the FX45, Mazda 6, etc..
