ZR1 RM - Awful Car

My Indy average is 4:00, my best is 3:54.

I have not done any major tunings.

A bit of overkill on that race don't you think?

I used an S2000 with 300hp and lapped them several times. Or was it the RM Lotus ? I forget but either way 300hp in either of these cars was a lot more than needed in this event.

I don't see what that's got to do with the topic, or with you for that matter... if you're really interested in how I'm choosing to play the game I'll tell you that I chose the Vette to get the event over and done with, not to make a close or intersting race.

The tune is good for anyone who's interested in the original topic of making the Vette a nice car to drive.

Just that the car without any tune can destroy everything in that race.

Well after a lot of recommendation I bought the ZR1 and RM'd it. I have tried it on 'like the wind' and GT Allstars. Its absolutely awful, its extremely slow compared to my GT-R and handles a lot worse. So the credits i was saving for a PROPER race car i have now wasted. Well looks like a few more pointless races to win the 800k I have just blown.

My ZR1 RM(800hp) did 6.09 at Nurburgring, that's not what I call slow:)

The point isn't what car I used, the point is the tune posted in the tuning forum makes the Vette a nice car to drive.

Now go away and play the game how you want to and leave others to play it how they want to.
 
I Race modded the z06 yesterday and with stock HP, I beat the American Challenge in Expert....yes with only 541hp and RS tires, had to draft to the front, then basically not brake or downshift much at all. This car is awesome sauce, I just wished that PD gave us more options on the paint scheme, seriously they could have added like 5 or 6 schemes to choose from.

I added power and took a joy ride on the 24hr Nurburgring in the rain, cold tires will get you killed in that car. When you brake if you let off too early the rear end will come around on you.

OT I purchased an FGT yesterday too, those cars are like squirrels.
 
I bought it fairly early on and I fell in love with it. The car is fast, handles, and just feels good to drive. Plus mine can lay down some rubber!

Dude chill. I don't care how you play. I just pointed out that the car was overkill. Maybe your tune is great but in that race it would not matter as it is way more car than needed so even if the tune was poor it would still be an easy win.

Now if you won the all stars with it that would imply a good tune or a good driver or both.

Not meaning any offense here just saying...
 
It comes in extremely handy in the American Championship in Extreme. Wins easily. And if you can stand the monotony, that's a great credit grind as well. If you max out the modifications and use one of the tunes on the site here, you can win the American Championship in B-spec as well.

^^^ This. Sounds like op is just having issues figuring out his car.
 
The problem is that "Like the Wind" is also open to the top end Group C racers like the R8, R90C, C9, Etc. The Corvette will never be at the same level. I have a RMed regular 690hp Z06, and it works great on the american championship on indy. I get 98K credits plus between 4k or 5k XP. The only problem is that it sounds like a V6.

The AI drive really slow, the ZR-1 can shave off 2-3 seconds per lap against the AI with no bother.
 
The ZR1 is one of the best cars ingame. I just love it. 905HP and around 3:37 min for 5 rounds Indy.
 
Just a friendly reminder for those looking to RM the ZR1: Don't buy all the upgrades and then RM it, as the RM option already puts a lot of the upgrades from the tuning shop into the car.

Learned that the hard way...
 
My ZR1 was terrible too, then i noticed the race soft tyres weren't equipped... needless to say made a huge difference!
 
ZR1 was the best purchase I ever made in this game, both in stock and RM forms.
I'm not a Corvette fan at all in real life, but this thing is a blast and just kills the competition. I think I've used it in like 5 different series so far, great bang for the buck 👍
Mine's fully modded after the RM conversion, but all I've done for setup is tweak the wing settings a bit.
Each to his own I guess...
 
The problem is that people think they will beat the top Group C pure racing machines with a street car upgrated to race car. Not even if you get a full racing GT2 or even a GT1 machine like the Oreca Viper, C5R Corvette, Nissan R390 GT1 or similars, you´ll beat cars like the R90C, 787B, Sauber C9, to mention a few... The RM Corvette, regardless if its a Z06 or a ZR1 is a great racing car within its own class. Like I´ve mentioned before, I have no problems ripping the doors out of cars of the same class without too many effort in my RM Z06 with around 690HP and soft racing tyres. I think I spent a total of 300K including the car itself, and thats what I call a great deal!!
 
I've been saving for this car since I first started playing this game two weeks ago. By no means am I trying to sound like a fanboy but this car has earned it's worth plus more. I used the tune "Sail IC" posted and have had nothing but success with this car. Even in B-Spec, despite having to babysit Bob just a little bit (keeping his temper mid range) in the American Championship. This is the car I used to grind for the FGT prior to the 1.05 update and the car that's helped me attain the Multi-millionaire trophy.

You'll be pissed to learn that it's easy to win with the Mazda Furai you probably already won.
You'll also be pissed to learn I can easily win with any RM Vette - Z06 or ZR1, with only around 700hp, maybe less.
Hopefully you were smart enough to at least gear it properly and add all down force.
 
Make sure you put racing tires on it. Once you RM it, it still has the sports tires on it. I think that is one of my top 3 handling cars in the game. You do still have to tweak it to make it drive to your style. You can't just RM it and all of a sudden its on rails.

Nice challenge... reminds me of trying to beat the LMP's in DTM cars back in GT4.

Got punted by the AI in the 2nd corner at Trail Mountain, the R8 got past me and I couldn't get him back. 2nd

Won comfortably at Grand Valley and Nurburgring.

Won at Cape Ring, but only after a long battle with the C9... I made a mistake on lap one and lost 3s. Took me 3 laps to catch him back up but eventually passed him in the loop and pulled away to win by 2s.

Only manged 7th at Tokyo... this one might not be possible to win in the Vette without some major blocking as the straights are too long to prevent the superior power of the LMP cars blasting them past.

My ZR1 is great, fully tuned but not race modded, my Z06 IS race modded and buddy it is an asphalt animal, Vettes rock. The Z06 trounces everything on Indy. Like the wind was handled rather easily by my 908 though.

100% right about the tires, without em, you just wasted some money.
 
Your tune must be messed up. The ZR1 can destroy Gone Like The Wind. If you set the tune correct you will be able to stay in 6th gear the entire race . You will then be hitting 225 on the straights and 206 on the turns. Good luck .... HP should be 905 .
 
The zr1 is a great car for the credits. I won the like the wind and GT all stars with it using a DS3 and still use it every once in a while.

The ZR1 RM is a great ride! Doing a RM doesn't turn every car into an instant winner, but it does open up all of the adjustments to let you fully tune the car and get a LOT more out of it. I'm quite fond of the car and use it a lot during my money grinding! :sly:
 
OK at risk of being Devil's advocate here, there does seem to be a little fanboyism, I see a lot of threads saying the ZR-1 is awesome, as long as you race mod it and throw x, y and z at it, and it will go 225mph and spin its wheels. That's great but seriously there are dozens of cars that will do that, though admittedly less that will beat the American Muscle event easily.

Personally I was able to do this with free cars or cars I already had though, my NASCAR Ford Fusion was fine in A-Spec, then IIRC i won a Ford GT LM Race Car which easily wins on both tracks in B-Spec (the Fusion was struggling on the oval in B-Spec)

Not dissing the Corvette, for sure it is a quick car in any world but you don't need to spend 1000s of credits on buying and modding it for American Muscle (unless you don't have a Stock Car) and you definitely shouldn't need it for Like the Wind.
