ZR1 RM - Awful Car

My wife always says about people who can't drive or park their big cars: "If you can't drive 'em, don't buy 'em'. I guess the same goes for the ZR-1.

It's probably the best and fastest car you can get in GT5 for the money. It completely destroys the competition in Like The Wind and other races. It does need a proper tune to get the best out of it though.

Well looks like I'll have to get the ZR1 then. This game isn't accurate at all. They give the ZR1 downforce with RM but the Viper ACR that stock in real life has 1000lb ft of down force has non? Wth is that.

Also the ACR should have an RM mode if the ZR1 has one as in real lift there is an ACRX which is a real RM of the ACR. I use the ACR at Daytona in BSpec and because they didn't include it's real life downforce capabilities my idiot Bob brakes in turns to about 20-30mph slower than the competition even though it obliterated them on the straights. I got a 6sec lead with the ACR at Daytona before in B Spec just to watch my idiot give away the lead with the stupid braking and mysterious stabs of the brake pedal even on the straights. Oh well off to earn some dough for the ZR1 beast.

Btw in real life the ACR made mince meat out of both the ZR1 and GTR on the roadcources. Too bad its real life performance didn't make it to GT5. Gallardo as well.

Mine has over 950 hp and it handles very well - its the car I use to grind on the american league - indy track - I always finish the race with less than 15 seconds over the second.

Besides handling great its beautifull to look at and Im european by the way

That just goes to show that everyone has a diferent opinion and skill level.

You have to go after what you think you like not what others like

I think some opinions are related to skill, in the right hands ZR1 is awesome.

^^how do you have 950hp?? I just performed oil change and engine overhaul(after a few hours of Indy grinding and I can't get it over 905..still a beast in the mid 800s tho.

To the OP. If the zr1 rm isn't winning gt all stars or like the wind, you haven't bought all the parts for it. The RM doesn't apply all of the tuning parts. Using it in Like the Wind, I am usually in first place halfway through the first lap and just pull away from them after that. There have been a few times that one of the AI cars will spin me on the first lap. I can still catch them and win. The ZR1 RM is an absolute beast.

The ZR1 RM is a very useful car to have, and is very, very quick. I would hazard a guess at it being the fastest front engined car in the game. I'm pretty amazed that somebody could have one and not like it, and this is from an Australian who thinks America has made about 10 good cars total.

I beat like the wind with it bone stock. The standard 700 HP from the RM is plenty.

Well after a lot of recommendation I bought the ZR1 and RM'd it. I have tried it on 'like the wind' and GT Allstars. Its absolutely awful, its extremely slow compared to my GT-R and handles a lot worse. So the credits i was saving for a PROPER race car i have now wasted. Well looks like a few more pointless races to win the 800k I have just blown.

Did you bother to tuner it? It's by far my favorite non-race car (even tho its race modded). I have yet to find a car that handles as well and has its top speed and acceleration (that's not a race care).

I easily won both Like A Wind and GT All-stars with it. I suggest trying Sail IC's ZR-1 Tune, its great.

I thought it was overrated at first, but then I realised the RM didn't install all the tune mods. After adding it all, it destroyed pretty much everything. Just used it for the Dreamcar Championship and was fun to drive 👍

Wait, WHAT? You can install updates AFTER race modding it? I bought one yesterday, race modded it (nothing else) and won "Like the Wind" (was very close though and I had to copy some setup for indy from this board). Man, that's going to be the first thing I try when I get home :)

the engines power increases with the mileage and oil changes until it stops increasing and starts decreasing.

I have about 500 miles on my new one and about 1300 on my old one. (I wnated two in diferent colors :D)

Two points I'd like to add:

1. It needs to be tuned. Nearly all of the praise was coming from people who've tuned it properly.

2. The reason it was recommended is because it's one of the cheaper cars to use and one of the earliest available. Of course there are better cars around, but we all wanted to get grinding as soon as possible and that was the best option. Plus it'll also work on the American Indy, which the TC's GT-R will not.

You are doing something wrong.

Turn off TCS.

Lol I just bought this car and experienced the same issues. But after some upgrading and tweaking it's one of the fastest cars available for the famous Indy grinding track :D

A quick guide for people who just bought it:

1. First of all, Race Mod this car;
2. Buy every single upgrade available in the tuning shop;
3. Change the tyres to Racing:Soft;
4. Under Body/Chassis maximize the Downforce both Front and Rear;
5. Under Transmission set Max Speed to 400 km/h (~250 mp/h) (Mind you: this is the best setting for when you recently purchased this car and when it doesn't have a lot of mileage yet. The BHP increases over time, so you can gradually up the Max Speed accordingly)
6. Disable Traction Control, Skid Recovery Force, ASM

Have a good time earning 117.000 credits in 3:45 :D

Wow. I don't know what you did to it but it is a very good car. On Indy in the American Championship race I still have not found a car that can turn a faster lap and I have tried several. Properly setup the vette can turn 225mph + on that track in clean air and will turn lap times in the upper 41 second range.

I have no idea what GTR you were referring to but if it is a non race car version I would imagion that my Vette ZR1 RM will smoke it pretty much anywhere if the road is dry.

I disagree 100% Make sure u max tune it after the RM uppgrade.

I used max downforce and won like the wind with +15 sec.

Most overrated car in game and real life. So it can win like the wind, my 458 italia did that for me. Plus I didn't have to look at or drive a corvette.

OP should spend less time trying to validate his eurosnobbery and more time learning to drive and tune. There's nothing wrong with the car. Even without a wing or race mod it's one of my favorite cars in the game.

You didn't waste the money. You need this car for the American Championship. You'll need a purpose-built race car for "like the wind". I used the Toyota GT One (about 2M used). The GT One is also an all around killer GT car period. No car based on a road car chassis will be able to compete with the stickiness of those other GT cars.

I know alot of you want to go around bends with the pedal to the floor. Well you can go max speed around bends, you need to lay off the throttle abit. Like many cars with 800+HP, it needs to be respected. I am enjoying this car and winning everything I enter. So max speed everyone and lift your foot off the gas abit.

Actually you can drive the ZR1 RM flat out on Indy of course this requires proper tuning and a good line but it will hold at WOT and will turn laps in the mid to upper 41 second range when doing so.

My avg time for the event in the ZR1 is 3:38 best is 3:36 and my brother has managed a 3:34
