What type of engine has the ZZII??
In the specs doesn't appear. And it sounds like a RB26 Nissan Skyline.
Do you know it??
Thanks.

Here are some info on the Tommykaira ZZII. BTW - I think it's either a V8 or V12.

Powerplant: RB26DETT tuned to 400kw (If I'm not mistaken)

V16's were common years back with small flighter aircraft and the occasional dragster or insane race car....

its probably a 16V...16 valve....mind you seems far too fast a car just to have a 16V engine...

i read somewhere that the Zonda engine and the ZZ11 engine were made by Mercedes....

i know for a fact that the Zonda is a mercedes indisguise (despite it being Italian) coz i saw one for sale in last months listings in Classic cars...£300,000 second hand it was with a mercedes tuned V12 engine...

i dunno about the ZZ11...its a beast of an engine whatever it is..

The RB26DETT is a inline six nissan engine that was based on the RB20 used in standard R32 Skylines in is taken to 2.6 litre from 2.0 litre and given twin turbos, the engine is used in R32, R33, R34 GTR Skylines.
"RB" refers to engine model,
"26" refers to capacity,
"D" refers to Double overhead cams
"E" is electronic fuel injected
"TT" is Twin Turbo
same applys to other nissan engines

the new G35 Skyline will use a new VQ35DETT Twin turbo V6 engine, Basicly the same as the 350Z engine

by the way it is a inline 6 with 4 valves per cylinder so it has 24 valves (24V)

as seen in Gran Turismo these engines can produce large amounts of power 1000hp+

Check out that pic under18carbon published (the second one)....

it looks like the engine shares the same space as the driver..i.e. there is nothing seperating the engine from the cockpit.!

surely that must be noisy with a trememdous feeling of power!!

is must be awesome feeling that engine right at your back...

TS

i can see a barrier between the driver and engine

some sort of glass or perspex, with a black border

Idiosyncratic air intakes

Oh yeah? Lamborghini has been doing that for years!

TurboSmoke: It's common knowledge that the powerplant in the Zonda is an AMG-tuned 7.3L Mercedes V12. Are you suggesting that more of the car than this is Mercedes-built?

Ya, Zonda uses MB engines, AMG ones.

Hi Giles....nah i am not suggesting that....i just says that its a Mercedes engine....despite the car being italian and all the quality engine manufatcurers in Italy, they use a German engine..

maybe my crappy little screen cant pick out the perspex patrition...looks clear to me...

still, must be cool having that engine there...(i could be wrong)..

its written ii but i think you say zz two. as for the zonda, definitely mb engine, sounds great. and with the demise of lamborghini (being sold to the germans), it looks like ferrari are the only 'italian' engine maker left. unless bugatti is still italian owned...

the zzii looks beautiful though doesn't it? i can't believe a car like that has managed to make it out of japan 'unharmed' by the japanese designers heh. i think they basically just took the maclaren f1, pinched it here and there and were left with a zz2, excellent

cadi made a v 16 like in the 40s and chevy made one that you can buy in 2000 it was not in any cars though but the one made bu cadi was in a car

Its actually a RB27DETT its the same engine from the Skyline the RB26DETT but they like tuned it. Its a Inline 6 also producing 550ps.

In the picture of the guy showed, it's written on the engine box : RB26

Can't It be more clear?
