iRacing is set to add another heavy hitter to it’s current car roster, with a certain Italian manufacturer joining the current crop of racers available to players. The firm in question is none other than Ferrari, who are set to bring the 488 GTE to the subscription-based racing simulator.

The confirmation itself isn’t an official release by any iRacing Social Media channels but rather a tweet, composed by Steve Myres – the Executive Vice President at iRacing:

The magnificent 488 GTE has participated in both the 2016 and 2017 24 Hours of Daytona events. It also took on the 24 Hours of Le Mans last year, managing a second place finish in the LMGTE Pro class for team Risi Competizione.

The circuit racer is based off the road-going Ferrari 488 which has appeared in titles like Driveclub, Assetto Corsa and the Forza series to date. The GTE-spec car has yet to appear in any other simulators or racing games outside of mobile title Real Racing 3. An arrival in iRacing would mark it’s first true appearance in a racing simulator.

The 488 GTE hasn’t appeared on a platform outside of mobile yet.

The latest news on iRacing has focused on updates for the upcoming dirt racing, a new oval circuit coming in March and the first Porsche representation with the arrival of the 911 GT3 Cup. Since the above tweet is the only revealed information so far, we’ll have to wait and see what further updates Myres and the team have in regard to a release window. One thing is for sure, iRacing fans have a lot to look forward to in the coming months.
