Watch Live: 2025 Gran Turismo World Series Round 2 – Berlin

After a gap across the summer, the second of the four live events in the 2025 Gran Turismo World Series is here, with the German capital Berlin hosting its first ever in-person event.

The 2025 format mirrors 2024’s, comprising three preliminary rounds — all at brand new venues — taking place over a single day before the showpiece World Final in December. That means it’s going to be a busy day in Berlin, with only a brief gap between the Manufacturers Cup, starting at 1400 UTC, and the Nations Cup three hours later on.

As with 2024, the 12 drivers in the Nations Cup will remain constant across the four rounds, while the Manufacturers Cup will bring four different line-ups for the 12 qualified marques. With some exceptions, London brought the Asia-Oceania drivers for each marque together, while Berlin will bring the turn of the Europe/Middle East/Africa (EMEA) racers. The third round in Los Angeles involves the Americas region finalists, while the final in Fukuoka will have all three drivers from each of the brands racing as a team.

There’s World Series points on offer for every event, with up to six in each of the three preliminary rounds before the bulk of the points come in the Final itself, so once again every race has something at stake this year.

These events also offer an opportunity to catch a glimpse at new game content, and the Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo will be present in the metal (or at least in the flax-based composite) for the event. We might catch a look at what the next game update could bring too.

Gran Turismo World Series 2025 R2 – Berlin – Manufacturers Cup

The Manufacturers event is the hardest to draw any conclusions on form, given both the custom Balance of Performance (BOP) designed for the race and the fact it’s all-change in the driving seats.

It’s a pretty brutal-looking field though, with all seven champion brands taking part and one bringing a Manufacturers Cup champion driver — not to mention the three Nations Cup champions racing for their preferred manufacturer.

There’s a bit of a twist in the EMEA round though in that six of the drivers — half the field — will be pulling a double-duty with Nations Cup: BMW’s Thomas Labouteley, Honda’s Valerio Gallo, Mazda’s Pol Urra, Porsche’s Jose Serrano, Subaru’s Kylian Drumont, and Toyota’s Kaj de Bruin.

Subaru, one of three double-champion marques, is currently leading the way after Takuma Miyazono’s stunning last-lap pass of Seiya Suzuki’s BMW in London. Mazda rounds out the current points podium, but with six points for the win and points for the top six it’s still very closely contested.

Even defending champion brand Lexus, which had a point-free weekend in London, isn’t an outside bet especially with the veteran Giorgio Mangano joining the squad. We’d take a look at Mercedes too, who’ll have the only Americas region sub in Lucas Bonelli, and there’s some exciting newcomers in at Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, and Nissan.

The racing will comprise a qualifying session at the Nurburgring 24hr circuit in the brands’ Gr.3 cars — the same as the currently active Time Trial in GT7 — before a six-lap race of the same track. All three racing compounds will be required, meaning (at least?) two trips to pit lane to swap and there could be some interesting strategies at play.

You’ll be able to tune into the stream from 1400 UTC on Saturday, September 20 (convert to your time here) and along with the usual additional language streams with commentary in French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish, there’s a return for Chinese commentary that made a debut in London, and live-timing stream returns too.

You’ll have up until the final race starts to select who you think will win the race for the chance to earn 1,000,000cr — so feel free to watch qualifying first — and watching any amount of the stream through your Gran Turismo 7 game will award you a Gr.3 car in-game. Which one will depend on which marque wins the race, and it’ll be delivered on Tuesday October 7.

Gran Turismo World Series 2025 R2 – Berlin – Nations Cup

We’ve already had a glimpse at form for the 2025 championship through the London event, courtesy of the same dozen players contesting all of the live events this year, and it was a fascinating look at that.

Defending, and only solo double-, champion Takuma Miyazono barely got a look in during the race in the X2019s at Grand Valley in a rare off-day, with the race dominated by Jose Serrano and Pol Urra. The Spanish duo have a title apiece, coming from the 2023 Nations Cup which adopted a one-season only team format, and were separated by under a third of a second at the flag as they gun for a solo crown.

While it was a big margin of victory, there were other drivers in the mix throughout. Kaj de Bruin was probably the most entertaining, on an offset strategy, but Kylian Drumont, 2021 champion Valerio Gallo, and Takuma Sasaki were thorns throughout. It wasn’t a great day for the Oceania and Americas drivers, who filled the bottom four spots, so Berlin gives a good opportunity to erase that memory.

This time out the event will see the racers qualify the X2019 Competition at Red Bull Ring to set the grid for a 12-lap qualifying sprint race at Monza (skipping the first chicane) in the Porsche 962C. That will then set the grid for the final, back in the X2019s at Red Bull but over 30 laps — and with no tire swap requirements, but wet weather rubber being available. Is that rain over the Styrian hills?

You can tune into the Nations Cup stream from 1700 UTC on Saturday, September 20 (convert to your time here). Live timing is also available, as well as streams in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish.

You can also select your choice of winner in the Nations Cup, with the chance to earn 1,000,000cr for getting it right. Again you have right up until the final race starts to make your pick, so go ahead and watch qualifying and the qualifying race first to get a bead on form. Tuning into the stream for even a glimpse through the special tile in Gran Turismo 7 will award you the Porsche 962, dressed in special Nations Cup colors — appropriate to the race winner — on Tuesday October 7.
