Snoop Dogg to Headline at 2012 GT Awards, November 1 at Palms Resort in Las Vegas

Other October 29th, 2012 by Jordan

Hip-hop star Snoop Dogg (or “Snoop Lion”, as he now prefers to be called) will be headlining at the 2012 Gran Turismo Awards, to be held at the Palm Resort’s Rain Nightclub in Las Vegas, this Thursday, November 1st at 9:30pm.

Kazunori Yamauchi will also be announcing the “Best in Show” at the event, among the finalists in the five categories, Best Truck or SUV, Best Hot Rod, Best Domestic Automobile, Best European Import and Best Asian Import.

The overall winner, of course, will be playable in a future Gran Turismo title.

If you or someone you know is exhibiting a car at SEMA, there is still time to submit your eligible vehicle for the competition until October 31, 2012.

“Gran Turismo is the most real-deal driving game I have ever experienced,” said Snoop Lion. “I have been a PlayStation fan for years, and am excited to help make this 10th year celebration for the Gran Turismo Awards into an ‘off the hook’ affair.”

GTPlanet will be reporting live from the event, so stay tuned for more coverage from SEMA throughout the week!

To all the trolls out there sitting in front of your computer screens at home, patting yourself on the back. Thinking how funny or clever you are by acting like a 6 year old spitting bs just to annoying you need to stop riding your own d’s.
The world does not revolve around one person, if you don’t like Snoop then its of no interest to you but there are those out there who do and dammit I am one of those who ARE interested to know. I don’t comment like a whingin f’n bitch when I find an article on here that is of no interest to me. I just move on because I am one of many – and that may appeal to them.
Let’s be constructive in our critism not a bunch of whinging tools. This will allow the PD peeps who monitor this to get to the meat of the sandwhich and stops them from wading through the BS to try to deliver what we all the…..The real driving simulator!

I doubt “PD peep” read the comments section on article looking for content to add to GT5 or GT6. There are dedicated forums for that already.

Chill bo-snizzle-dizzle-wizzle…”whinging” is spelled “whining” by the way (for future ranting reference)

@ bprred6 – I believe that they would still check these areas as well, your opinion may differ but that is a wholistic approach to take and believe it or I believe PD are a company that are their vision just differs from a lot of other peoples.

@ Turboprop – Ta for the correction but it’s unrequired I know what I wrote & what I meant. whinge/(h)winj/Verb: Complain persistently and in a peevish or irritating way. Noun: An act of complaining in such a way. Synonyms: whine same meaning different choice of words. You say potato, I po-ta-to. No need to chill brah, caps lock was off by choice.

Maybe instead of creating a good gran turismo game and dragging on it’s glory for 3 years through really bad and overpriced DLCs they can make GT6!!!!!!!

A dollar isn’t over priced. Though I’d agree with the bad part.

Of course but considering GT5 is making the PS3 quake in it’s 6 year old boots, not bloody likely that GT6 will land on PS3 will be a waste of an opportunity to make a big splash with increased grids and new courses, full day night for plethora of 24HR races on possibly different courses(Spa, Nurb, Le Mans, Bathurst, etc.) I can wait for the next system as PS3 can barely deal with 16 cars in wet weather without getting choppy as hell.

I am willing to bet that Sony wouldn’t dare to waste the biggest selling franchise on PS on an outgoing system, watch at see GT6 land within the launch window of PS4 complete with FH free roam minus the cheese, and no standard cars either, lol. Till then enjoy GT5 because it is probably only going to be supported by DLC. It’s only common sense to not release a GT game so late into this cycle with PS4(Orbis) rumored to be in dev hands already, final dev kits to be given out early next year. PD would rather continue working on GT6 whilst only releaseing DLC of cars that will already be scanned and prepared for GT6 but will work with GT5 as well. They did say that they went back to the drawing board with information collection and took them at the highest level they can and only downgraded it to work within the constraints of PS3 and it’s bottlenecks of RAM and Bandwidth.

Snoop will do literally anything for a buck, he just did a stunt with Tekken as well, i guess these Japanese companies think he has some sort of relevance or pulling power in 2012 LOL

Cool so nothing related to GT5/6 or the franchise. Just Snoop hosting an event that Kaz is judging a car for a GT award. The only link to GT.
Nice to see he’s still pimping and not surprised as he likes his custom cars (he has many, Just like Shaq does)

WOW i hope its something original like a GT-R with snoop dogg or snoop lion on the side ,man that would be the most coolest thing ever ,can you even imagine it ,a nissan GT-R painted in royal blue with gold lettering with snoop dogg ,it would be so fresh and different ,it would be so cool to have a garage of a 1000 cars and 100 GT-R ……..maybe the next game should be called NISSAN GT-R and you could sell other non nissan cars as DLC for a change

They’re too young to remember GT3, can’t you tell by how ridiculous the comments actually are? Always something to complain about that will never change. Snoop was most likely asked to do that show, it’s not like celebrities are like some of you who think that to get this he had to beg someone, that is only for someone who thinks less of themselves…and by these people saying things like that I assume this is how they feel on the inside. Misery loves company, is that how the saying goes?

I don’t like Snoop at all, but honestly hate and all the dumb comments make me want to point out the simple faults with the complainers and haters. Just like bullies, it’s always some inferiority complex that drives them.

Then whats the point of complaining on a news page where the Online service isn’t the subject instead of actually doing it elsewhere, like on the forums for instance?

The online racing is what this video game is all about… not some rapper. That is the point. If you dont care about Gran Turismo`s broken online and dont think its worth mentioning you can`t be a fan of this game.

I’m a huge hip-hop head but never really liked Snoop. He seems cool as a person but his music just never got to me. But I’m not complaining nor am I surprised b/c he’s been into games for as long as I can remember. He was a main character in Def Jam: Fight for NY (hard as f***), made a song for Need for speed underground 2 and GT3 and the list goes on so it’s whatever.
