Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Makes a Surprise Appearance in The Crew Motorfest

The Crew Motorfest has revealed its new Elite Bundle, a limited-time discounted offering of new cars for players to roam the game’s open world, and there’s something of a surprise contained within: the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo.

No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. That is indeed the very Bugatti Vision GT that was introduced as a life-sized model at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015, exclusively designed for use in Gran Turismo as a part of Polyphony Digital’s ongoing Vision Gran Turismo project.

This marks the second time that this hypercar has become playable outside of the Gran Turismo franchise, but the first in a title that’s in any way comparable. Previous the Bugatti made a brief appearance in mobile title Asphalt 8: Airborne in its 2021 Christmas Update before being permanently removed two years later.

Curiously, this isn’t the first time a vehicle designed specifically for Gran Turismo has featured outside the franchise in a different driving game on consoles. Neither is it the first time that a title in Ubisoft’s The Crew series has been the recipient.

Back in 2019, The Crew 2’s “Blazing Shots” update added the hydrogen-powered Citroen GT by Citroen, the car considered the progenitor of the Vision Gran Turismo program. The fact that history is repeating itself six years later is a fascinating note considering that no other title has ever featured a GT-exclusive vehicle before.

Powered by Bugatti’s signature 8.0-liter W16 quad-turbocharged engine, the Vision GT car makes a whopping 1,650 hp and can propel itself to a top speed of 278mph. Bugatti actually built one example of the car, which served to preview the design of the Chiron, and sold it to a paying customer. After a further sale it reportedly resides in California these days.

While it may be considered the star of the show here, the Bugatti Vision GT but it doesn’t stand alone in Elite Bundle 6; after all it wouldn’t be much of a “bundle” if it did.

Joining it is the Apollo Project EVO, the track-focused successor to the Intensa Emozione. First unveiled at the 2021 China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, China, it features a naturally aspirated, Ferrari-derived 6.3-liter V12 engine that produced 770 bhp.

Ten examples of the EVO are currently planned for production, though only a one-off prototype currently exists. It’s as rare in the real world as it is in the virtual, having only been featured in a small handful of mobile games such as the aforementioned Asphalt series.

Both cars are currently exclusive to Elite Bundle 6 and can be purchased together for 3.1 million in-game credits. For players looking for a quick joyride, the Bugatti can be taken for a test drive in the game’s “France: Bugatti Part 2” playlist event. If you’re low on funds, we’d suggest you start saving now.
