Forza Horizon 5 Debuts Official TV Ad: “The Getaway Driver”

A new TV advertisement for Forza Horizon 5 makes its debut today, with just over a week to go until the official general release date of November 9.

The three-minute, live-action sequence stars Cristo Fernandez — probably best known for his role as Dani Rojas in Ted Lasso — as an un-named driver who daydreams about exciting trips into the Mexican countryside, egged on by his new passenger: himself.

Our hero, driving his trusty Spanish Red BMW E21 5 Series — sadly not a vehicle you can drive in the game, at launch at least — into a variety of locations around the country. Quite handily, these seem to match up with FH5’s 11 biomes

While driving around the various locations the Getaway Driver encounters Carolina Giraldo Navarro — also known as Karol G — driving a classic Porsche 911, though soon loses her in a town center chase.

Right at the end of the clip, our hero sees a serious vehicle upgrade as he drives off in one of the game’s cover cars, the Mercedes-AMG Project ONE.

Though the short film largely consists of real footage rather than in-game visuals, it makes several nods towards the game’s activities. This includes a jungle exploration, that oft-mentioned sand storm, and even a PR Stunt danger sign.

We’re not sure where this ad will play, though we’d expect to see it airing in broadcast media, pre-movie trailers in the cinema, and in ads on streaming services — and at an increasing rate as the launch comes up next Tuesday.

Players who’ve ordered the Premium Edition of the game will have four days’ early access, beginning on Friday November 5, and the title is already available to preload.
