Sub-Zero. It has Cosworth attached to it, which I automatically find cool. Despite being a bad car, or at least that's what I'm told, I still find it awesome. I mean it's a toned down rallye car for the road, sort of.

Ugly? This is a living legend.

Sub zero without a doubt. Awesome car and one of the two cars that made the name "Cosworth" legendary to me at least.
The whale-tail spoiler is also quite unique (at least I don't see it very often anyway).

I was going to vote Cool judging by the looks along and the car itself. But then I thought "what the hell" and went for Sub-Zero.

Well most cars don't really have a shape like the Escort did so the whale tail spoiler wouldn't really work. I mean maybe on a Impreza Wagon or something but I think that would look silly. The spoiler was pretty awesome on the RS though.

As Joey said,it has the Cosworth name attached to it.That keeps it in the "cool" rank.

Sub-Zero. This is one of the ultimate street cars to own, period. From the Cosworth power, to the looks, to the animal nature of the car, to the fact that normal people actually recognise how good it is.

Good car, uncool.

Because it's the step-up from a Nova GTE. Owned almost exclusively by drug dealers and 45 year old chavs, there is absolutely nothing positive about the 'cos-uh's current clientele. It doesn't help that it's pre-wideboyed with that bodykit and preposterous rear wing, either.

And yes, I'm aware of the irony at preaching about chavvy Fords when I've just gone and bought Wayne Rooney's one.

Seriously uncool for me. It's just not my cup of tea. I like cars with bigger engines and here in north america well a ford escort is a ford escort.

Well, it doesn't take rocket science to tell this is a European deal. One of these on the streets in the U.S. would just look like some fabricator went to town on their mom's Ford Escort to the Average Joe. If I were to pull up next to say an Aston Martin or Porsche, I probably wouldn't draw too much attention to myself in this car. And at 225bhp, that doesn't qualify as it being a sleeper which I would usually raise in high esteem, if this car cranked 350+ BHP. It doesn't look too special either, however the picture that Mclaren showed, actually showed the car at a good angle. It's far from the "Seriously Uncool" category because it's better to look at than a:
'06 Subaru Tribeca
any Toyota Prius
'04 Nissan Primera
'04 Nissan Cube
or a
'09 Hyundai Genesis

It's still far from "Cool" as well so put two and two together and what do you get?

UNCOOL

Yep, another council-estate chav chariot! Not to mention the massive flock of imposter 1.4l Escorts with bodykits that plague every town in the UK!

Yes I agree, the idea of a Rally car for the road is great, and I'm sure it was pretty capable, but it looks terrible and it couldn't get any chavier if it tried, a problem that all fast euro Fords suffer from IMO.

Seriously Un-cool!

Hit the nail straight on the head there in my opinion. It's a good, even great car but it's not cool. If you were to drive this thing around on the streets of the UK today I think 90% of the people who saw you would think your a knob for driving your mum's 90's Ford Escort around with a go faster special stuck on the boot lid! :dopey:
All just my opinion though so I'm probably wrong. :sly:

Subzero.

So sue me... I'm a fan boy. We owned an Escort way back when I was a kid... and I still drive a Ford nowadays.

It's sbuzero because Ford made absolutely dreadful small cars at the time... tinny little tin cans that would rust if you looked at them funny. Or they would drop a muffler... pop a strut... and then rust some more.

But that this same Ford company could produce an absolute firecracker of a road car when it actually wanted to... that was amazing.

This was the "evo" of its day. A blue collar car with a big red "S" tattooed on its underwear. The equivalent to Danny's crazy Peugeot taxi from the Luc Besson films... not the utterly ridiculous one from the US version... though a hopped up Crown Vic... mhmmm... possibilities...

Of course, the body kit is nowhere near as outrageous...

C'mon... Subzero

Sure, the car is a novelty to Americans, but that doesn't matter to me. Even in my "ZOMG, I hate Ford" days, I still loved this car.

It's an awesome car, but not what I would consider truly cool. It's cool to me because I know what it is, but a really cool car should be cool to non-car people, too. This car is only interesting to people who are familiar with it. To everyone else it's just another little ricer hatchback with a silly wing.

I would love to drive one though. :)

Tricky.

The car itself is actually cool. Very rare, brutish beauty, goes like excrement off an earth-mover, sounds awesome. But it has a very, very significant problem...

Not to mention the massive flock of imposter 1.4l Escorts with bodykits that plague every town in the UK!

Yep. This. And the Escort isn't exactly a cool car (or name - it sounds like a "gentleman's publications") in the first place. Aaaand the worst part is that the Escort RS Cosworth wasn't even an Escort - something the divs who glue the bodykit to their hatchbacks don't realise.

If you turned up at the prospective-in-laws in one of these to ask for their daughter's hand in marriage, they'd either think it was a fake one (if they're into cars) or think "Ugh!" (if they aren't).

I'll have to mull this one over.
