Salaam to you "GT'S BiG FaN" I see you are a new member. Please make sure you read the Terms of Use before starting a new thread.

This (and other general GT5 videos) should go into the GT5 General thread. Thanks =].

This is al old video and not even gameplay footage:grumpy:

It was taken from gaming replay edited for best AA and light effects.. maybe added bit more smoke in the software too .. its way easier to do this then to make a cg movie.

Smoke doesnt really worry me too much in the game as its behind me, i dont see it, so i dont care :)
But you see the smoke of the cars in front of you :D
Seriously I don't care either, the way it is now is perfect for me.

Yes, its good as it is, I do not drift, So I do not care, I wat 16 cars and less smoke.

PD should tune smoke that once you have 2 car drift, you see more smoke

There's a reason why the forum search bar is at the top of the page. Oh what am I thinking, it's there for no reason, it doesn't even work.

But no skidmarks, rofl. Sometimes I just dont get what Kaz is on about....
Sometimes I wonder if you guys know that in real life skidmarks are not always noticeable. In many games it's overdone.

Someetimes cars do produce gt5 amounts of smoke.

uh, he was talking about skidmarks, which i see none of in the video (maybe i'm just not looking hard enough)

and this kind of smoke was in GTPSP, and it even looks great there :D

I wish there could be varying amounts of smoke depending on what tires or how hot certain tires get. Skidmarks, should be in regardless

Okay, I screen capped it, and it looks pretty good. I am certain this is more tyre smoke than we are used to in the Gran Turismo series.

I found the smoke created by Le Mans Demo a bit thicker than reality.

It's hard to say definitively, tyre smoke can be pretty dense in real life, so much so that it can completely obscure the car. It really depends on how long the car is sat there spinning the wheels and the compound of the tyre to an extent.

Tyre smoke in previous GT games as always been extremely understated, I certainly think the new tyre smoke looks far more realistic and I am glad to see the change. 👍

Thanks for the screenshot mate, I would say the smoke is welcomed...as the screenshot indicates a realistic level of smoke if you ask me.:)

In the screenshot you see the car spinning the tyres at 13 Km/h:
In breaking that down, we all know that the Le Mans Peugeot in the screenshot is a powerful car; plenty capable of spinning those tyres!
We also know that the Car would be running big rubber and that at only 13Km/h the smoke generated by the tyres spinning very fast would not be dissipated in the air because of car speed.
simply put the slower you go, the more powerful the Car, the bigger the tyres..the more smoke is given off into the air and is contrated in that small area.
Also note in this screenshot we are looking through the trail of smoke...as the screenshot is the rear view behind the car, further emphasizing the smoke.
;)👍

What they've said.
+but it doesn't stay long enough!
If it's just a quick lock under braking, than it's usually thin and disappears quickly, but if you're spinning the tires, it's usually thick and definitely lingers on, sometimes quite a long time(depending on tires, amount of burnout, air motion and air conditions etc.)...

Nice tyre smoke, but I don't think they should be producing that much smoke from a start like that.

well particles, and pretty dense at that, are taxing, so I don't think they will stay as around as long as you'd want. Maybe in drift mode with 1 car by itself it might linger around for longer

In iRacing the dust and tyre smoke sometimes stays around for half a lap or more. Adds a lot of immersion

That depends on how hot the tyres are already, in this case the tyres would already be quite hot and the sheer quantity of rubber it is spinning looks about right.

If I launch too hard (spin uo the tyres) in second gear in my car I can get that level and even more from a standstill with fairly cold tyres and much less rubber.
