I like the roof cam, I just wish they had made it a hood cam insted. I used to race in chase view for the older GT's.

I voted the third person

I do like switching during the race but the one i use most is Third Person view... and i think that in this chapter the game fails a little! Only 3 Cam's to play?? At least one more like a FAR Third Person View...

I used to race in 3rd person in the older GT's and every other racing game (NFS series) but it seems I need the roof cam for GT4 lol, dunno why?

I always used to use 3rd person view, even when I first got gt4. But for some reason I tried out the roofcam view and have been using it since 👍 👍

The only view that is comfortable to me in all racing games is the in-car view. Any other view makes me feel disconnected from the car. The only time I would consider an outside view is in rally games.

I use the bumper cam view. I wish the game had a driver's seat/cowl cam, so you could see the hood instead of the roof cam where you see the hood and part of the roof, but alas it's not available. Maybe in GT5.

That is my only real complaint about this game thus far.

the ultimate view would be straight from the driver's eyes, but since PD is being queer and not putting that in, i'll just stick to bumper and roof for now.

you haven't played it much, have you? :P

I agree about the Hood view > roof view

Hey, if I didn't read these forums I never would have noticed most of the "bugs" or "failings" of GT4.

P.S. - I (still) use bumper cam.

Actually, if you compare to other cars next to you, the 'bumper cam' is actually the view from the driver, it just doesn't show the dash and the hood.

In previous GTs, I would usually use the 3rd person view, because I found it the best for placing my wheels accurately in the turns, but in GT4, I'm finding that I quite like the hood/roof cam. I usually change during the races, however, depending on what I need to see.

Exactly! Its like the difference between driving the car and driving a remote controlled toy.

I feel I can see more with the roof cam view.
I use the in car cam view for replays though. Don't ask me I can't tell ya why?

i do prefer third person view beacuse one of the things that got me hooked to gt is graphics and i personally think the best way to apreciate them is to use that view because i love the look of the cars BUT sometimes on long streches of road i do the roof cam to get that proper feeling of speed (love the wind effect)

GT1: 3rd person, GT2 + 3: bumper cam, GT4 rooftop.

It would be nice to have a in-car/driver view complete with a moving steering wheel and readable dashboard displays, but that might be difficult with some cars.

Despite using rooftop, I will occasionally switch to 3rd person if I'm way ahead to listen to the engine without the wind on some of the longer straights.

Like others have said, in GT - GT3 I used third person most of the time, but would frequently switch to bumper view for drafting and certain rally stages.

Now I use bumper view exclusively. In my opinion the third person view in GT4 is too locked to the car. If you are drifitng you still see in front of the car, not in the direction of travel like the previous games. Something about that makes me nauseous after a short time in that view.

Plus I think I would have always prefered bumper view if they hadn't been so low in the previous games. Remember bumper view in the original GT. It was so low the stripes on the road filled the entire width of the bottom of the screen.

Plus I like the gauges in bumper view better. They're more in the line of sight.

For GT1, 2 and just about any other racing game I use the 3rd person views, so I can plave the wheels of the car accurately. Rallying - 3rd is a must, given that you cant see where the rear wheels are in the 1st view.

GT3 - the first game i ever raced using in-car view - much better i found. can see the road: the model of the car doesnt block it, because for some reason in GT3 the car was right were it shouldnt be. GT4 - more of the same I suspect... I have only experimented with GT4P - didnt like the "overhead" view at all - felt like a bird watching the car, and just as involved. Remote-control toy is a more accurate description.

I do use the 3rd rarely - but thats when my flatmates walk past so I can show off the fancy car model :sly:
