It depends on the car, on some cars I use the roof cam, but only on the cars where you can't see the roof like the 350X, CLK-GTR ect, if you can see the roof then I use the bumper cam.

Now I use bumper view exclusively. In my opinion the third person view in GT4 is too locked to the car. If you are drifitng you still see in front of the car, not in the direction of travel like the previous games. Something about that makes me nauseous after a short time in that view.

Exactly right IMO, the 3rd person camera is too 'tight' to the car, especially given say when the car twitches a bit and you have to catch it from sliding, and it just, oh i don't know what it is,
<rant>
but they have ruined 3rd person view, i can't use it. I used it exclusively in every other game, maybe slipstream in first person, but now, im all about bumper cam. Altho i think maybe the DFP has helped there too, it's just wierd using a wheel and seeing the car.

Bumper cam, except for rally races, then i use roof view ,it helps me line up the nose of the car with the apex of the corner to get the perfect drift. it doesnt really matter right now for me though, since i cant play with a broken wrist! $%@%$!

Front bumper cam view here....Gives the best sense of speed and plus, after years of playing other games using this view...I'm sorta used to it...even for rally racing....!
(Colin McRae & WRC to name a few)

Honestly, I think it's the most realistic, considering when you use the in-car view, the hood looks just so damn small and doesn't seem right...and let's not even talk about the 3rd person view! LOL! But hey..to each their own right? ;-)

I use bumper cam 95% of the time. But I'll switch to 3rd person while on a straight, if I'm using a cool car, just to admire it. :)

i use bumper in all racing games, but when i played around with the roof cam, i found it better, i now always use the roof cam, much better view yet im able to be just as precise as bumper cam. Roof cam all the way

in gt3, I used 3rd person, couldn't race ne other way, not ne thing but car seat for gt4 though, the hood view just feels to high.

Still using the bumper cam until the first Gran Turismo!!!
And I did a sort of black dashboard/cluster made of foamboard material that I stuck on the TV screen! I cut around the two rev and speed tachometers, did a few holes for the tires, and oil warning, it looks so realistic now! :)
Send you a picture later...

bumper cam/in-car view. Only way to go.

Best sense of speed, and then there's the turbo whistle and BOV that you don't get from the 3rd person view. I'm sure people with turbo cars in real life can appreciate what I'm talking about…

Try the bumber cam with a 5.1 surround sound system. Instead of hearing the annoying race exhaust, you hear the engine.

" In Car Seat View"

There isn't one, what there is though, is a crappy low down bumper cam. Realistic my ass. I like to see a bonnet, and be at the eye level of a real driver, roof cam is as close as I'll get. I'm sorry but PD must be a bit stupid, who puts a roof cam in over a bonnet cam, it makes no sense. 👎

I won't even mention GT4s 3rd person cam, cept that it's less then useless.

i do prefer third person view beacuse one of the things that got me hooked to gt is graphics and i personally think the best way to apreciate them is to use that view because i love the look of the cars BUT sometimes on long streches of road i do the roof cam to get that proper feeling of speed (love the wind effect)

Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god...that's exactly what i am doing, :dopey: i always race with chase view and switch to roof view on long straights, especially the ring 👍 by the way, i don't like the map of the ring in gt4, it's so hard to see and prepare for the sharp turns , i wish it was bigger and rotate around like in forza or NFSHP2

Bumper cam is too low, roof cam is too high. GT5 really needs at least a hood view or even better a real in car view with dashboard and everything.

Voted bumper.

when i first got GT4 i used the bumper cam just like gt3. I tried the hood cam last night because alot of peoeple liked it........i'll stick with the bumper. Me no likey the hood cam. It makes me feel disconnected from the car.
