What modes are there going to be in Gran Turismo 4?

PD are planning a 1 style drift mode in GT4.
The rally mode is in, it's in half of the pics.
A drag mode hasn't been talked about by PD but they have wanted to include in a GT game since GT2 so I wouldn't rule it out, I wouldn't rule it in either though, least likely of the three.

From what Ive heard in interviews theres gonna be a Simulation mode I belive called "GT Universe" Most likely there will be arcade... There proably wont be a rally mode most likely just rally races like in GT3 it doesnt have its own "mode" just a series of races all under that "GT Universe (Simulation)" section. Expect to see an Online mode.. Drifting I belive was said to be its own mode but I belive IMO that it will just be a "series" of races just like the rally mode in GT3 by having its own little section. Hope that help...

I don't understand why would they add a drifting section. I mean how do you win the race/contest? If it's a race you don't need to drift, you can just go with grip driving, it's faster.

That idea was dropped a month or two back.

I'm tempted to answer, but I will hold myself back.

Sunset, have you ever heard of the "D1 Grand Prix"? It is a competition that involves some of the best drivers in the world. A run is judged on a somewhat simple system that takes speed, technique, precision and smokiness into account. It is not really what one would call a race. As a matter of fact, in the last rounds, pulling away from your opponent will drop your score dramatically! For more information, go to the drifting section of the GT3 forum, or check out http://www.drifting.com

Yeah, I know drifting.com, D1, drift king and what not. But thinking about GT4, I really can't picture PD implementing a scoring system to the game. It would be so arcadish.

yea it would be a little arcadish, but if they do it hopefully they do it right and not half fast.. but hey you never know it might just be part of the Arcade section of the game and not in the simulation part maybe, what do you guys think?

Well what else is there? I don't think we have room to complain. Something is better than nothing.

That would not be at arcadish! What the #3|| are you talking about?!?! It would be the same as series points! Thats how it is in real life! So why is it arcadish?!?!
Sorry, the control I have over my emotions is sometimes overcome by the part of me that is human...

I was just playing NFS Underground(please forgive me PD) and I am not sure if you know but it features a drift mode and it feels arcadey but the scoring system is great so hopefully PD will be able to create realistic handling with a great scoring system.

If PD include a D1 drift competition it won't be like in NFS underground.

I didn't say it would, I was saying if NFS Underground can do it in an arcade game then imagine what PD can do in regards to a realistic drifting mode which includes the real feeling of drifting.

This is sort of off topic but do you think PD really fixed the computer AI? They keep on saying they will, but based on the reviews of the demo, the reviewers say the AI is still the same...Maybe im just reading old reviews..

Wouldn't suprise me if the AI was unchanged, they said it would be human like  in GT2. It was very slightly better (better than GT3's lol) but still crap.

And GT3 oh dear...

They better do it this time.

As I'm sure all of you by now, both drifting and drag racing have been confirmed. Drifting will be judged like D1 (from a KY interview in a mag). Drag racing shots have popped up all around. Oh so sexy. By the way, dont forget photo mode. Its gotten me quite excited.
