hello
i feel like i can do longer drifting and feel like the wheel is not totally turning to any side, so probably i need more throttle and more wheel turning. does not fell like what im doing is fine.
the only settings i chaged was the break bias, put everything to the rear wheels, thats it, i know something can be made to the suspension but i don have any idea of what to modify. yes im on a wheel...
thakns for the advise

Change the rear toe angle first. The stock angle makes the car push in a straight line. (Usually the number is 60) take down to between 15 and 30 for more freedom on the rear tires.

So I was kinda hoping with the reveal of the C8 Corvette we would get it in the july update like we did in gt5 and gt6 with the release of the stingray. Unfortunately nobody to date has accurately tested the car other than GM who is keeping the real numbers secret.

Drifting basics for beginners

  1. Stay away from drift trial. The drift setting sheet in drift trial mode is complete garbage. Use Time trial.
  2. Comfort hard tires.
  3. Just like grip racing... you need to control your entry speed.
  4. To flick the car: countersteer just a little more than what you need and shut the throttle off. It's gonna put some weight on the from tires. (use brakes if needed)
  5. No throttle when in transition.
  6. You can use the brakes to control the weight of the car in the transition. (If your transition is too violent)
  7. Let it scrub some speed before getting back on the throttle.
  8. You kinda need to unwind the wheel before the end of the turn.
  9. The more you unwind, the more throttle you need.

I made a short clip with a bit of everything...
  • 0:08 - 0:12 If you transition way too hard like this and touch the throttle, you are going to spin. Let it scrub-off speed and reduce the steering angle before getting back on the throttle.
  • 0:17 Using brakes to control speed, flick the car and control rotation.
  • 0:26 Countersteer more/release throttle (number 4)
  • 0:57 No throttle in the transition/Scrub-off speed (number 5 & 7)
  • 1:09 Number 4 again

Would it be a good idea to upload the same clip but with all the race data on so we can see all the throttle, brake, and steering inputs?

July Standings updated

Time Trials Rd. 15

I've already mentioned this to you a few of you, but the July season will be my last season in SNAIL and simracing for quite a while. I'm not necessarily quitting, I just dont know when I'll be returning. I've dedicated a lot of my time to SNAIL and this hobby of mine for quite awhile now, and have decided to focus on other things for now at this stage in my life. Thats not to say others dont put in the same amount of time, if not more to this. Which is what makes SNAIL so great and why its so successful - the countless amount of hours that go into it week in and week out from the board and stewards to league night volunteers and practice hosts. SNAIL will always be hands down the greatest simracing organization/league on the planet in my book. All thanks to everyone here in 2019, and all of the past contributors that have since moved on.

With that said, I cant be relied on to continue my responsibilities here. Standings, Time Trials (working with @JamCar0ne), Thursday Prac host are all up for grabs. PM me if you are interested in taking on any of these duties and I'll help you get setup if you have any questions.

However, I will keep the 2019 Total Points sheet updated since I have offered prizes for the winner(s), and will keep my word on that.

I also had every intention on running the 2nd annual SNAIL FF League, but I wont be available to commish again this season. With preseason right around the corner its a good time to start setting it up.

Prize A:

As a thanks for the 3+ years here its only fitting I let SNAIL decide. Lets get a nomination/voting process started using all divisions.

D4 Drivers (anyone on the D4 drivers list): @Phlano099 @TTTtothetop @Nick Cannella @gulfvet67 @Drifter1171 @JamCar0ne @Skills @diehard racer @VetteVillain @Tex_Scribble @JLBowler @TexasJDC @Robudda @Jacob Falcon @BooBooNite @Diggypow @itsNova366

You may suggest 1 track. Specify time of day, otherwise it will be set to default.
Post your suggestion before 3PM EST tomorrow (Wed 7/31)

D3 drivers pay attention to the thread around 3PM EST tomorrow. You will all have the opportunity to vote from the track suggestions. @Fudman420 @GTP_Guido @NASCARNATE91 @stelephant @TomMang_68 @USERID_77a23 @Raw10_2u @IDreamInGT3 @racingchamp30 @WildOne1976 @o8_jedi @CrespoJr83 @Rogue Clone @MajorBlixem @Bud__Greene @Notorious 22 @Alexrider007 @Turdburgerlar @Akzl298 @ae86kurt

After a track is decided, the same process will be used to decide the car using D1 and D2 drivers.

The combo will be finalized before Thursday official practice begins.

Hi Chris,
that makes me a little sad. It was always a pleasure to race with you and I learned a lot from you. You are a role model for everyone. Not just as a driver but especially as a person.
Thank you for all the time and work you put into this wonderful league. I wish you all the best for the things you want to focus on and hope that we see each other on the track from time to time.

Wow, thank you for your time to get this information together, I thougth it was easyer, i will start implementing all this and see what is the final output.

Yes, Chris will be missed. Thanks for all your input and willingness to jump in and help wherever help was needed to keep the league running!

That being said, I will need 2 volunteers with a little bit of spreadsheet savvy to work with me on the Snail Invitational events. Since my retirement from regular work my more predictable schedule has changed to one that is quite flexible. That flexibility clashes with some snail events and responsibilities. Wise men know that responsibilities around the home come before something that is perceived to be just a game. We all know that Snail is not just a game - it is a serious professional competition where we pursue our dreams to become a seasonal champion and to race in the monthly SNAIL Invitation Event. Well, better keep that to yourself and not say that too loud around the house.

I need the volunteers to play steward for the race night and operate a delicate spreadsheet that can be damaged if you don't follow certain rules. If you qualify for the Event, you play steward and you race. If you don't qualify you steward. Anybody with a good connection can host.

Let me know and I will set up a PM and training session

Where I can’t race every invitational, or can’t be in every lobby. I generally know ahead of time if i can make it or not. I can handle race nights in the nights I’m available whether I’m racing or not. So you can add me to the list. I can work my way around a spread sheet but can’t set one up like you can to save my life.

Good luck to you @SAMHAIN85 and wish you the best of luck. To see you again on track in the future and these past years i have enjoyed very much battling it out on the track with you during Practice nights and also during the Survivor series. I agree Snail is the most organized online racing league.

Thanks for all that you have done for SNAIL. I’m quite sure when you apply the dedication and focus you have for this league to your next/future goal, that you will be met with overwhelming success.
See you soon.

@SAMHAIN85 thank you for everything since I started this whole sim racing adventure. I remember my first snail experience you and @stelephant were the very first people I met. You have always been good to me from teaching me duties, to atleast being able to see you have 20-30 minutes of racing so you will definitely be missed by me can't wait til your back
Good times.

Since nobody else has spoken up. I'll suggest something that will actually pique my interest to race. If nothing else, it will make someone who hates it speak up with their own suggestion.

Northern Isle
Forward version (not even sure if it can be run in reverse but covering my bases)
Default time of day is fine.
