Request to join

@carguynv

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!
Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join SNAIL Racing League:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add @CoachMK21, @JLBowler, @nmcp1 & @zer05ive as participants. The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing club. Sunday races are organized exclusively through the GT6 Community features within the game.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread. If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

Man, I don't know why they don't have that car in this game, that Porsche 959 is a nice car...
That has been a childhood dream car since I first saw and read about in Road and Track. 20 years ahead of it's time, and very limited production. They were illegal to drive here in the states up until 2002 because Porsche refused to offer 3 examples for crash testing to DOT, so they never had acceptance on US roads. In 2002, a law was passed that certain low volume or "specialty cars" would not be scrutinized or require approval by DOT. Bill Gates had one impounded for years before this law was passed. Very special car IMO. Laid the foundation of the modern supercar.

From what I've heard, that deal is running out, or has run out now. Hope we start seeing some Porsches! I gave the RUF RGT-8 a go in P Cars, and it is such a joy to drive!
Here's to hopin!

Hey @racingchamp30 have a great birthday!!!
Are you enjoying your gift car?
If you could really have any car you desired for your birthday what would it be.

I'll leave this one open to anybody.
I'd pick something that covers all the bases. I know there are some.

-I want to be able to daily drive it to work in any weather (so be able to switch to winter tires and have a roof. Roof can be detachable.
-Enough space for light shopping, I don't have to go to the grocery store every two weeks and load up my car. Just every week or maybe less and keep the load light.
-It should feel like I'm on the limit at low speeds, like I'm at a track but I'm not.
-Has to be blue

I'm thinking maybe a Morgan 4+4, FR-S, Caterham 7 160 (the cheap one on Top Gear), MX-5?

Miata for all the reasons, AND...

It's cheap to run. Parts are cheap, and with 800,000+ cars in circulation, there are spares for whatever you want almost everywhere.

It's possible you can work on it yourself, easily.

It doesn't require specialty parts, or checking how the Morgan's wooden chassis is holding up - and check the price to have a Morgan frame redone... about every 15 years. :scared: And if you go to Williamsburg, I'm betting more frequently.

And it's probably at least $10,000 less than the other choices, if not more. For a Trader Joe's guy, it's MX-5 FTW.

My daughter is begging me to get a caged/race prepped MX-5 for us to both run at the track, but I'm aiming for a bigger car (which would exclude my daughter from driving on track for 4 more years... Mom will be happier, daughter very sad...).

MX-5's ARE fun to drive, they just don't make me feel like my testicles are cavitating with excess testosterone.

YMMV.

I would love to add a roll cage and have a bumper sticker that says "Because race car" hahaha

But I would like more power... hmm... maybe supercharge it, give it around 250HP

Drive something, get to know it... I was told not to change *anything* on my car for a year. I didn't.

1 year and a few days later, I made some changes. At that point, I could really tell if the change I made was a good change, a bad change, or just a change.

This is the Miata I'd been thinking about getting. He had been listing it for $7,500, but hadn't had takers. I may still go for it on a flyer, then ask the wife for forgiveness, but.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/171936405474?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649

Price is right for a Supercharged version... and here in Virginia. (5 miles from me)
