Huh, so through all of the F1 chat of the yesterday, I wondered to myself how an f1 car might handle some rally racing. Low and behold, the following video appeared in my FB feed today. The first half of the video shows that an F1 car, really probably couldn't last a full rally event, maybe not even a stage. But the second half is the redbull F1 car at Circuit of the Americas, before they paved it. Really gives a good idea of just how strong the aerodynamic forces are on that car. Enjoy!

Such a cool video. I'd think they raised the car as high as it could go, lowered tire pressures, and softened the suspension quite a lot. There's a video of a open wheel car running The Ring in the snow. I can't remember what spec car though, maybe a GP2 or GP3. Cool (and scary) to watch.

If memory serves me right, it's a Formula BMW.
It's amazing. So much oppo lock...
Karussel is about 8 minutes in, for those that are curious.

Good evening SNAILS,

It's the end of week #3 for the September season and here is this week's recap of sunday night.

While practising with my fellow mangos it was soon realised that Sunday night's races will be fun. My favourite car/combo for the week had to be the G27.
Round 1 was particularly kind to me when I managed to pull a pole winning time which I failed to hold onto by the end of race 1. In race two I kept my cool and narrowly avoided wrecking when i found a tiny gap bewteen cars that were out of control and caused quite the pile up .
Round 2 was intense with battles down the field and multiple position changes especially between BKM-540 and WIDEeyedDRIVER, who went at it with everything except the kitchen sink.

Appreciation for all duty fillers [onyx, die_birdie and WIDEeyed] and special thank you to COACHMK for saving the day when he stepped up to upload the replay for the last race just in time for the deadline.

Congratulations to canuckleheadll for the over all win.
I hope GRANSTAND does not mind if me using their logo in my video

Something has changed in our league - and I'm not sure what it is. It would be interesting to know if attendance is varying because of the School Year getting started again ........ or something else. Or perhaps it is my own lack of enthusiasm that I once felt toward practices and weekly race events once enjoyed.

On my side it's school. If I lived in the US (East or West) I would still be racing with you guys, but I ain't driving at 3AM during school days. Looks like you guys are still having fun though. 👍

Hello! I was invited to join SNAIL via PSN message, and this is my post to acknowledge that. I'll be on the lookout and i'll have those cars ready.

@EnigmaTheWolf

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!
Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join SNAIL Racing League:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add @CoachMK21, @JLBowler, @nmcp1 & @zer05ive as participants. The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing club. Sunday races are organized exclusively through the GT6 Community features within the game.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread. If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

The video @FlipJ posted is it I believe. Great driving by that guy.

Yep, schools my issue as well. III got behind in a java class and have been paying hell trying to get caught back up, as well as prepping for the a+ cert tests. Well test. Guess when I rescheduled, only one of the two went through, so I got 801 out of the way, now I need to do 802.

For me, it's just life and the balance I'm trying to keep within it. For me, racing on Sundays demands me being at my very best. I tried not taking it so serious, but the results are worse. I just get mad when I cannot meet at least the general realm of my standards. I basically stepped away from all series' with structures that offer unrestricted practice. Fortunately, because of the size of this league, I can still get involved in some really high quality racing in the random practice rooms that pop up throughout the week. No self-inflicted Sunday pressure or disconnects to ruin my season. Maybe, if I have less projects in the winter I may get re-involved in Sundays, but that's pretty up in the air at the moment too. We have a contractor coming Monday for a major reno (second floor add-on). If we go ahead with that, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna try to save some money and do a lot of the "finish" work myself. (money saved is money spent on a real kart!) :D

You should come on over to the dark side, PS4 and Project cars. Either night we would be glad to have you or anyone else that is looking for some clean fun.

Thanks anyway. Too much $$$. Not sure I will go any further than PS3 and GT-6

That's what I said when I had the PS1 and the original GT :)

Just sold my DFGT and PS3 to help pay for the new wheel. Best investment.

Pcars is light years ahead of GT6 in the actual driving experience.

Had my first drive last night my old Snail homies from RCS and it was great. I'll be glad when I get more time to learn the new cars and tracks.

I have a strong feeling he's not gonna make the deadline... It gives others a chance to put out some ideas so that's good.

Anyone interested in running some laps with the G37 at random tracks just for the hell of it?

I'm glad you brought this up. Attendance lately has been low as a percentage. With membership high, and attendance low, I wonder if there's a better way to structure the divisions. I miss racing with twelve to fifteen other people on Sundays. Lately, I've been lucky to race with five. Not that a grid of six can't be fun, but the hope is always for a full room on Sunday.

Anyone have productive suggestions on how we can get those numbers up?

Go down to 6 divisions for now until we notice rooms getting full more frequently?

I was thinking maybe instead of giving the prize picks to the top points getters for the night we have a lottery instead. Let's say as long as you show up to race Sunday your name gets thrown in a hat after the races and we pick 3 random names for prizes A B AND C
First pick gets prize A, second pick gets B and third gets C
Let's say if your name gets picked more than once in a season it gets tossed until next season when we start over that way we get more prize winners.
I think this may generate more interest if you know you don't necessarily have to win your division to win a prize. This may work well especially if we do go down to 6 or 5 divisions knowing that that slower guys in a combined division like 3 and 4 are never going have a chance at a prize. In fact I'm sure there are some people who have been in this league from almost the beginning who may have never won a prize.

This is not a solution but just an idea to maybe to create more interest and fun for the people that do show up every Sunday. Plus we can always tweak it.

Anyway just me thinking out loud with an idea 💡

I probably haven't been around long enough to be super familiar with the ebbs and flows of turnout. Indoor hobbies typically become more popular after the weather changes. Maybe folks are getting their last fixes of summer? Lot's of possibilities that are for the most part uncontrollable.

That's what I was going for, ideas!

I'm sure @JLBowler has a formula already for determining division numbers. What I wonder is: Does that formula include a factor for absences? Could we raise the percentage of absences to condense divisions? Would that create too much imbalance within the divisions?

Last Sunday the average starters for the night was 8.2. That's slightly more than half full. (See, I'm a half full kinda guy.:sly:)

GT6 is showing it's age. It will be hard to get people to continue to play. The number of divisions has always been adjusted accordingly, and I would assume it will continue to do so.

Is Project Cars without any hiccups or faults in the the online play? What is it capable of in terms of setting regulations? Can we continue the exact same SNAIL format for Sunday night in that we can force no tuning, specific tire compound, and so on?

If you would follow the links provided you would see there is no way to prohibit tuning. Also Snail isn't running on both consoles any night of the week.
