Look what just showed up on the GTPlanet news feed. The course maker is set to release an app by Sept. 30 according to the article.

I read it here first and there are several roads I will be testing this app with. Possibly even this weekend. In this.

Don't know about others, but my GT6 Excitometer has actually twitched. Hopefully, it pegs the stop tomorrow.

I'm bettin' JL is itching to get his hands on it so he can create every oval known to man...

I won't be putting my phone in my pocket running at 120KMH, especially in a category where there lots of crashes. 88 drivers this weekend for us, qualifying sessions will be split into 5 groups  Qualifying will be taking the whole afternoon...

Oh, I totally agree. But my thoughts weren't necessarily centered around recreating real kart tracks. We could possibly make decent tracks using residential neighborhoods or even the local empty Walmart parking lot.

However, I have two sessions left in my rental series, if I'm lucky maybe we'll run either the east or west course. I can get the full layout anytime.

If I can figure this out without messing up my own data collection, I'll get Pittsburgh International Race Complex mapped this weekend :)

Dude, that would be sweet! We'll have both the big track and the Wilson Circuit!

When will you arrive BTW?

So I only spent a few months playing GT5. Never appreciated the course creator, and never raced online. I'll admit (and eat my words) that I never thought this feature would make it to GT6.

On that note, I'm pretty excited. Most exciting is that I'm part of a community that has mucha experiencia with course creation. Hopefully there will be an easy way to share courses.

Are created courses excluded from Sunday night racing combo choices? (I would guess created courses are not good for league racing.)

I made some great tracks in gt5. It's Gonna be fun doing that all over. Just more replay value as you can fool around making tracks when you're bored

Created courses will not be made available for Sunday night racing. The inherent advantage that the creator could have is off the charts.

My opinion for sharing courses is that it's probably going to be like uploading replays, just that it'll be even easier since we don't need to export the files (unless I read wrongly, looks like we'll only be able to make tracks from the device itself, not the PS3)

I'm gonna go nuts with it and try for the most American- type track I can make. Lots of sweepers and some long straights

Am I missing something?

Track designers will have a fairly extensive set of tools available at their disposal, along with a lot of creative freedom to design any type of road of their choosing:
  • Four different locations or geography types will be available, including the familiar “Eifel” location from GT5, the Andalusia region in Spain (around which the Circuit de la Sierra is based), along with the introduction of a new “Death Valley” location.
  • Players will have full control of the shape and layout of the course, including the ability to set road width and the banking of corners.
  • Roadside items such as plants, trees, buildings, signs, tents, and grandstands can be placed around the circuit.
From what I see in the posts above it looks like there is an impression that you can create the tracks with GPS data, while the quote from the actual article mentions four areas or regions (only named three here....)

Unless you mean that you can create a course in the shape of existing tracks or road maps, but how will you get the elevation changes right?

I am open for education.

.... what do you do if you only have a Blackberry :guilty:..... You annex the wife's i-pad...:sly:

now do you guys think the GPS recorder would also include elevation change? if so I have a couple roads around a local ski resort that need to be made into circuits

We are planning on getting there by 6 pm on Friday. It's a 16 hour race over Saturday and Sunday with an extended red flag overnight. No work can be done to the car. No refueling, no cleaning windows, etc. Race time is 9-5 (or 8-4). We're staying in our camper at the track.
