Forgive me for coming late to the party, but last night I discovered (amongst a few other things) that you can actually turn down the tire squeal significantly to where it is only whispering in the background. Go to your sound settings in the main Options Menu and move the slider to -5. If I am the last one to discover this, shame on you for not telling me earlier.... Finally I have some peace and tranquility:sly:
Welcome to the party! I also lower transmission noise and raise engine noise to give more growl and less whine

I thought about this but I enjoy the realistic sounds.
I only do it for the race cars because the transmission is just too much. I get that it sounds somewhat like that but I need to change it up. Just lowering the transmission noise doesn't really do much so raising engine noise creates a larger gap between the two and then I lower my stereo volume to equalize.

May read into what the quest actually is for. From what I am reading it may not be as good as one may think.
From the article:
We went hands-on with an early version of Oculus Quest one year ago and even back then it felt like a finished product. It was lightweight, comfortable and freeing -- without any wires tying players to a PC, moving felt more natural and the experiences were immersive, from slaying zombies to feeding a mythical creature.

Important Announcement

Regarding the Bugati Veyron VGT race this Sunday. This race will be run with fuel consumption turned off. Anyone who is hosting a practice lobby on Thursday should set the room up this way and all hosts for Sunday should make the necessary adjustments if they have the lobby settings saved.

This only applies to the Veyron combo for this week at this time.

My review of the 16 IR's on file is complete

I cant imagine a wireless set up is going to be great for such fast twitch activities like racing. Plus my understanding is the resolution (and possibly refresh?) Is going to be low.
The resulotion is 1600x1440 per eye which is good enough in my opinion. I share your concerns regarding refresh rates but I'm hopeful.

Edit: Never mind. You use this without a PC. So no way of hooking up a steering wheel or pedals.

Another VR post: This might make me move to PC racing next year.
https://www.engadget.com/2018/09/26/oculus-quest-santa-cruz-price-release-date/#/

my son has the original oculus which is 1200 lines horizonal resolution. this one is 1600 lines which is just 25% more. While my son does like VR for iracing, I really don't like the resolution - it feels like you're playing on a 800x600 old school monitor. The thing that bugs me the most is you can't see objects that are far away. It is as if you became short sighted making objects far away look fuzzy. You can't see cars in the distance let alone apex points. ...and you can actually see the pixels, which is distracting. IMO you really need 2400+ horizontal lines before these effects reduce to an acceptable level. I would say you should try it before you commit to the PC route. Note also that you need a really high end graphics card - which have become expensive due to bit mining - of all things.

The Sony VR has 1920 horizontal and 1200 vertical lines (1080 if memory fails me) of resolution. Of course, with that resolution being right in front of your eyes, it is also a bit grainy. However I think it is acceptable although making objects slightly fuzzy. The immersion (being able to look around) and especially to see the apex come and go, is incredible. If PD ever gets to the point where we can race together with VR, trust me, you’ll have to reach to adjust the rearview mirror to remember you’re not really in the car OR pinch yourself to remind you what my wife already knows: sim racing is not real

Not going to lie, I'm about to put tape over the shift lights as they're too bright. Does anyone know if there's a way to adjust the brightness on the wheel settings?

Edit: that was a reply to @vsfit
Yea, they're bright that's for sure. I've read other posts regarding this as well, seems like were stuck with it. I haven't found anything on Fanatecs site as well.
Do you notice a change in brake force and steering rotation FF?

Whatever they patched to get rid of the rattle feel seems to have improved the feedback into the wheel. To me, all the cars seem to handle better. I've been unable to drive the KTM and the honda 2 & 4. I tried them this morning to see if it was just me/new cars. Well, now all of a sudden they're drivable. I'm thinking it's a combination of the game updates and the patches they've included for the wheel.

I've been really struggling since the last update and had all but given up on the weekend races because I've not felt comfortable with the wheel knocking through turns. I was giving so much speed away in the turns trying not to induce the knocking with the front end washing out, it was very frustrating. I think I'll be on track this weekend.

Can't remember who asked, but this is how I make the decal kits for race car replicas.
My primary software for GT Sport SVG decals is Affinity Designer. I just download the image(s) of the car from each angle I can find to my artboard then trace the main design with the pen tool. Remove the photo, then with shapes and art sets I overlay or convert the outline into the finished set of decals. Seems like a lot of work, but even the most detailed designs can be done in a very short period of time once you get used to the workspace and the tools.

Note: The image of the car in the photo was one of my own designs snapped from GT Sport. I fit the decal to the car before uploading them into GT Sport. I was double-checking the layout here to make sure it's exactly what I wanted. You can see the almost completed car on my activity feed. That is about 10 minutes of work to get it to that point. If you're interested in Affinity Designer you can check out any of the hundreds of YouTube vids.

I haven't had any issues with the rattle, but the did patch an issue with the rotation of the wheel recently (not the latest update). I have my wheel rotation set to 900 degrees because i like to have a quicker steering rack. It's possible you may have your in-game FFB setting set too high for the wheel. I can record and send you my in game and on-wheel settings when i get home. I usually prefer to have mine set on the heavier side as my IRL has an aggressive caster setup and i uses a smaller diameter wheel on the track. Of course this doesn't always work because GT Sport will simulate the in-game car's characteristics for power-steering (991 porsche feels light AF, the 996 feels perfect, and the F40 makes my arms sore)

It's the best it's ever been right now, I wrote the setting down but I'm not at home right now. Send me your settings if you don't mind and I try them out. You never know.....

Take this as a complaint or knowledge for later. There are 2 different Bugatti VGT, a Gr1 and GrX. Neither one was specified in the selection by the driver of the combo listing in this feed. Don't spend 2 mil if you don't have to

@THRASH specified as follows:

Prize A:
Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo
1,626 HP 3,086 lbs.
$1,000,000 (sorry)
Blue Moon Bay Speedway
13:00 Fine Weather
Racing Medium Tires
AVG Lap Time 36.000

Horsepower, weight and credits should clarify the doubt.
