I'm getting really annoyed here. Playing around with field of view settings (that's ok) and then trying to play around with HUD settings.
I need the controller to move the things around. Every time I start that controller it ***** takes over as the primary controller. You can't change it back to the wheel in game. So, if I want to test drive the new setting I have to quit the game, start GTSPORT to reactivate or restart my ps4 and only activate my steering wheel .....
Talking about Field of View...
The video below explains what it means. First three minutes are intro. Next 4 minutes gives some detail
I found
this page to do the easy calculation for Project Cars 2
- I have a 55" TV (48" wide)
- I moved my chair as close as possible to the TV and then measured the distance my eyes are from the TV : approx 42" (My face also lines up to the center of the TV)
- The calculator comes up with a FOV of 59!!!
Now, 43" sounds close and with a FOV setting of 59 you think you can see nothing besides you, but with the high definition and frame rate, the picture is good. You brain treats it as a 48" wide and 36" high window into real life. The distances and perspectives are realistic. You have a much better feel for when to brake and turn in.
There are limits though - You won't drive with you nose against the TV to get a FOV of 180... LOL
One problem thought in cockpit view is that it is difficult to see the instrument panel. I "rediscovered" helmet view and realized that the camera positions are different (I though helmet view is just putting a helmet on and add those movement and blurring)
I mapped seat forward, seat backward, seat up and seat down buttons on my key board and it is easy to get the instrument panel in view and still see the road.
You can also change a lot of settings in helmet view with movement and blurring. I found the leaning towards the corners a bit nauseating, but you can turn it way down or even off. Same with the blurring.
