So good to hear from you Steve. And even better to hear you're in good spirits. Trust me, you're an inspiration as I deal with my own health issues. Hopefully we'll both be back in the saddle before too long. As I'm sure you've noticed, Mike has been keeping us all informed on your progress. He's certainly a good friend to have in your corner.

Hope you're comfortable pain wise, and not going too crazy from boredom. You look great in the picture, and I'm relieved to see there's no tube snaked down your throat. Wait, I mean a breathing tube, not... Oh, nevermind.

Take care bud, and another special thanks to Mike for keeping us updated. You Canadians are alright. :sly::cheers:

Wow guys, you’ve had me in tears more than once, I just don’t know how I can express the outpouring of good thoughts and wellwishes from all of you. All of you racing all last Monday in yellow cars was very touching. Also reading comments in the General SNAIL racing thread was very moving.
Well I’m alive and very lucky, albeit with some serious bone breakage. I was on an SV650 Suzuki on my to Montreal to see a friend for a couple of days, when a young lad decided he wasn’t going to stop. I saw him coming but when I realized he wasn’t going to stop it was too late, I was hard on the brakes and getting ready to bale but I nailed him on his front right corner with my left leg taking the brunt. I remember everything and never passed out, I went to hell for an hr in the back of an ambulance patience transfer vehicle, no suspension and no pain killer from them. Was very brutal. I am perfectly fine from the waist up. My right femur and right hip is fratured. It’s all pinned together. My left femur busted through my left pelvis and broke my left hip and it is all pinned together now. I have a torn ligament on the rear of left knee. All that above was thirteen hrs in the OR. Then on Wed it was another five hours to fix the left fibula and tibia which required a long rod down the middle with numerous pins. Then the fun part was the surgeons reconstructing my entire left foot. So that’s it on a nutshell, I am now in the Ortho rehab where they are saying I can’t put any wieight on my left foot for 4 to 6 weeks. But we’ll see, I have other plans!
Thanks again to all.
Mike visited today and it was great to have some laughs, which I’m planning on doing everyday no matter!

Good to see your in good hands. Praying for you and quick healing!!

Heyyyy Steve!!!! Great to see you checking in, you've been on our minds every day since the big event.

No left foot braking, but at least your go-fast foot isn't too bad. Here's to making a quick recovery from a Battered old Bastard to your old bitter self.
Hang in there!!!

Right on @aerolite! Happy to see you’re smiling at least, my dad had an accident a few years before I was born where his arm flew out the car window as they rolled the car over. Long story short it was dangling by a tendon, he said the only thing that kept him sane was a good laugh now and then during recovery and lots of beer  With any luck you won’t be as deformed as my old man once things are done healing (at least physically) and you’ll be back on track shortly! Take er easy bud, we’re all with ya even though most of us are thousands of miles away!

It's true love........ When I was in on Saturday, I couldn't believe how good he looked, I expected to see Frankenstein's monster all tubed and cabled up with a probe up his keester being fed by a pump. I was almost disappointed......almost. Colts is gonna come up and take care of the sheep....as only Colts can....what a trooper.
Maybe we can get Mexifryboy to give Aerosteel some pointers for using a controller so he can join us in the weeks to come......I mean, there's nothing wrong with his fingers.

Now on to tonight.

There will be inclement weather tonight.....first race clear, second race fog half way through, third race fog with rain.
Fuel for both cars will be 25 liters or less to start.
All races will be 18 laps.
Ahhhhhh, what else? I think that's it, if not, too bad.

Ahhh.....what would I do without Mikey!
Just got off the phone with him but he will still **** things up trying to update you guys. Have had a couple of very positive days and a huge milestone today when I stood up out of bed. Too much to explain what I have to do, but it was utterly exhausting and I almost didn’t succeed.
Thank god for pain meds, when I start getting close to med time, man it does ache some! With all the different breaks I think my left foot is going to be the Achilles heel...haha. It was totally smashed, I’ll post xRays when I get them.
Here’s a shot of me finally standing today, my good leg, the right, only has the broken femur and hip but I can put weight on it regardless. Day 11 and counting.....

Nice!! This is great to see so soon! Keep the updates and good news coming... and I can't wait to see that Xray, I need a new wallpaper for my phone. :D

This pretty much solidifies that if I'm ever in your predicament, I'm going to Canada for medical. In the states they would have sent you home an hour after surgery, loaded you up on drug prescriptions and told you you had to join a 3 month waiting list for any sort of rehab or physical therapy. If you can't tell I'm mega salty about US medical practices with all the 🤬 I've been through with my wife.

Makes me happy to see they are taking take of you! :)

I've actually been considering asking Mike or Steve to adopt me, so I can become a Canadian citizen. And no, I'm not willing to marry Mike!

I have been through so much B.S. over the past few months. The U.S. medical system is in an absolute state of disarray. When I broke my back several years ago, radiology, surgery, and treatments in general were done quickly. Now, you need an insurance pre-approval for anything, which is usually denied, then needs to be appealed, then approved. To get an MRI of my entire spine took ten weeks, done in three scans - thoracic, lumbar, and then cervical. In the meantime, I can't even think about having surgery approved until I've completed a session of physical therapy (done), and a round of epidural steroid injections (having last one this Thursday). Narcotics? As much as I want! I had to decline higher dosages because I don''t want to go through a tapering off later. It's just silly. Pre-approval takes a couple weeks, then scheduling takes a couple weeks, then results appointment takes a couple weeks, then a referral to another Doctor takes a couple weeks, then that scheduling takes a couple weeks, etc. It just drags on and on. For profit medical insurance companies have way too much influence on patient care. It's a huge conflict of interest. And all the while, I CAN'T SIMRACE!

Glad to see you're receiving top-notch care Steve. At this rate, you're going to be on the mend before me! I love your face in the second photo. "You want me to do what?!"

Sorry I didn’t make it last night. Just half hour before the race, I start feeling pretty bad. Laid down for an hour and a half. Went to work today and started feeling bad. Hurled my breakfast (cinnamon apple oatmeal, tasty, both times). Not complaining though, no Evel Knievel bike

injuries like some other guy. Speaking of which, I didn’t see Aero in the pics right away, just the cute nurse. I’d be asking for sponge baths every shift when she’s on duty! Oh and tell them you’re number 55, not 36. Barely standing and he’s already got a number plate. Sheesh!

Update: Went to the doctor today and found that what I have is a staff skin infection. Got some antibiotics and pain medication. Sleeping the whole day and now nodding in and out in a cold sweat. Never had this before and wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Nanananaanan badadadadaaaa....
LIBLMAO (lying in bed laughing my ass off)
Stood up out of the bed two times yesterday, definitely easier now that I knew what to do, but still real hard.
They are trying to get me moved to my local hospital (10 minutes from my house) and I might get some news on that today. Regardless of what happens, I’m in the hospital (or maybe a convalescence facilty) for six more weeks.
This is because of the way they had to repair my left femur/pelvic/hip bones. I’m not allowed to bend any more than 60 degrees at the hip as there could be a chance that the hip could dislocate which would be bad news. It takes eight weeks to heal strong enough that the worry of that is gone. That’s what makes standing so hard, try standing while leaning back at about a 15 degree angle and only use your right arm and leg to push up and away from the bed. I cannot put any weight on the left so have to hold it up all the while standing on my right which still has healing femur hip break.
Still on some very strong meds so I’m in a constant state of Lobbaness! Even with the meds I still get some good shots of pain sneak through, couldn’t imagine what it would be like without them.
I’m certainly missing all of you and the racing and it is going to be awhile before I sit in my rig again. When I do eventually get home I’ll likely only be able to sit in a chair so I’ll have to use a DS4 but I don’t care. In the meantime, be patient with Mike, I’m going to help him as much as I can which isn’t much. I will keep you guys updated. It takes a lot just to concentrate to write this much.
I had a great visit with Nick yesterday afternoon, thanks for coming by bud.
Hopefully Mike will drag his butt over here again today.
Talk to you all soon I hope!
Steve (Aero)

Glad to hear you

Wishing you all the best, - sponge baths, drugs, food, what else do you need ? Vape pen ? A glass or two of your favorite beverage ?

The guys all want more pics of that cute blonde. If you could get a pic of her holding a sponge you will have the envy of the entire thread.

How is the coffee? :banghead::lol:

wishing you and your wife a speedy and smooth recovery.

Great to hear from you again as usual Aero. Would really be good to get you that much closer to home. 10 minutes? Pretty good.
Seems things are coming along and you have it pretty much figured out.
One thing though, whatever you do, don't fall. Reason I say so is some people in circumstances try to walk on their own before time and then WHAMM!.....next thing you know is on the floor with bong up head or broken arm, foot or whatever and back to square one so please be mindful bro.

Glad to see that they are getting used to standing, just don't over do it. Also glad to see that you are doing well. Sent you a card, hope you enjoy it.

I was planning on seeing my wife, Aeromend today, but a babysitting gig came up, so it will have to be tomorrow. I'm glad Nick,(Dret) spent some time with him yesterday. By the way, the blond nurse and I are involved behind his back.....shhhhhh. Yes she is natural. I think I'll buy her a house to take away from me, won't be the first.

MONDAY

I'm a little slow,(shut up), this week posting for Monday. I'm pretty sure on the cars, but need to find a track to suit them properly. I'm gonna test tonight and narrow it down to be able to post either later tonight or tomorrow morning. Believe me, I have a plan. I'm also gonna run it by the other Cheeze to see what he thinks, as if it matters. Lol.

Had a pretty good laugh tonight at the hospital, Misses Aero (aka Uku aka Denise) brought me a package from some far away place! An adult Hulu dance costume was inside along with a card. Of course I had to try the costume on, especially as it was shift change for the nurses and they certainly wondered wtf was going on! Yes Shaun, Denise said first thing she would do when I got home was put the costume on and dance the “O’howiwannalay’ya”dance. Awesome, thanks for that bud
