Have an idea why PD made all the tires so grippy now. It helps reduce accidents in Sport mode. Before people actually had to be decent drivers not to cause a crash if they screwed up a corner entry. Now, it’s almost impossible to screw it up even if you tried.

I suppose this could be a good thing. I mean, even before GTS didn’t have very realistic physics, so it’s not such a change anyway. Plus the game is much more of a fantasy than being based on anything real with all these fake cars and tracks that you may just excuse the physics by the same token as well.

Mclaren F1 WFG winner RUDY VAN BUREN 3 days ago said console ain’t no sim.

Dunno what this comic grip levels is for but the game has lack of tires options in the REAL sim racing handling model

"PC master race".It does not work though if you talk about AC or Pcars (just saying....).
BTW he is right.Console is a platform and not a sim.....

Yep it's totally different, you can't just bang the throttle down now at TC 2 as you could before. I think it's probably an improvement though as it's not really helping you to go faster now, it's more helping you avoid spinning out than anything, if you mash the throttle now you'll just lose time.
What level of TCS are you using?

TC 3, the default setting. And I've only tried the F-Type so far and it behaves differently. Don't know about other cars.

Can people post there lap times differences on known sports tires track and car combination.

At dragon trail in the GTI 205 with sports softs i did a 2.14.3 yesterday in the daily race.

today with the same track car and condition settings i am doing 2.13.1 with comfort softs easily.

The next tire in options is comforts medium and that is 2.18.2 tire. A difference of 4 seconds with nothing in between

With sport softs i got a 2.09 without trying. Such a drastic change is unwarranted and not welcome

The car on sports softs just goes everywhere with full throttle on turning and exits. this is NOT how to learn to manage grip levels. Thus update has been primarily designed for single mothers and primary school children play GT SPORT for the first time.

I have started sim racing for 2 years since black friday 2015 and have come to expect more from long term sim people, but looks like quite a few people are not into the whole SIMULATION thing and more into the arcade games like NFS.

But for those who are into the simulation PD has really put 2 fingers up at proper sim racers who have the skill to maximise car handling.
Disappointing too be honest.

This is what I was waiting for, some lap times on different compounds pre and post update.
I was hoping to hear about some great improvement, but will just stay where I am for now.

Wow. After just a few minutes with Porsche 911 I have to admit. PD has done a great job. Tires finally feel like actual tires and not like butter. It's amazingly controllable, yet challenging when pushing the car to its limits.

Well done.
i need to join your lobby and spectate as you drive. Can I ?

It's a 200bhp hot hatch... it never belonged on Trofeo level tyres (I doubt you can even get Trofeo's to fit the Peugeot).

Ideally, the car should be on comfort softs, and definitely no higher than sports hard.

Best thing about this update is the connection levels..we can now see who's get bad internet

And why that is so important ? apart from when you are trying to overtake someone with serious lag issues never experienced an issue with the connection quality of other users, just wondering if I am missing something.

I don't see why it was necessary for you to send that twice.

Quit being ridiculous. GT Sport is more SIM then Pcars2 only Assetto Corsa has it beat there. GT Sport is still a better game than any of them.
GT Sport more sim than Pcars 2?

LMAO

When GT get a tyre model according every car category, pressure, temperature and simulated tyre flex (not only visual) call me.

When GT get more real cars, an not PD Gr1,3,4,B race car based on real models... Call me

When GT get a tree point rotation car model, call me

When GT get rid off the "hand of God" that helps to recover the car even with all types off aids deactivated call me.

When GT get better colision physics and mechanical and visual damage, call me.

When GT get brake fade, call me.

Until then, fun game, but not at all a Sim...

One thing you are right, assetto corsa just cruch GT in simulation

To the people complaining about tires being more grippy now. Have you ever been on track day with sports tires and noticed how grippy sports tires actually are? Before this update sports tires were completely botched and offered grip levels of a banana peel. Now they are much more representative of sports tires in real life.

It's a bit pointless for me, you could see before who had bad/acting up internet, their cars jumped about the track. This still happens and it also seems to make it harder for me to drive too, maybe a bit more so than before due to the physics change.

I agree. I mean the Audi TT in the game was like driving on an oil slick. Drive one for real and the grip is immense.

I raced my RCZ Gr.3 at Nurb GP when they first put up that race and I had to relearn everything. It didn’t feel like it was the same car I had raced at Suzuka earlier. Not sure I like it when they fundamentally change the physics over a months after release.

I’ll get used to it obviously. I was slower than two days ago as I had lost all my reference points. Should be better after a few races.

PSS might be branded 'super sports', but they are a fully treaded all season tyre (all season meaning for British weather, not for countries where it snows!), like the Conti SC6. They aren't a competitor for the MPS Cup/Pirelli Trofeo (road/track hybrid), which is where 'sports' tyres fit in GTS (if the tread pattern displayed in the game is representative).

So, can you tell me if standing starts are more realistic now as well?

Yeah there's a lot of misconception when it comes to real life comparisons. I remember some amateur I watched on Youtube a while back who got a chance to try one of the Le Mans cars. He said it was one of the easiest cars he had ever driven and he almost felt like the car drove itself in some corners. He was very surprised by his experience. But he also said that he hesitated to reveal his thoughts because he was afraid to anger a lot of people that were of the mindset that racers are some kind of superhumans that have tamed the wild beast that is the race car.

A race car is designed to work best at the upper reaches of its limit as that's the operating window its expected to be working in. It will however probably be a pig to drive at slower speeds. A road car is designed to be operated at the lower reaches of its ability so is best suited to those speeds. The quicker you go in one, the harder it becomes to drive. It's no wonder that an amateur managed to drive one relatively quickly, and found it easy, since that's what it was designed for and set up to do. Down force, racing tyres and suspension set up for a particular track will make a race car feel like it's doing most of the work for you.

On track a racing car is in it's element. A road car, even a sporting one, isn't. It's a fish out of water.

Thats my other drive, and when i drive it fast on country roads the car gets really light and slippery as i push on.

So stop talking whack about grippy.

Grippy at 30 mph because thats how you drive well below tire threshold. So cool yourself about a sports audi TT is grippy, yet when my road car can be made to be slippery with road tires when driving hard.
