Got surprised by my older sister this morning when she got me this:

That red thing is jelly too.

Anyway, I found some sick Velociraptor skeleton model for a damn low price on Amiami. I was very surprised that after 5 years, they still have it in stock. I'll likely put an order on that next month because it reminded me of the BugZee NSX JGTCs that are due in May. Kinda looking forward to that, even though I completely forgot about them.

Aw, the Isuzu isn't that bad... I like old Bellets (?)! Calling it crap is a bit harsh... :(
F-Toys version's bit crappy. :D

Well, judging by the wagon in your last quoted post below, plastic castings are certainly possible for Auto World. Why didn't they use them, that's another question... Budget cuts? Budget allocation to other car lines?
Balancing cost is critical. I couldn't live with those headlights on such a fine casting, but Auto World apparently are comfortable with them. *shrug*
does anyone here know about the existence of a good 1/64 Buick Roadmaster model? I know bigger ones exist, but those cost an arm and a leg and I can't afford that right now...
I'd be interested in a minicar version of that, too.
What have I done??? :scared:
If you don't have one of those, that would be a hard one to say "no" to. :D
I think it's less a case of open vs. closed than it is 2 differently equipped cars. IRL hidden headlights were an option, and the vast majority didn't have them.
Ah, okay. I'm sure you are right, I know nothing about them.
I see cup noodles and hot dogs on the menu for the next couple of weeks

Edit: has there ever been a 510 with an engine and openable hood?

I don't care about the hood(answer to your question I believe is "no"), but this casting looks good.
What I saw in Japan
One of my favorites.

You and me both. That would be sweet.

Right? Greenlight could pull it off, I reckon; after all, they have already have your favorite wagon of all time (the mighty Sir Truckster), so they could use another beefy muscle wagon on their lineup... Who knows? 💡

F-Toys version's bit crappy. :D

Still, s'a good car, no? Crappy casting or not... I have a guy who would agree with me;

Nah, it's a Bellett. I'm sure it's absolutely perfect! :P :embarrassed:

See? He knows... :sly:

I could somewhat live with those headlights if all the moving parts were functional and reliable, but I sure wouldn't be able to live with them if their execution was as half-assed as it is in your 'Stang. Of course, the better idea would be using plastic casings for the headlights, but I do not know how Auto World manages their budget so I won't dare to claim things I don't have any experience in.

I'd be interested in a minicar version of that, too.

Another party approves! There must be demand for this, I bet my baseball caps on it... :D

If you don't have one of those, that would be a hard one to say "no" to. :D

Well it can be easy, especially when most larger-sized models are either DIY resin kits (and I am not a build-it-yourself type person, I can tell you that much ) or models for the sedan (like Dutch company GLM's own model). There's a surprising shortage of already-built Buick Roadmaster wagon scale models, almost all of them focus on the old 1960's coupe... Nothing wrong against that mind you, but where's the love for the 'Vette-powered Lazy Susan Wagon?

If this is the casting for the upcoming track series I'm gonna loose my mind... This little beauty with the speedhunters tampo =:drool::drool:

Yeah, I think GL are the best bet. Especially now they have the rights to do vehicles from The Walking Dead. It's a long short because it only appeared briefly in one episode but hey, we can dream right? :embarrassed:

Well, who knows, although that Roadmaster doesn't seem to be much more than a background car for bigger things... Besides, we both know that GL is clearly aiming for dat 1/64 Aztek release, and that should...

...no, it must happen. 💡

Kyosho 1:64 - Aston Martin DB5
To me, this is one of the coolest cars you've ever posted.👍

Let me tell you how that green Dodge Viper & F-Toys Isuzu Bellet got selected for the diorama role: They look #$%*@! up. From certain angle(s). Therefore, I didn't care if they got dusty or bumped around once in awhile. :D

I do like them from their current angles though, so I use them in the background.

Still, s'a good car, no? Crappy casting or not... I have a guy who would agree with me;
See? He knows... :sly:
He's a Isuzu Bellett fangoat though. He'll be the first to admit that.

No Hugo, that's not true at all. We are the collectors. It is our job, our duty, our mission to ignorantly whine & complain about cars brands fail to deliver in exactly the way we wanted to see them delivered. It's the best(Regular Car Review: Miata).
Another party approves! There must be demand for this, I bet my baseball caps on it... :D
Me & Jarrod will buy one each, so I can guarantee that they will sell at least three. We talk about the Caprice wagon all the time, and yes, we are fan of all of them(was the other one Oldsmobile?). 👍

I think that comment was made in regards to Gulf Porsche by Hot Wheels.

I was trying to remember why we were discussing this car in the first place. That's right. Walking Dead. 👍
What's with the 3D printed Toyota FT-1 ?

It looks like it's sporting Matchbox wheels.
I think it's the same car he mentioned in another video before. In it, he didn't tell us about the car, but it was explained how he was using it as a stand. Blister/card stand is no joke. It's bit tricky, as different manufacturers & series cards position blisters at different heights. I'm lazy so when I need one, you see me using bottle caps, pocket knife, etc.
Completely forgot I got this yesterday as well (it was thrown in for free along with a '73 Celica and Datsun truck cuz I got the Gulf Porsche)
Still prefer the stock paint they had I think in blue, also red, but this one I think we all kind of liked also. 👍

Yes! The Aztek can't be released quickly enough.

Hurry up Greenlight!

Actually I was going to ask you why you chose those particular two as background cars. They're perfect in that role. Please, don't ever change them. :D

Guilty.

Interesting little bit of history of this car.

FronteSS360-300x225.jpg

This car was driven by Stirling Moss in 1968 over the 750km of the Autostrada A1 in Italy, connecting Milan to Napoli. The car achieved an average speed of 124.44 km/h, which was quite fast for a kei car at the time. It was accompagnied by a yellow Fronte driven by Mitsuo Itoh.

Wheels are a million times better than the ones on the original batch of Supra's released last year.

I'll post the Tomica van later, for some reason the pics wouldn't work when I was putting this post together.

I thought you were meant to pick the best-looking cars for your diorama? Then again, I don't have one so my criteria of choice may be a bit messed up... Judging by the use you give them, it makes sense to pick crappy castings to fill background actor roles.

See? Crappy cars have their purpose in life! :sly:

Well, at least he's honest about it...

So it's our job to nitpick, whine and be pedantic like it's our life on the line? That's... bold, to say the least, but complaining is key to have key features replaced and/or improved. Let's just change the "ignorantly" to "wisely", because we can't waste resources like that. :sly:

I think that comment was made in regards to Gulf Porsche by Hot Wheels.

It was? Well, I probably missed it, so thanks for clarifying. 👍

Also, that Fronte is incredible, @Spacegoat. And its story just makes the casting even better; to think that Sir Moss managed 124 km/h on a puny kei in an Italian autostrada...
I can certainly see why Shinji-san loves the TLV Fronte. 👍

Great models once again @Spacegoat

Love the re-colour of the Escort. Odyssey looks real nice too.
Dat Suzuki doe! :drool::drool::drool:

That's actually my first Fronte. Slick little casting, very impressed with it. :embarrassed:
I can certainly see why Shinji-san loves the TLV Fronte. 👍

Shinji-san didn't even know who Stirling Moss is! :P Yeah though, he was totally right about the Fronte.

And now that the pics are working, here's the Tomica van. I'll be honest it looks a little weird, it's very narrow? But I still like it. :dopey:

That's actually my first Fronte. Slick little casting, very impressed with it. :embarrassed:

Let me tell, you picked a good place to begin your initiation rites... You picked a Fronte with a great backstory, one you weren't even aware of. So in the end, you got both a good scale model and a good history lesson. Win-win situation! 👍

Shinji-san didn't even know who Stirling Moss is! :P Yeah though, he was totally right about the Fronte.

How and why, those are my first two questions. :boggled:

I kid, I kid, Moss wasn't exactly a famous racer everywhere in the world... Even still, Shinji-san is always right about the Fronte, because that is still one of the best cheap TLV castings. It sure beats an overpriced Corolla, that much I can say...

Hey @R1600Turbo you were mentioned on the Lamley Group blog 👍

Yeah, those are great sets of cars, no doubt about it, there's a little bit of everything for all kinds of collectors. Fantasy castings, real-life cars, racing vehicles... It can be a crapshoot, but this time Mattel nailed it. I love the Castrol colors on the Escort (overplayed or not, they work), and the Odyssey is everything I wanted and more. And after knowing that its livery is actually based on a real-life racing Honda City, I can only love it more than ever. A racing Honda Odyssey, likeable? You bet your bonnet on that!

Yes great case indeed, probably the best one so far imo. That Odyssey is gonna be hard to find on the pegs :grumpy:
