I also had one, but mine was the Construction set. And made in Mexico, I might add. Disgustingly rare today, and even more expensive.

I remember the construction set.. never had it though.
The playset has reminded me of one my first ever Hot wheels, i can't remember the name of it, but it was a black van that had the front vents and rear lights of a Corvette, it was a T-Top with beige interior and it had a Hi-Raker rear... i think it was called Vandal or something like that.

[EDIT] just found a pic of it, it was called 'Vette Van'.
I had that and the C2 Corvette (black) Hi-Raker and a white and blue tow truck, those were my first ever HW's.
My brother gave me an old HW he had for years aswell (don't have it anymore), it was a blue model T Ford, redline wheels and grey interior, it had a metal collectors badge aswell.

[EDIT] i'm confusing myself with the collectors badge, i think it may have been for another car he gave me (some weird green custom thing with a bubble roof).

You guys reminded me of the old, what must've been a Tomica "Shell" gas station I had as a kid. It was very similar to this, except the "shell" logo sign would light up.

And as usual, when you search for some obscure Tomica stuff, interesting stuff like this would pop up. Hmmm...... throwback.

Buick Bengal - IIRC. Buried deep within my boxes of cars now, but I found this pic and posted it because you guys were talking about the Ferraris. I have the BMW, too - but it's a Corgi, not the HW knock-off. I know I have pics of it somewhere - but I'm wading through pics here and totally lost now. Maybe I'll go dig the BMW up and take another pic.

EDIT: Yeah, it is the Buick Bengal, Doctor, check out the dashboard on the real car.

Nice playsets, never seen these sets before when I was a kid, I only got the newer ones from the 90's and 00's. Knowing these sets, they can be up to at least $200 dollars or more if they were new and never opened and played with. And those are the rarer ones.

And that CRX looks amazing. 👍

Those wheels look great on luxury cars. It'd look a lot better if the tire thickness wasn't so thin and that the wheel wasn't extruding outwards. The ones I like more are those in the concave shape.

Oh.. I think the guys at Buick need to have a word with Fisker about stealing their grill design.

As for the Testarossa... I'm not gonna start an argument about Matchbox being better than HW and Corgi, but the Matchbox cast kills both of them. Though the recent HW 308 GTS is simply perfection.

Since I seen that show, I wanted the GT500KR version of KITT. But nope, I don't think anyone made it. :indiff:

Thanks, Cardiac - wanted an answer from someone who knew about the car. The show bombed, of course, in fact if not for the car there was nothing else.
I can just imagine a 1:18.

Still looking for the Tran-Am KITT STILL! :grumpy:

Will keep an eye out for you. I can't believe anybody not having one - that is a must in any collection.

No argument about MB. My Brand. Love it. Got the lime green Civic, lime green Firebird Formula, and Buick Century Patrol car a few weeks ago - beyooooutiful! Also picked up a natty Coyote 500 and the new 2011 Ford Interceptor (grey and blue Airport Police).

Who stole whose design? The Bengal was a 2001, wasn't it? Looks like tiger teeth to me.

Yep, I was looking around, never seen nor heard of a scale, except the Trans-Am one. I wonder if anyone else out there made it even after the flop of the remake. But I doubt it.

Yeah, probably other collectors or worse, 🤬 scalpers took them all. But thanks for looking out Harry, I'm still looking for one myself as well. Soon, it'll be in my collection.

I have two 850i's as well. One is a white Corgi with opening doors and the other is a smaller metallic blue Hot Wheels.
I also have a Hot Wheels Mercedes SL that notes something about Corgi on STDC.
Wonderful casting, kinda wish I didn't drill it open.

I have only found one KITT Trans Am, and that kinda surprises me to be honest.
The casting is wonderfully scaled, so I cracked mine open, stripped and primed it for different paint.
I'll get another someday and keep it packaged.

The Corgi 850i that I have is the white one, opening doors, blue tampo, etc. I have the HW, too, yes smaller, metalflake blue . . . with red interior? Not sure - haven't looked at it for awhile.

Andy - yes, I have the KITT. I can't believe you don't have one!

Yuppp, that's mine. I got mine at Goodwill months ago and naturally, it was beat to death, so I plan on restoring it.
All I have got around to doing however is remove that HUGE tampo on the hood.

Those are the only to 8 Series that you have? If so, than those are (as I'm sure you've figured out) precisely the two that I have! Although my HW one has lace wheels.

Zach - yes, I think those are the only two 8 series I have. The HW is old - the wheels give it away. Some of the castings I've seen have B pillars, some don't.

As we discussed a long time ago in this thread, MB does a fairly decent job of reproducing the proportions, and details - still uncontaminated by the Mattel frenzy of dominating the market for dollars.

Be glad you are not a Barbie collector - they spend a mint of money keeping up with the models that Mattel produces. I think I saw the new Christmas Barbie on the shelf for around $50.00.

Well, collecting Barbies is quite the thing - also discussed in here before - I think it was Diego who came in here and said there were 60 year old ladies at the Barbie Collector Forums who had collections dating back decades. Expensive collecting those (even if you wanted to) in comparison to the dollars (and no sense) we throw into ours.

Don't ask me what he was doing in their Forum - but pertinent info to collector types anyway.
