I'm beginning to think we need an actual Hot Wheels Collector's thread

Here, let me bring back some balance for you in the form of yet another dirty redline from my display, this time a Turbofire in antifreeze. This thing wasn't as dirty as it got cleaned up with my shirt once or twice.

All cleaned up, the Antifreeze color really wakes up. I love this car, it's one of my favorite castings of the redline era, I love it's futuristic design.

If it wasn't for the missing chrome in a couple of the wheels this thing would be very near mint, but I refuse to touch it up, original it will stay.

Here is the part that I like the most of this car by far, the enormous oval tail-lamp.

I sure hope to one day land one to restore, I'd try to adjust the stance of the thing.

The chassis isn't as shiny, though.

This car and the Torero are two of my favorite redline-era castings because of their truly futuristic design with an undeniable 60s flavour.

The futuristic designs of HW blow me away. If you look closely you'll find that the Chaparral 2X looks very close to a certain HW. And one that was designed many, many years ago. HW stands alone in that aspect.

Nope. I can't justify the cost of going there just to get stuff I already own. There is a 2nd location (though it's probably not the one with the Hot Wheels), at 60 East Beaver Creek, Richmond Hill.

You already have them? I see only two locations on my flyer both being about the same distance from me, and it's quite tempting, but . . . nah. :(

If we keep breaking it up into separate threads there'd be about 5 1/64 threads alone.

You're taking it for granted that there is something wrong with that? :) Is that straw sticking out of that post's boots?
Actually I'd love to see an authentic 1:64 Hot Wheels. I don't think there are many around. I do have a 1:18 Danica Patrick remote controlled Hot Wheels which was posted here years ago as a background to a bunch of Danica Patrick Mainlines.
I believe the Tomica/Kyosho 1:64 trend here began about two years ago, and has gained full momentum now. Nothing wrong with seeing fancy and expensive scale models in here, though it doesn't tie up too well with the title of the thread. However, many of the former HW collectors seem to have up and moved, and I'm hoping we didn't turn them off. Fortunately, collectors like Cano still post their HW stuff. Unashamedly. :D
And I do, too.

Had all 6 since the day they hit Walmart 3 years ago. I am a lucky one.

I blame Walmart for not updating their inventory. Blame it all on them.

The thread title is what ensure we don't get merged with the Scale Model thread since HW/MBX are more toys than "scale models". Tomicas and Kyoshos can get moved into that thread if the demand for change is that necessary, but if you guys have noticed, only a small number of contributors post any 1:64s (and smaller) in that thread anyway. It would seem this thread has pretty much been a "1:64 thread" for years by unspoken consensus. That said, does anyone feel the change is necessary at this point?

True it is, but we'd be 8 years too late to be complaining about that now. At least it isn't a Koeniggsegg. Let's be grateful it didn't reach that level.

I'm beginning to think we need an actual Hot Wheels Collector's thread; this one is turning out to be more of a 1:64 Scale Models thread - and a good one, too. ;)
I think bona-fide HW collectors will know the difference.
If you wanna volunteer to go back thru the 1240+ pages & separate the hot wheels posts & 1/64 scale model posts, that is actually a great idea. I like both, and while I don't really see any problems in this thread(maybe because I'm heavily into both), I totally see where you are coming from.

Poor noobs who gets confused between the 'collector' thread & 'customs'(or whatever it was called) thread.

I stopped by a Walmart & TRU today. I took this photo at my Walmart. TRU wasn't much better(fully stocked with OLD cars).

They suck so hard.
That said, does anyone feel the change is necessary at this point?
I vote "no", but I'd go along with whatever you guys wanna do. Granted, interests & posts on TLVs & Kyosho's been on a rise, but as for decrease on Hot Wheels posts, I put that squarely on the Mattel fans. Gotbeefboy's pretty much doing all the work. I also put it on Mattel. If I could actually find the cars I want at my stores, I'd have posted pages of them. Grateful Dead cars, no. Retro Entertainment, no. Cereal cars, no. Candy bar cars, no. You name it, no.
Begging for a wheel swap/detail job. Too bad it's ruined with large rear wheels.
Needs Real Riders.

2013 Norev - Retro
Simca 1000 Rallye

#hotwheels

What a lovely Norev you got there, I don't see many being posted here. I'd post my own Norev (a Dacia Duster rally car), but I can't seem to find it... Which is rather unusual, I know where most of my cars are.

Yeah cool just take really snide shots at what I said, cool man.

You do know he was just joking about it, correct? He wasn't really trying to be snide towards your words, at least I think that much. There's no need to be upset over it.

I was actually agreeing with you. We occasionally have newcomers who get the two existing threads mixed up(collectors & customs), let alone three. And while I referred to them as noobs, I'm not putting them down either. It's easy for the noobies to get bit mixed up in a new environment.

Double post because english classes. Pepople, how would you call a surface such as the one on the hood and roof of this Audi?

or, in this picture, just the hood?

I can't find the word in english to describe it. It's for the blog's upcoming post.

Thanks in advance :D:tup:

Just say drywall bonnet, lizard back, pimpled teen, lemon head, orange head, grapefruit head. What goofy name you can translate to Spanish to make even more goofier.

Seriously, just use "Texture".

English lessons on customising? Whatever next? Go home, kids! And gerroff the damn lawn!! Grrrrr . . .

It has a coarse finish.
It has a rough, sandpapery finish.
The finish is minutely pimpled.
It is unfinished and lightly textured.
The finish is sprinkled with fine particulate.
It has an unrefined, unpolished finish.
It has a fine gritty finish.
The finish is rough-hewn.
'The car got goosebumps but nuttin' to worry 'bout if ya like it rough.'

There goes my tea-break. Another bunch of wordiness.

@yabiggoose - relax, chum, we love you. In fact everybody in this thread is valuable to us - why would we go out to be nasty to you. I imagine us all seated around a large table, pulling out cars and showing one another our loot, wanting approval, or some pat on the back about what we scored, or bringing some new info to the table, or just asking questions about something.
Do we have heated discussions? You bet. With respect. If you go back and read from the start - something I always recommend people do when they first come in here (ten pages a day and you will eventually catch up ;) ) - you will see the truth of that.
But we still wake up the next day and get back to sitting around this table with each other.
And just like young men and women seated around a table discussing stuff, we joke, we rag on each other, we boost each other's morale when down, and we never fear to speak our minds sincerely when called for.
I saw a6m5 as supporting your cause - the bugger doesn't have one spiteful bone in his body, and I've never seen him being deliberately offensive.
You have to remember that when you stick your foot out though, it could get stomped on, whether by accident or as a wake-up call to watch your toes. :)
So . . . it's all good. If we were really seated around a table I would give you one of my extra cars to cheer you up. ;)

Just wanted to point out to any Extreme collecters out there that a number of Venezuelan hot wheels are rolling through eBay right now. These are easily some of the rarest cars you will ever see. If you're inclined, I'd take a look. (I'm not sure the deal with $26 shipping but if any of them stick under $60, they're a bargain!

@Photon - "I imagine us all seated around a large table, pulling out cars and showing one another our loot"

That'd be quite an enormous table! I'll go even further. The cars are passed down the table on redline hot wheels track. When they get to the end, they are sent back with boosters!

Cars I've been meaning to post:

CM's Mitsubishi Starion + Lancer

Mazda Familia/323

Lancia Delta S4

Hot Wheels Paddy Wagon/Copper Stopper(one in the middle is new)

Better late than never on the CM's, right @Spacegoat ? :p

"Been meaning to post"? Come on Shinji, you're slacking on the job, I need my dose of daily jealousy from seeing your amazing cars. How am I supposed to keep my jealousy levels in check without my daily doses? :irked:

On a more serious note, those CMs are great stuff, the Mazda is great as I've seen before (since you actually directed to the (now closed) Japanese webpage that had a massive collection of them). The Delta is Sub-zero material, but that much is obvious. The Lancer looks a bit off for me, perhaps my least favourite of the bunch. But then it's counterbalanced by the magnificent Ralliart-sponsored Chrysler Conq... er, I mean Mitsubishi Starion. Look at that thing! What a great piece of kit...
