That Fiat, I'd rate that as an achievement. Be on a lookout for it, J-Dawg. Kenmeri didn't disappoint, but the Fiat absolutely stole its thunder!

I'm pretty sure he sells more to American collectors than domestic. If they sold more to the U.S. than rest of the world, that was something I just wondered. As for the partnership with the Lamley blog, it's been a win for not just the Japan Booster & Lamley, but for the collectors & readers as well. 👍

Definitely more to the US than Japan, but there is a lot going to South America, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Australia as well.

It is funny how a few years ago TLV collectors in the US were seriously in the double digits, and that is not an exaggeration. Guys like Toyotageek and Jeff Koch were on board very early, and my first introduction was a few years ago at the Matchbox Convention in Albuquerque (still one of the best diecast shows around), and I think my first purchase was a Skyline Van. It was all downhill from there. It is nice to see a growing number of collectors, but it will always be limited because of how expensive they are.

And, why not show some cars I would love to see them do, with a heavy focus on Neo:















The rest of the time I just like to be surprised. TLV is my JDM education.

By the way, one of these cars might be my favorite car....uh....ever. Can you guess?

Most mexican fast food is crap around here, so when you do find good ones, they are real treat. When I read your post, I was already done with their super delicious beef tacos, but I took a pic of the fish tacos for you.
Their rice, refried beans are perfect, but man.... their hot sauce. #1.

Although I rate this place("Muchas Gracias") #1 fast food Mexican food in the world, I have similar opinion as you on the Japanese food available in the U.S., so I can totally respect where you are coming from on this one.

My "realistic" TLV wishlist includes the following:

1970-78 Mazda RX-2

1991-94 Nissan Primera (They already make a standard Tomica version and Tomica Limited)

1988-89 Mazda 323 GT (extremely rare, especially in the US)

1990-95 Toyota Starlet GT Turbo

2003 Mazda MX-5 Coupe (179 made)

etc, etc, etc.

The Lexus and Altezza and that Toyota box with wheels would be a meh from me. However, the 300ZX, Prelude (1st gen) or 4th gen, or 5th gen like John posted but as the Motegi version (gold paint), an old Accord, Nissan Figaro, and Honda Del-Sol, would suit me down to the ground.. ooh, and an ap1 Honda S2000, and 87 Daihatsu Charade GTTI, and a Tommy Kaira ZZ-S. Do it! TLV, Do it!..

I think I agree with 80~90% of both your lists. Off the top of my head, here is my ultra short list.

@R1600Turbo - Starlet's a very cool selection, but I'd prefer the older ones(preferably 3dr hatch):

Oh man, so much to quote... So I won't bother.

@a6m5, the 131 is indeed a steal, there's no other way to put it. If it weren't for the coin in the picture, I would never guess that's a 1/64. Just brilliant. And it gets bonus points from me for being a Rali de Portugal car. Icing on top of the pizza (I know, pizzas don't have icings, just roll with it), really.

As for my TLV list, nothing that hasn't been said by other users here. I agree with @R1600Turbo on the Primera bit, I just adore that car. And it would be even better if TLV did this:

(Actually, I found there are scale models for this, but they're larger size models (i.e. 1/43). Still, do it Tomica, imagine the greatness! )

I also agree with @jtl46 on the Fairlady Z Z32 bit, that's another great car from the '90's that deserves a TLV Neo makeover. And still on the topic of Nissans from the 1990's:

I don't care, keep the factory "Livery", it would look even cooler. This is the Nissan Pulsar VZ-R N1, by the way.

Went back and they were not there.

Uh . . . about Richard . . and the Moko connection - Moko was the distributor. They knew toys. When the Lesney guys hooked up with them they were on a roll - both distributor and toy-maker. They knew what the market wanted and made it for them - much like if there was a TLV rep in here listening to these guys jabber about TLVs.
That was actually 'presuming' making for the customer what they pre-ordered through popularity and demanding for it.
Commonplace marketing today, but cutting edge for their time.
Eventually Lesney bought Moko.
And Matchbox took off - was the most successful miniature toy car maker in the sixties.
But then Hot Wheels entered the fray with the most stunning thing to hit these toys - playability. Cars that would run - to scale - at even 200mph.

Our favorite "M2 Machines" is good at making cars/trucks like that, but they haven't stocked anything new in my area.
