Cool NASCAR. 👍 I've seen them at Walmart, but I never really look at them. Maybe I'll check them out next time. Probably for a Camry. :D

Meh, don't really like those NASCAR die-casts. The make decals are irritably inaccurate.

Medigo - Are you talking about the cat-houses or cars? How much time are you going to spend in HK?

Actually there was a time "Made in 'Hong Kong' meant a fairly decent toy.

I'm lucky I'm over 3 - I get to play with this:

I do feel like biting it, though . . . such nice plastic . . .

oooo there's some awesome stuff in that series. First of all:

racing_line_71711.jpg

Freaking HW beat me to it, I'm doing a custom version of the Chaparral Trans Am Camaro, but it really strikes me as strange, odd, stupid even, that they used the previous casting they had for making this car, and not the most recent, road-racey casting, which is the one I used. Mine is already painted white and wheel-swapped, I only need to make the tampos for it.

Also, on the same line, OMFFFFFFFFFG:

=D i just got 300+ hotwheels
Not really a "score", it was a bit expensive if you ask me. The real hit is the silver Trans Am, that version is quite hard to find. The Monte Carlo redline is also difficult.

Photo dump.

I want dat Trans Am.

Seems like parents/kids/collectors like to go for the modern stuff and always leave behind the 30s hot rods.

Why do you complain, then? You should be thankful they take the lame cars and leave the cars with soul and flavour.

the stop will be at Hong Kong instead. Wonder if there are any goodies there? :odd: Will be leaving June 12th.

Hong Kong has some of the largest, best stocked hobby shops in the entire world. Send a PM to Rue (over at the "Did you see anything good thread"), explain your situation, then ask him for some of his pics. You'll pass out.

About the NASCAR : Quality depends on whether it's an original Chase Authentics - there are a huge amount of knock-offs. I once got a knock off so bad (will take pics+post soon) that when I placed it next to the original it was a hoot. This actually made me start looking at knock-offs with a collectors's eye (like peeps collect THs or errors.) Some knock-offs are so bad it can bring tears. But imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. So when you place a knock-off and an original side-by-side, in a collection display, it's quite the . . thing. ;)
The most recent models at Wal-Mart are very well made I must say. The originals, that is. Not the knock-offs.

Been catching up on all the posts, and wow, you guys have been emptying your wallets faster that eBay loads up a page! Great pics in here, too.

Cano - did you miss the huge Majorette Posts made from Nov '11 - January '12? Majorettes aplenty over here - ask and you shall receive; just PM when needed. EDIT: YES! I saw Rue's HK Toy Store pics. MG! One of the reasons why I told Medigo he could pick up something good there.

- I have a spare Maisto Diablo in red, and an MB '68 Toyota Landcruiser. Were you looking for them? I can mail them off to you - no strings (or you can send me anything) :)

Unfortunately, as I read from the ticket information, I'll be stopping at Hong Kong for only two and a half hours or so... :(

That is actually very true. Probably should have thought about that... :scared: There is that sense of soul and passion in older cars. Makes me feel guilty for being part of the "modern" generation. Of course, I'm not part of those who like the new stuff a lot. It's just that I prefer more curvaceous cars rather than the 30s American Hot Rod. :indiff:

Where would I find Rue's pictures of the toy stores?

Only thing I'd want in Hong Kong stopover would be the Chinese food. I'd just hope the plane has capable toilet. tmi.....

Land Cruiser sounds enticing, but I think I'm good. I do have one MB Land Cruiser, it's just that jungle themed or whatever, which isn't exactly the greatest. I do appreciate the generous offer though, Harry. Thanks bro! :)👍

IIRC, I saw them in his gallery. Not too sure - I travel around a bit.

Isn't two and half hours quite enough to blow your wad? Just get in and out fast. Know what your looking for - if you start browsing, you're a goner. Missed flight.

EDIT: Just keep away from 'child's toys' like this:

I don't watch them, so I personally wouldn't notice a single inaccuracy.

Well I do, Kinda of abit of a Detail nut when it comes to NASCAR Die-Casts as I've come across plenty for horribly made ones. Those die-cast I keep seeing at my local Wal-Mart are bad, The Spoiler sits way too high and the Tail light details either are too small or are too big and missproportioned. I know I seem just weird with that mindset since I collect Hot Wheels cars which aren't the standard of detail but considering NASCAR die-casts consist of cars from four makes and are aimed solely at collectors(Unlike Hot Wheels), they should be far better.

God, I seriously need to go to some toy shop  There's a big one next to my faculty, so...

I see a ton of magnificence on the last few pages, AMAZING finds everyone!

👍

Dude, you've just brought back memories with these cars bro. 👍

Time to check out the flea or swapmeets then. :D

As do I.

Just went for a drive south of where I live. Hit a couple grocery stores and came out with some old but still good stuff:

Error El Camino (reverse package)

Error Barbaric (wrong front wheels)

Found a couple of these. (one available for trade or purchase)

Another one of these. (available for trade or purchase)

...and a few of these. May be going on eBay.

And this is the package of Miata's I got early in the week.

Great finds R1600. I have been looking for those KITT cars since I seen the pictures, but no prevail :grumpy:. I'll keep my eyes out when I'm in the stores or if my family is going to Cali soon.

Wow, Frogman . . . you gotta be having loads of fun with all those recent cars in your collection. :)

Yep I have to agree here, you just freakin' scored some cars I'm jelly. I'm still having fun with my recent purschases right now. But I was busy with my new PS3 so I'll get back with them.

A bit of an update of my trip to Vietnam. Turns out I won't be stopping by Japan... :( My parents finally told me the tickets they bought and the stop will be at Hong Kong instead. Wonder if there are any goodies there? :odd: Will be leaving June 12th.

Been slightly curious about those Nascar diecasts, is there anything to note on those? (I.E. Rubber tires, metal base, etc.)

Sad to hear there's no Tokyo, Japan always has the coolest stuff out there. :( But HK got alot of sweet scales over there.

Who knows, my family is planning to go to San Diego again to the parks out there and maybe LA. I'm not sure when, but I seen some cool stuff inside the stores there. I gonna comb the cities if I have to find some cars. I WILL PREVAIL!!! Brace myself!

My aunt is also helping with my collection also. Though she's on the East Coast, she will keep a eye out for me there. Which is a good thing. :D

I know she's busy between her business and her job at a firm that she works at. But whenever she does get back at me, I can close this year and the previous year of HWs to a smaller fraction. :D:tup:

Any One want MR2 rally cars, I have like 8?

pics!!!!

D'you have a list of your collection? I'd buy some more off you.

Do you collect cars in blister or open them? Just wasn't sure how perfect you wanted the cards or if it doesn't matter.

For the sake of not having to donate more confetti (:P), what you can do is keep the blister on the card, but just cut off the top half of the card. This way, it's still sealed and packing them in a smaller parcel is easier possible.

Check grocery stores. The only problem with grocery stores is that the cars can literally be anywhere in the store. So you have to walk up and down almost every isle to find the cars.

So loose then.

57$ worth of vipers in that 300 car grab I did XD
TONS or UH wheels
And to ^^^^^^^^
Cuting, damaging or deforming the box will make a car "loose" so to speak
Especially cutting , Collectors *not me* are SUPER anal about the condition of the box and wont pay anywhere close top the true value of the car , I had an incident at target Were the cashier bent the boxes in half * like a taco!* , I got mad XD and returned the cars.
