2.02 Chase Camera Change - Now Dynamic

I've noticed this too. The car jumps slightly to the side.

The only way I can describe it is it's like opening one eye and closing the other.

Yea I have noticed it as well. C-ZETA was the original person to point this out to me. It seems to happen after prolonged racing as I don't notice it the first few laps of a race.

It really is kind of distracting and hopefully it gets tweaked.

I really hate this new chase-cam. Not only does it make me feel ill but I can't drive with it either. I can't judge the car's positioning and I'm unable to catch snap oversteer as well as I could with the old view. I keep trying to catch slides that aren't happening or missing ones that are. I'd try to 'get used to it' as some have said but it makes me dizzy if I play too long so I can't. I'd have to play using the other views but I don't enjoy them as much and I can't drive as fast or race as confidently with them so unfortunately, until PD give us the option to use the old one again I'm going to have to leave GT5 alone.

Did a comparison on practise mode using old times and the same car that set the times (Clio V6 premium model at Spa) and using this 'new' view i was 4 seconds a lap slower, i just couldn't get my cornering right and kept missing apex's and as some have pointed out, catching oversteer is far harder. Switched to the interior view which until now i had only used just for the sake of seeing what the inside looked like and i'm now within a second of my old times.
PD, you guys have given us some fantastic updates that let's not forget are free. But sometimes you make some very odd decisions, so called improvements that were never an issue, never a demanded subject! Thanks for all your hardwork and great updates but this 'Dynamic' view is awful. Can't help feel you have wasted god knows how many hours doing this when that time could have been used for far better things like chucking in a couple of the old tracks! Please give us the option to switch back? 👍

I think that dynamic camera should be implemented in all other views (especially in the "1st person view"), it reminds me of GT3´s cam. That camera gives us a better feeling close to real life. If you have driven a car in real life you should understand what I mean. Please PD, make this camera available to all views and make it optional that way everyone should be pleased.

Exactly my thoughts it would be better suited to bonnet cams etc and an option to turn it off will not doubt be available soon.

Cant believe PD actually introduced it and made no reference to it in the patch details ,its a huge difference and a game breaker to some.

I don't mind the new chase cam, however i only ever use it for drifting and its taking a long time to get used to. i think the option to turn it off or at least change the amount of roll in the camera would be a good idea. :)

I guess it's purely down to taste, I hated the stiff chase cam and couldn't use it. I ended up buying a DFGT and learning cockpit/roof/bumper in that order of preference.

The new chase cam feels more alive and I think I prefer it. To all the old chase cam users, PD should have provided the option for you to go on using what you had grown accustomed to.

They should have an option like cockpit view where player can adjust the distance from screen and the tilt angle, things like that. I think the new cam is better

I absolutely love the new chase cam. It makes it easier to tell if you're losing traction, it makes some of the cars look less "fat" in the rear, and it has a cool 3-D effect to it, even on a standard TV.

Just gave another try to the New Chase Camera... it was rather ok now :), no dizzy feeling this time:tup:, but I still prefer the old one... :guilty:

I love it, but it sometimes does that weird glitch where it seems the car jumps to side for a brief moment.

I'm sure that's getting looked at though.

Just wanted to make a thread especially for this. I know a lot of people like to tell anyone who talks about this to either get used to it or change cams. Well I have a few issues with that.

First of all is the fact that growing up...I played a lot of original GT on the PS1 as I'm sure many of you did. My main view was 3rd person. I've played that view ever since. That's how I like to play this game. I think a lot would agree.

Second note is the fact that unless you have a nice sized TV...the interior view is just too obstructing. I have a 46" TV and it's not enough for all that. Even being fully zoomed.

My point is Polyphony has always given the fans options. Fixed things that were broken. But to alter this view to being just as useless as the other views IMO...is just not fair. As I'm sure if they did something to upset the hardcore players who have wheel and seat setups and like to use their interior view would feel.

I just want that one bit of simplicity back. Or at least the option to change it. So if you agree please post here and lets get our view back.

And for the posts about people using the 3rd person cam because they like arcade racers or whatever that's bs. Not tooting my own horn but in the GT challenge to become a racecar driver I placed #418 in the USA and around #1700 in the world standings. With a regular remote and 3rd person view. Haters gonna hate.

I like the new chase cam, but PD could be smart and implement options on the dynamism of it.

The new dynamic cam makes the car feel faster and on the edge.

It is implemented on the other views!!

However it shouldn't be for the chase cam. Is the chase cam mounted on the car? NO So it shouldn't be bouncing and crap when you hit a bump.

Anybody who thinks its cool, fine and whatever else are clueless about physics.

I've always played the GT series (and any other car game, for that matter) on chase cam. I (used to - I'll come back to this) feel that using the bumper/cockpit cams was like making love to a beautiful woman with the lights off - why bother unless you can see all the action? Having recently done a couple of seasonal events with the roof cam I've changed my mind completely, once used to the extremities of the vehicle it's sooooo much more exciting and 'feels' a whole world faster than chase cam. For encouraging me to use the roof cam by way of making chase cam close to unusable, PD I salute you... Although I tried to drift with the roof + cockpit cams and it's close to impossible for someone of my ability. Bring back the old chase cam and I'll promise to only ever use it for drifting!!

Don't get me wrong guys...I really appreciate your input as I'm sure PD also does. But I made this thread for the effort to show the opinions of people that don't enjoy it. As I said before the, it is merely my desire to have the option. Not be forced into this new feel.

Imagine taking your main perspective that made this game feel right for you and taking a bobblehead with a camera strapped to it and said, "here isn't this better?". Just sayin.

Please put the chase cam back. I have anyways used it. I like to look at the car I'm driving. The new cam made me sick all night and some of the next day. It's not fair.

They should make it optional, that way everybody's happy. That's one thing I've noticed about PD, the lack of options they give you. It's always one way or the other. One thing I hope they learn, is that people like to have choices.

There needs to be an option to choose between the dynamic chase cam and the original one. The fact people are getting headaches or getting motion sickness from the new view should be enough reason to give us this option.

Guys, this is not a place for you to discuss if you like it or not. If you like it just move on for respect of the OP.
