This update has been a major pain in the ass! You can't race online because of people getting disconnected from the server. It has become so unstable that it's not worth the trouble anymore!

Thanks for the input.

I think there's a problem with pointing fingers. These bugs have affected the game in some way or another and has always seemingly been random. Pinpointing the issue or knowing that there is one might not be as easy as it would be to change a totally universal, game-breaking flaw. Any truth to this?

I sort of agree with you. I agree to the extent, that software can behave randomly, and undesired results may occur from adding additional features/components, what I'm mainly saying though, is despite this, rather, due to this, a QA team must take the responsibility to say 'no, it is not good enough for a worldwide release because we found this problem' not 'the new bits are working, who knows what the rest of it looks like now'.

I've worked in QA, and often, especially for larger patches, the bare minimum requirements would be for a system to be 'smoke tested' where a tester goes through all of the basic functions and confirms that the new change hasn't adversely effected any pre-existing features. This couldn't have been done (well) by PD, if so many of us are experiencing the issues we are, save for the online issue being a larger one caused by Sony and being out of PD's hands, other issues I think we should feel free to blame their QA department, point the finger at them, they might pay attention.

I agree with some of this not all. QA departments don't have any final say unless something is hazardous to the consumer. A few bugs aren't enough to push a patch, or final product, back.

QA departments are rarely part of corporate and are a ground level with production or "coders". QA gives the big guys a heads up and its up to them (corporate) to decide if it's in their best interest to get it out.

All in all, if someone is to blame, it's *their* boss!

I would strongly disagree with this, based on my own experience not only with the company I worked for, but the clients we had that also had QA departments. If we said that something wasn't good enough, the release was canceled, it must've been we had more power than in a larger organisation, but PD only employees, 110-120? that's about the same as the place I worked at, if no one listened to me, we'd lose our clients because I would effectively not be doing my job and crap software would be released, just like we seem to be experiencing with this latest release from PD.

Ultimately, each company operates differently, and I haven't worked at enough companies around the world to say that most were like mine, I reported directly to the project manager and the client, others may report to some sort of QA manager who'll report to sometime else, idk.

Everyone has to remember that Polyphony are in a highly priviliged position re feedback for their product.

I used to work for a Marketing Agency doing market research for big automotive companies / brands - Mazda, Range Rover, Fiat / Alfa Romeo, Mercedes etc etc which could cost anywhere between £5000 to £100,000. These companies would pay very large sums of money for research from just a few hundred people, plus they would often have to wait months for the research to be carried out, collated and presented to back to them.

Look at Polyphony - completely different situation. At their finger tips 24hrs a day (I imagine PD have employees with access to the internet - no brainer) they have access to "feedback" from thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of customers from all round the world on the hundreds of different GT5 websites. The feedback is better because there is no contamination from 3rd parties and the numbers involved are far greater.

Plus it's FREE and available IMMEDIATELY, 24hrs a day.

Problems with GT5 have been ongoing since release, nearly 2 years now, also the internet shows PD how much people value GT and the amount of work done in terms series / championship / organised racing. Likewise, the amount of damage being done to the brand because of issues and problems - such as the situation with GT5.

You really got to ask, why is it a company such as PD, with all this infomation readily available, better than what they could buy and completely FREE (saving them hundreds of thousands of ££ / $$) choose to ignore it.

Something is seriously amiss when a company as big as PD chooses to ignore a golden egg laid infront of them and carry on with a policy that systematically is hurting their product / brand name. In business, companies will often take advantage of whatever they can - but polyphony give the impression they turn their back and ignore it instead.

In terms of marketing and how thier brand is viewed PD is committing suicide with GT5 - anyone with half a braincell who knows anything about marketing and business would be scratching their heads wondering what the hell is going on - it just doesn't make sense.

PD either have the worst maketing and businness planners the world have ever seen, or their arrogance is such that they do not care because they feel their is no rival, or they've all made their money out of GT already, have lost interest and are just going through the motions until it's time for them to put their feet up and retire.

For such an important brand to be treated like this is so crazy there are few words that can put it into perspective.

Especially as within the video game market this has happened before - Sega, once one of the biggest names did the same and they don't even have console now, MW / CoD got their ass's kicked bigtime by Battlefield (who now have a large share of the market when previously it was dominated by MW & CoD). Fifa too - they dominated, became complacent and Pro Evo nearly kicked them into touch, Fifa recovered but now have to share a market rather than dominating it.

How on earth no-one a Polyphony can see, or PD choose to ignore it is so ridiculous it's unbelievable - and when something that ridiuclous is actually happening, you really have to question what bigger issues are going on behind the scenes.

Highlandor, I agree with a lot of what you said. This current state of PD or poly has made question my desire to buy anymore gt5 dlc or gt6 when ever thats released. I'm an avid gamer. If i feel like a franchise or company is really burning me i stop buying there products and software. As to whats going on behind the scenes i believe they are both wrapped up in ps4 console and software development, they are ony doing things like this to keep people still playing until there next system launch.

Oh yea, definitely. I'm only talking about the online-bugginess, unable to install, or loading problems. Those, I've never experienced. It seems as though those problems don't affect most people. Sure there's a lot of talk about it and more people than there ever has been before are saying they're having these problems from the last update. My main point was about how to fix, or find, something that hasn't happened yet? Because of the randomness, are there ways for them to find these problems other than smoke testing?

haha yeaaaa. It's not like they want there to be problems.

Servers going down lately sucks.

Havent been able to play online because it keeps lagging out.

Cant find rooms like i used to, hope it gets fixed ASAP.

Will it be another update or just a hardware issue on their side?

I'm not going to go in any order, I'm just going to say what I need to say.

First of all, I don't remember everything, but still going to point enough out. At the start we said that there weren't enough A-Spec events, so we got Seasonal Events (which might've/should've been planned in advance to the game's release.) Controller sensitivity - doesn't pertain to hardcore sim players - needed adjusting on some/most people's ends, so they added that rather soon when most of the feedback was being given due to it recently being released.

Early on and I suppose before GT5's release, Kaz recognized the lack of A-Spec events, acknowledged the excessive amount of duplicates FROM earlier games in GT5 (while definitely saying that the Premium Cars, which may suggest that even the "Premium" tracks, are fit for the next generation of consoles), he said he knew we wanted fast-forward/rewind for replays (I want to be able to add a description to them like the Course Maker tracks), and he said that leaderboards were in the works before GT5 Prologue's servers were Finally :) closed after there was a Delay :D in shutting them off. We get the FF/RW for replays closer to a year than a month due to the time it takes to get it done, plain and simple; FF/RW at every checkpoint on the track is one of the most efficient ways to implement it. Leaderboards STILL haven't been added for whatever reason. A-Spec events are clearly for GT6; my reason for thinking that is Seasonal Events and nothing has been done about A-Spec, which can technically be done if not for the part about running a business.

They keep Selling (and giving away) free GT-R's and Red Bulls. When people complain about that, they're saying: Why do we need a race car version of this? Can't we just use the old ones? Progress is overrated... It's a bit like thinking someone other than Kaz could direct GT6's development based on ONE GAME "he screwed the last game up for me, he shouldn't make the next one!"; it could come from working two decades (I can safely say that now that GT1 started development in the latter half of '92) and on seven versions of the same game, including Prologue because it's different enough from the final version and required enough work to instead spend that "wasted" time on the final version; it might come from the first game being mainly Japanese; or, it could be that it's a non-issue (it is to me) since the Standard Cars aren't the standard quality that they're reaching for.

800ish Standard Cars given interior views that are unsatisfactory to most (me too) but good enough for some. 800ish Standard Cars given the wheel option. 800ish standard cars have improved in visual quality overall in the last year and a half. I used to have to tolerate taking Standard Cars into Photo Mode at first, not anymore. Some cars (not sure about the Standards) have been fixed to be more like how they should have and I don't know what specifically, only that it's been happening all this time. An "AI aggressiveness" setting was added while improving how the AI performs in the update/s - "the ai still isn't how it 'should' be like" Yea well, at least PD tried.

GT5 supports more wheels now, taking a year to "get it done", and the way they perform has been improved through a couple/few updates.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=202907
"When we tested the G27, it had some functionality in the shifting process that gave it an unfair advantage over other peripherals. You were able to shift the G27 without losing any speed/ power. We repeated worked with Logitech to remedy this, but Logitech refused to alter their Firmware to our standards. Therefore the G27 will not be fully supported in G27"

PD needed to have GT5 support those wheels, but they didn't need to improve the force feedback of most/a lot of them. Nor did they have to improve the driving physics/tire physics at all. That greedy bastard Kaz didn't want or need to release DLC for GT5; he's so greedy that he makes us pay a cheeseburger and small fries worth for Paint Chips. I mean, who has the money and desire to pay for something I would want, but won't pay for? DLC was only usable on the PSN account that paid for it (which isn't unheard of), then by the 2nd/3rd day after that DLC released, Kaz said we'd have to wait over two months to use them on multiple accounts.

Oh, you mean when people have problems with physically playing GT5? Maybe read what Conza has to say and realize that the other option they have/had is to not release any updates. "maybe they should be better at their jobs" NOOO! :)

Just want to add to this small block of text, my mention, I only wish they released more updates at higher quality, not less at less, I do sort of agree with the notion of 'hey, it could be worse', but it could still be better too, so I'm glad people complain.

They do it, so I don't have to.

I get what you mean about higher quality, but I'm not sure of any examples. Might as well name some things for chance of people spreading ideas and such.

I think enable "collision avoid" in online race does not make sense. After enabled, the online player seems participate in TIME TRAIL with ghost image complete with each other.

Blah blah blah.....

So what....???

The game upon release was so bad it was virtually unplayable - they HAD to change things, otherwise there would be no-one playing their game.

Even with all these updates, a large proportion of die hard GT fanboys (who I played Prologue with on a daily basis) still walked away from GT5.

Did we ask for race suits, helmets or the 1m trading lmit / 1 car per console per day (which forced users to play GT5 the way PD wanted) - er, NO...

What was the most wanted car in the official GTPlanet feedback section - E30 M3 bmw - where is that??????????????????????????????? The E30 M3 was massively more requested than all the other cars on the list, it was way out on front.

How difficult for Polypohy to find one of them and model it... Instead we get drowned in R35gtrs and FT86 copies..???

How much has all the DLC cost, and ow many of those cars are really beneficial to the game, easily less than 50% of them and we race more variety of cars than most people would ever do - from classics to LMPs.

Ok - we got Spa and Motegi, but Motegi was in previous GT release and how do we know Spa wasn't already in the pipeline somewhere??

I'm so sick and tired of people like you saying we should be grateful for what PD has done since release - it's the other way round.

PD should be grateful for all those people who organise events, series and lobbys, or help explain things like setups online etc etc that helped keep people playing GT5 instead of walking away.

Alot of people I play with say they were on the verge of giving up on GT5 until they found either:

Decent organised online racing
How to understand online setups

Neither of these were down to PD, it was down to guys like me and all the other organisors / tuners and people who help others come to terms with this bug ridden, unreliable, over priced piece of crap PD call a 'game'.

Alot of people I know rarely bother with seasonal events, most had completed the game and their car collections before PD started to bring out these seasonal events, OCD and all the new tickets etc etc.

It's like this:

Your son / daughter is getting married, you phone the bakers and say "we need a cake for the wedding".

On the wedding day, baker turns up with a chocolate gateau and says "here's your cake".

Yes, technically it is a "cake" and the baker did their job, but that's a fat lot of good to you or the bride and groom, because it's totally the wrong type of cake.

Just the same with GT5.... We got improvements and dlc from PD, but at least 50% of them are a fat lot of good, with some - like trading limit and cars we'll never use etc actually being totally useless and not at all what we wanted or needed.

Boom! This is the truth folks 👍.

Well I`m guessing that everyone who`s read the latest news... On-Line Problems Solved.... would like to change their vote to either, (A) Happy Now, or (D), when does it happen?

Nope - took 45 minutes and 2 rooms to get our championship race started last night.

At least 5 members had frozen screens / black screens...

Polyphony ain't fixed nowt....

Hello, today I discovered that my engine sounds had returned to pre-2.06 status, maybe this was done un-announced in the last update, almost makes me want to change my vote.
But got disconnected twice today from on-line room, so forget my vote change...

very bad up date

I dont have rims when I play online
2.08 ••••• •••••••••••• ••••••••
sucks

I've only once been disconnected from a room since i bought the game.

My main problem is the fact they put limits on trading etc, I need a car for a series and have to wait ove 200 game days for it to become available, why is it so wrong for a fellow racer to send me the car so i can enjoy the game more?

Also why did they change me being allowed to just sell my cars? I have a 4 million car and can't sell it, why is this? If i spent my time earning the credits to buy it then surely if i want to sell it i should be able to for about 50% of it's worth at a minimum. All the changes are doing is making me annoyed with the game, which in turn makes it less enjoyable, making the games lifespan for me a lot less.

I dont know if anyone noticed but go buy s2000 in premium dealership, it sounds ''whistle'' when you go over 6000 or 7000 rpm, its not vtec, it sounds little like a turbo, or supercharge.

I've been having awful connection issues since pre-2.08. It probably started with 2.06, but it's been getting way too frequent now. What's up, PD?

Other games work just fine.

wut?
you don't have rims?
you mean you're driving without rims?

I think its funny that the gtone is as fast as the redbull x2011 on route x after the update.
GT-One is 30+ mph faster on route x with this update compared to the previous update.
