Yea, what you've said about "fully depress the clutch, full off gas, shift, etc" is correct. It's what we've learned to do to make the game work (and not miss gears). I've had no issues shifting up. I always take my time and shift naturally. Obviously, if you shift like a maniac - it won't work.

I think the issue with the update is the "sweet spot" zone on the clutch. I have been heel / toe shifting for 2 years, but now that the "sweet spot" has changed, when I blip the throttle and pop the clutch on a downshift, it just stays "N". I missed the gear b/c you CAN'T have any discrepancy with the clutch / throttle timing. At this point, my breaking zone has passed, I get distracted doing the "clutch in / slam gear, clutch in / slam gear" routine that can be all too familiar with G wheels and this all ends with my car in a retaining wall. That's why I just stopped - I assume the only fix is to relearn how to play the game. B/c that's what it is, a game. Something that you learn to understand and get good at. And that's why I am so frustrated. Why change a mechanic 2 years into the mix. It's a joke.

I see. Well in fairness, it wasn't perfect to begin with, and they've given it attention, so yes, this is a bad outcome, but it's only the 2nd worst outcome, the worst being that they never ever look at it (which we might end up at if they never change it from here on in), but hopefully they read our discussions on this stuff and go 'oh no, we've taken it the wrong way, let's go back and try again'.

For me, I think my real issue is the 'no gas' policy if has, if there's any clutch at all, there can't be any gas at all, but in that last moment as the clutch is meant to be 'biting' you should be able to be on the gas. Besides, you should be able to have full clutch and full gas AND be able to select a gear (full clutch, so neutral, not suggesting entering a gear in full throttle) how else could you double declutch? Not that you'd need "full" gas to do that, but the clutch pedal is really the only thing that should be influencing the engaging of a gear, this seems like their way of 'simulating' missing a gear, or crunching a gear.

I'm using the view from behind the car.
When I've been to the pit teh engine sound changes and get more silent until I go down to second gear again and run on second ger low rev.

After the update I'm starting to get disconnected from the server.
Same setup on PS3 and the router as before the 2.08 update.

I like the changes they made to the physics; very glad the cars actually respond a little more natural with aero, and getting the ride height fixed is always a bonus.

The tyre fix seems lazy and changed a bit too far, but I suppose it's welcomed.

However, the networking since the patch is appalling. I've never had problems with GT5, but now it appears I can't connect to anyone due to incompatability, or I get kicked within a minute or I get a black screen of death.
It's a damn shame, but it does spike my curiousity at how this game can be this unstable over the internet.

The connection quality has no connection with The black screen of death I hosted a room the other night on a 20meg cable connection and the first time I went to change the track I got locked out with the black screen of death.
polly phony sucks, do they ever test! every update comes with more bugs,
Bring on project cars!!

PD release updates without checking them , online sucks , same problems , DLC never had any problems , money, money, money PD keep up the good work :scared:

Since the newest update, has your gameplay enjoyment improved, deteriorated, or you don`t see a difference?

I keep getting black screens when going online. It never used to happen before the update. I've heard other people talking about it too. Once it goes black you're screwed. Have to turn off and start over.

All those hours into drag tuning....I mean hundreds of thousands...even millions...for everyone who drag tuned were all for nothing.

I run a free roam room and wasn't impressed with the anti colllision option, as it turns all of our cars see through.

Would be nice if it were based on actual contact rather GT's penalty system, which I'm assuming it is since even when we're racing backwards we're not actually colliding with anything...

And also I sympathize with all of you drag tuners. Un/fortunately I didn't know the tuning was all mucked up in GT5 for the longest time so most of my cars are properly tuned. Glad PD fixed it beause that was a issue that NEEDED to be fixed.

Since when - it's exactly the same as before??

Max front min rear and vica versa still produce same results as before....

That's NOT fixed, especially hen the GT5 tuning guide says the opposite of what actually happens!!

PD & Kaz = :dunce:

EPIC FAIL

the black screen before racing happens all the time now and it didn't before the update.

Getting disconnected from the lobby server is happening all the time too since the update, and it's never happened before.

I love this game but i'll probably never buy anything else with Polyphony's name on it again. They keep pissing me off.

Update sucked in my opinion , slowed down my tunes I have worked so hard to get the times they had gotten , an now I get black screen almost every time I go into a room, I have cleard my cache an reset modem an all that fun junk , never had an issue untill 2.08 ... I know it slowed every ones cars but thats noit the point .,,, I am a drag racer so that .10 or more makes a big difference ,,, if its not broke then dont fix it ,.,, the DF was just fine with no reason to mess with it .. infact if I hadnt spent so much money on the DLC & made the friends that "Witch new DLC was lame" I would have prob quit playing , I do not like having to re tune my cars I spent so much time on because of there 2.08 but thats just me .....👎👎👎👎👎👎

So yea, it's not the same for everybody.

It's not a matter of if it's not broken, don't fix it. One change they make in an update can cause problems in other areas and that's a problem with creating video games.

Totally agree, hence why patches suck! Only way to patch cleanly is to do a clean install, not overwrite!

For me though, it hasn't been much of a change.

It's not just video games, its software in general, changing parameters in one place often alters others unintentionally, I'd rather they have done the update including these mistakes, then to decide to not try and fix issues with it at all. However, they really need to correct their QA team, assuming they have one, probably starting with replacing the leader/s final sign off person would be my uninformed speculation, not that any QA team is perfect, but these bugs are just horrible, and extremely unprofessional.

Upon further experience with the post 2.08 Gran Turismo 5, I stand by my previous opinion.

This update is crap.

The servers in this game were awful for the first few months of its release, but eventually, they became stable. I'd like to know what the hell happened that caused the servers to be awful again. I hosted a lounge tonight with about 6-7 friends in it. I hosted it for about 2.5 hours. During that time, the entire room got disconnected five times. Five. That's one disconnection every thirty minutes. That is unacceptable. There is no excuse for the servers suddenly becoming pure crap again. My connection has not changed since the game came out. What the hell happened?

In the news section of the game there is a notice that the GT5 servers are having problems, and they are working on it.
I got disconnected from my room three times tonight. :(

I heard it's not only GT5 but Sony's in general. A bunch of people have reported other games not working well online either. BF3 for one!

I broke my DS3 Controller from black screening FIVE DAMN TIMES coming out of the pits while I was at Indy drag dragging.

It's deteriorated greatly. The transmission whine has gone up, the servers have gone to hell, and if I get black screened one more time I'm gonna go ape.

In other words, it's very bad. :yuck:

Yes I agree! Black screen is making me bonkers!!

The worst update to date. The black screen issues and the server problems. I vote 👎! Just to clarify 👎!

Thanks for the input.

I think there's a problem with pointing fingers. These bugs have affected the game in some way or another and has always seemingly been random. Pinpointing the issue or knowing that there is one might not be as easy as it would be to change a totally universal, game-breaking flaw. Any truth to this?
