Who said 2 player battle with memory card was included before the release..?

You had in some way, false hopes.

No one said anything because you would expect it since its been in all the other GT series.

in all honesty, when playing 2 player battle, who actually used the stock cars when you had your own cars to dish out with your friends???

i for one never even touched those stock cars they offered. well only for rally, but thats because i rarely play rally.

bad move by PY and/or sony

Obviously different people play the game in different ways and thats why the apparent ommission is only worrying to some.

Me myself have only ever played the single player mode for this one reason: So I can aquire desirable cars to tune, prepare and then use as weapons against my freinds own tuned weapons in races.

Some people may not be to bothered by the ommission but it has to be understood that "racing" a mind is infinately more exciting and fulfilling than going through the motions against a machine. If you play GT for the battles it becomes a game of limitless possibilities that will always have something new to offer. I was hoping the possibilities would have been expanded not reduced. Stock cars are not acceptable and I cant believe I am thinking about not purchasing! :indiff:

my bro and i used to have battles where we just set a horsepower limit, and power to weight limit and excluded a few cars. Very similar to the battles in Best motoring. But... looks like those days are over. :( 🤬

wow... I really hope it's not just stock cars and that for some stupid reason they made it an unlockable option. Talk about a kick in the nuts... They better be making some upscale, feature-loaded 2 Player Battle for "GT Online" cuz GT4 is looking more and more like a dedicated one player game.

All I can say is that if the UK version does not have tuned car multiplayer battle I am not buying it, period.

Maybe it is an unlockable feature, maybe KY and his team made a huge mistake and they'll rectify it but, BUT if not I'd rather play GT3 because at least I have the multiplayer option there for tuned cars...

Word of the day is *********************K!

I've been waiting so long for this.

People must remember that this is the japanese version of the game and that in japan multiplayer gaming hasn't caught on as much as it has in the rest of the world, so no multiplayer for them isnt a big deal. Also you never know the delays might bring us multiplayer :). Also if you refuse to get the game because a few things are missing you deffinatly havn't played the game yet cus its amazing and you'll be missing out.

MAYBE they are trying to pull off one of those dirty tricks many others have done. Maybe they are releasing a multiplayer version later for the same price as gt4. :indiff:

in gt3 i always played 2 player battles with stockcars. Why?? We always took the same car so no one has an advantage over the other. This way the race is purely decided by your driving skill rahter than having a extra turbo in your car. This way you get really intense races. Isn't this way more fun. With two different cars one has already an advantage, tuned the difference is even bigger. This way you know at the start of the race what car will win: the car with the best handling, HP and weight.

it all boils down to honesty. And my brother/friends and i have that :P. So we used to just set tuning limits like i mentioned above and see who would win the battle sticking to their choice of car. Like in Best motoring. We'd race stock cars with sim tires once in a while. We always used sim tires. Will they at least give us a choice to use sim tires, or whatever tires have the hardest difficulty?

in a way yes you are right. and if we are talking 2 jgtc cars then i would agree, neither car needs to be tuned any further and a fair race could be had.

but what if you want to race 2 usually lesser powered cars that arent really all that exciting in stock form, look at the GT3 B and C class arcade cars for an example - dead dull. tuned cars dont mean unfair or unbalanced cars. it just gives you a wider scope of playability. perhaps 2 players take the same car and one installs a turbo while the other mechanically tunes the engine and race the results. or someone in a usually high powered car takes on an underdog with a few mods. the possibilties are endless. finding arcade cars that are equal in speed is quite a hard task when you dont have any ability to manually match like for like with tuning.

one of my favorites was racing a lightly tuned elise against a lightly tuned FD... looks like those days are gone.
Are there any courses (besides AUtoX) where the latest Elise can beat the Escudo Pikes Peak car?

I see your point, but some of us consider tuning as part of the competition.

It's more fun to compete with personally tuned car of your choice. Personally, I enjoy spending extra time on the suspension and handling of the car, killing my buddies on cornering.

This should all stop now.

My theory is that GT4 Online will not have the Simulation mode. It will be only multiplayer. With the extra space they free up, they might be able to add a few tracks and some cars. This is just speculation on my part. I just hope it won't be $50.

I will buy both no matter what, though.

What makes you think that space is an issue at all? it's very naive to think that adding more cars an tracks takes huges amount of space, the fact is that most of the space in GT4 is used by FMV, not the tracks or cars, and even then, they don't get near the dual layer limit.

Out of curiousity, what is FMV? The graphics engine? The physics engine? And it's unlikely any cars would be included in a GT4 Online disk. Not so sure about online-exclusive tracks.... In any case this is speculation and I don't know what I'm talking about. ;)

Wow, no garages in 2-player? WTF!?!?1? Well, that cuts down the replay value hugely! Sure, I'll get 100% in sim mode as in GT3, but what kept me coming back was spending hours tuning my ~500hp car to race against my friends ~500hp car (which he also spent hours tuning).

I'm finding myself in a love/hate relationship with GT4... and I havn't even played it yet. :guilty:

FMV = full motion video..??

thats not really correct at all, japan has had online console gaming since the sega saturn and id possibly go so far as to say they pretty much invented the concept. the rest of the world had to wait until the dreamcast and it didnt even really catch on then. not until the Xbox came out did it really get taken up

So cobrauk, you won't buy the game just because of two praticaly useless features?

I get your point, but man! You won't be Ze game just because of those 2 features?

You must be a pessimist just seeing the weaknesses of GT4, it ain't even a weakness, would you rather have your two useless feature rather than the Nurb?

Be rational.

Someone obviously has never played two player battle with friends using tuned cars as compared to the unchangable arcade cars...

I'm sorry but the exclusion of garage cars in every version of Multiplayer GT4 really seems like a ploy to get more GT4 buyers to bite at GT4 online when it's released. Just the ability alone to use garage car vs. garage car with my friends is like 20% of entire game for me. So much of what I do while in Sim mode, (if not all of what I do), is geared toward competing against my friends this way - it's just really sad.

I completely agree, much of the racing I did in GT3 was to afford a car or a group of cars of choice between our friends that we'd tune and use in the next tournament or just 2 player battles. I must also say that in the first 2 months the 2 player features will be about 20% overall playability but after that more like 100%. If it really will be left out of the UK release of GT4 and it was an intentionate ploy buy by KY and co. to get us to pay another $50 on the GT4 Online it's a dirty trick, nasty trick.

I told my mate about the likelyhood of this ommission today and he wept...when he recovered we laughed and lamented over the great multiplayer sessions we used to have battling our 500bhp limit cars amoungst other freinds and tuning them to perfection.

I think I will have to buy NFSU2... :(

I can believe this is true, not until i see some kind of official confirmation from a review site. Jeez i bet the japanese forum servers are smouldering chunks of plastic from all the hate posts right now. Theres got to be an explaination...

Well, can we not get a GTPlanet staff to ask this question officially and get us a concrete answer. Maybe we can make a petition.

Can someone sticky this please? 👍
