NEVER say Hyundai and fun in the same sentence without a not between the two.

They are crappy FWD disposable transport for the most part, Genesis being the exception, and that has ZERO sporting intentions.

An Elantra? Seriously? >_>

As for Hyundai and quality, it's hit and miss, with the newer products being more hit than the older model misses.

The Getz defiinitely felt worth the money... cheap, yes, but not exactly as "disposable" as, say, an Excel. The i10 feels like crap compared to it.

The Accent didn't seem all that great.

The Elantra was so-so... but the new i30 looks good.

The Coupe isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but it drives relatively well. The older, lighter ones were downright fun.

The Tucson felt uncompetitive in terms of refinement, but it was actually quite fun to drive... nice, neutral balance within the grip limits of the tires.

The Santa Fe has some tacky interior bits, but feels a good match for the CR-V and the RAV4 in terms of driving, with a good diesel, to boot.

The Veracruz doesn't drive particularly well, but it's got a great motor, a great transmission and leather that could have come off of an Audi.

The Genesis feels like sex on wheels. The minor fact that it doesn't drive quite as well as a 5-series isn't that big a deal, considering what you get for your money. I'll agree it's not sporty, per se, but it's not bad for a big car, especially if you put it up against anything short of a BMW (and that includes supposedly "sporty" Lexii, Acuras, etcetera).

You owned one in the last 2 years, cause you certainly sound like you really know what your talking about
?
I have.

I have owned a range of cars from Aussie Toranas, Commodores, Nissan Navara ST-R Turbo Diesel, Suzuki Swift GTI, 13b J-Ported Rx3, V8 Landrover Discovery, VW Polo GTI (hot car this one!) ...and a 2005 Hyundai Tucson.
The latter being one of the most reliable and $ for $ comfy vehicles to drive.

I do tend to drive a bit from track days, to epic 4wd adventures through the centre of Australia .. infact all over the east coast of Australia... I think that gives a fair amount of qualification as to my opinion on whether a car meets its design criteria, and the Hyundai Tucson does exactly this and then some.

So rather than opening your head-hole and letting the **** fall out, why dont you try and present an argument?

As for Rotaries, could you pick a more unreliable and prone-to-damage engine ? Dont get me wrong I have a love affair with them that goes back 20 years but its only in the last few years that they have built something that is worthy... hey isnt that the same as what Hyundai has achieved ??!!

It looks like you've been having a Hyundai experience. 👍

You ever go to QLD Raceway? We should totally meet there if you do.:dopey:

Not to mention, I bet that V8 would be really happy with some mods, it would make a great cruiser for straight line pedal to the medal stuff with some mods on that car.:)
You're all still forgetting the Genesis Coupé, I'd say Hyundai is doing "sporty" pretty well now.
May I also mention the Hyundai Excel?

This later model, which is quite old now, was fairly reliable and sold really well. Heaps of kids down here have one as their first cars for those reasons (cheap and easy to find).

I appreciate I've been away for a couple of days, but, even so, if someone could tell me exactly what part of Holden Commodore vs. Renault Megane R26 requires an in-depth discussion of the Hyundai model range, I'll give you 3 ePoints.

If you look carefully there aren't any Commodore badges on the Calais either.

Not wanting to start this up again, but obviously my original point wasn't clear enough. (And if you look carefully I didn't say there wasn't any Commodore badges on the Calais).

Go to the Holden Site. Click on Commodore. Now click on the W427.

Oh look, it's not there.

Yes you do, otherwise you wouldnt have posted.

but obviously my original point wasn't clear enough. (And if you look carefully I didn't say there wasn't any Commodore badges on the Calais).

The Fiat 500 Abarth doesnt have a 500 badge on it either... yet it still is a 500 .. Whats your point ?

Do you mean the HSV site.. cause I dont see the 427 listed under the Commodore range on the Holden site.
Maybe you are referring to the HSV site ? Do you know who and what HSV are ?
I think not otherwise you wouldnt make yourself look so silly.

The same goes for CSV who made a 7 litre, 427 holden Monaro before HSV. It was 2002 my friend has just sold his... interestingly there are no Holden Monaro badges on it.. doesnt mean it isnt a Monaro.

Did the Walkinshaw have Commodore badges on it ? Nope... so I suppose that means it isnt a Commodore either ?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holden_Special_Vehicles

CSV and HSV do for Holdens what Ruf does for porsche. If you cant see that the car is still a Porsche/Commodore then read some more.

Now go to Holden Special Vehicles site, click on model range, now click on W427, hey, there it is. What do you know, it looks like a Commodore, it sounds like a Commodore, it has a V8 like a Commodore, it has the same interior layout as a Commodore, you know what, I think it's a Commodore. The point of pointing out the Calais was to show it doesn't need a badge reading Commodore to be one.

Errh... contention that FWD not fun, thus Megane = Lose... defended by rating the Elantra as fun (a defense which I don't entirely agree with)... replied to by saying all Hyundais are FWD disposable pieces of crap... and etcetera... etcetera... etcetera... the usual...

Well, that must make a Monaro a Commodore, cause it's got the same interior layout and a V8 and looked much more like the Commodore then the W427. I'd like to see you tell a Monaro owner that they actually own a Commodore.

Cause if a car, has a completely different Engine than any other Commodore (W427), a transmission different to any other Commodore (W427), 90% different body panels to any other Commodore (W427) an almost completely different interior than any other Commodore (W427), made by a different company than the Commodore (W427), and isn't listed anywhere on the Holden website (W427), then hell, I guess it must be a Commodore.

I'm not going to complain, cause that means my SEAT isn't actually a SEAT, it's actually a VW, they obviously are wrong, boo-ya, that just increased it's value by about 200%.

I didn't know fun was subjective. You can have fun in any car as long as you enjoy driving it and it's what you want.

And we have a winnar! Ladies and gentlemen this is the correct attitude. And to link that with this thread I bet the Megane can be just as much fun as the Commodore.

Let's look at other cars using your logic:
250px-Dodge_SRT-4.jpg

Not a Neon.
shelbycsxmb3.jpg

Not a Shadow.
fordmustangshelbygt500kqj0.jpg

Not a Mustang.
saleenfordmustangs281sctv0.jpg

Not a Mustang.
brabusbullitblackarrow2tk9.jpg

Not a C-Class.

And so on and so forth.

The Brabus Bullit isn't a Mercedes C-Class. It's a Brabus Bullit. It's made by Brabus.

Though I'm not sure why this is relevant to the Commodore-Megane debate any more than the Hyundai Elantra is.

@Toronado

I think the SRT-4 is still a Neon because it's still built by Dodge and badged as a Dodge (As far as I know). I'm not sure about the Shadow cause I have no idea what it is. And are those Saleen Mustangs? Because those I guess are more akin to my point about the W427, if the question was asked "What's the fastest stock Ford Mustang" I wouldn't count Saleen cars. Nor would I count RUF if the question is "What's the Fastest Porsche 911".

Re-read it... Hes obviously being sarcastic...

Agreed, all because of one person saying the Megane is wrong wheel drive.... Anyhow, the Commodore did win outright and we all know how nd 4 holden spd is gonna brag about it in the next round. Just lets make sure there is no bias towards the next round of votes as this one..... so if that means little to no fanboyism posts in the thread, so be it! 👍

I was actually considering voting the GT-R, but I know it will win anyway so I may as well vote for the Holden. Reason being the GT-R is a revolutionary vehicle beating so many cars with more power and triple the cost, and it's at the fore-front of technology. I like the Commodore, and it's a great sedan, but it's not really as revolutionary as that.
