I loaded up Google Earth and did a search to locate the Shanghai International Circuit. The track is about 16 miles northwest of central Shanghai. Unfortunately, the Google Earth view of this track makes it look like Shanghai International Circuit was never built. The first race here was in 2004. Can't they update their stuff? Then again, I have heard of how the Hubble Space Telescope hasn't been operating well lately. Still, this track's been around for about five years. Get with the program and update.

I'll still try and find as many tracks as possible with Google Earth so I can look back to them for reference. Knockout Qualifying is coming up. No Bob Varsha for Speed, so you'll get to hear from Two Australians- Peter Windsor and Leigh Diffey. After this race, Brazil. Anyone trying to make a move will need to make one as soon as possible in China.

And Q2 starts!

EDIT:

Q2 is done. And the last 5 are:

Piquet
Kubica
Glock
Barrichelo
Rosberg

Both STR on Q3! Webber will go 10 places down by an engine change.

Wasn't able to watch (damn university cable) but it seems that Ferrari are in a good position strategy-wise, despite the pole from Hamilton. Can anyone confirm or deny my read here?

Dammit, why Kubica why!!!!! :banghead:

Anyways, I think Hamilton was running really light in Q3, as he was really quite fast compared to both the Ferrari, its a shame that Heikki didn't qualify well as his teammate. All in all, should be an interesting race tomorrow, with Massa being directly behind Hamilton........ :D

Hamilton's got pole! but the 3 drivers behind him want his head

I wish Kovalainen was in between those guys on the grid

well i would say that even though hamilton got pole he isnt in a comfy position. hes got raikkonen on his flank, massa behind, and alonso in the 4th place spot and as we all know alonso will do what ever he can to help massa. mclaren needed kovalinen to ahead of alonso but thankfully for me he couldnt. should make turn 1 interesting for hamilton to say the least.

His pole won't mean S*** if he screws up in this race again so he'd better watch out. And yeah, not a good positon to be in when the three guys behind you are all out to hunt you down.

Why have McLaren kept Kovalainen for 2009? He's not good enough! Constantly fails when needed to perform.

I'm surprised that Vettel made it to Q3, he was terrible in the practices. Sorry Alex.!

The field's set. Care to change any picks for the win (if you made any picks to win, that is)? I'm still going with either Hamilton or Alonso. I'm not counting on a Scuderia Ferrari to crash Hamilton's party.

my guess with how the top 4 look that hamilton wont be winning this race if the 2nd 3rd or 4th guy has anything to say about it. my guess is that massa will win this. and im hopping kubica will pull off a miracle 3rd. hamilton i think is going to get pushed around ALOT that first lap and will fall back to a no point finish.

Big call.

I think he’ll probably win or get on the podium if Kimi makes a good start.

Any first corner contact amongst the leading pack will be very suspect

I'd love to get up early to watch this, but I don't have a TV licenese :irked:

All depends on the start... actually... that's the issue... Hamilton messed up the last few starts from pole last season... that problem in Japan was serious deja vu... and I hope it doesn't point to the boy's wilting under pressure.

I wouldn't be surprised if Alonso wins this one... it's anyone's call, really... Hamilton will give himself a good boost if he can hold the Ferarris at bay. The question is whether Alonso will have the pace to worry the Ferarris and if he actually meant what he said about "helping Massa".

I pick Vettel for a podium. :D

The start is everything. If Hamilton can get away well and keep the Ferrari's behind him, he should walk away from them to an easy victory. The simply dont have the pace to beat him. If Raikkonen can get ahead though, then anything can happen, the window is thrown wide open.

This is precisely what will happen. Hamilton has shown that he is unbeatable if he's in the lead but becomes a bit uncomfortable (and slower) if he's behind someone, in particular if he is in pole and loses his P1.

I have all hopes for Massa, though, one of the most passionate about winning in F1 today.
