Yes, first it was the FIA helping Lewis Hamilton to try and win the 2007WDC by fining his team $120 million and humiliating them on the world stage.

Now it's a conspiracy to have a German driver set the fastest time in the Japanese Grand Prix while driving a Japanese car when there's a Japanese driver at the same Grand Prix who drives for a Japanese-backed team.

What next? Elvis didn't die, he really re-invented himself as Bernie Eccelstone?

Lol wut??

Is that some sort of joke no one has got yet?

Or are you acctually being serious?

Why do you think Vettel won at Monza and we had to hear again the german-italian hymns combo?

If you want to find the "Capo" of F1, you'll have to look elsewhere, not to Elvis/Bernie.

;)

I think he's being purely sarcastic.

Also, I'm having very, very good vibrations... :D

If Toyota ends up winning this race (not saying it's likely), is this going to completely turn around the Toyota F1 team? What about if Honda wins?

I'm still sticking to the picks I made earlier. If ever there is a time to make progress towards a championship, it's here and now. Aqui y ahora. Qualifying should set the tone later tonight (in American time zones).

None of both will win.

Well, certainly not this year. We've seen Toyota snatching 1st in practise more than once this season, and Glock has had his engine changed. (Doesn't this give him a grid penalty?)

I think the earliest time we'll be seeing a Japanese team winning again, will be next year, if either have made their homework properly, which they haven't in a long time now...

They are allowed 1 engine change this year without penalty.

Ross Brawn means Honda will very likely be up there next season. Toyota are looking good for next season too, this season has been very nice and consistent.

Yes, I heard that Honda might be back next year where they left in 2004. Good for them, although I won't deny I hope Toyota to continue beating them :p

Well, Toyota are going to have to do a lot of work if some of the reports we're hearing are true. Of all the teams to test it so far, Honda apparently have the most advanced KERS system yet, and are reportedly near a final product. Of the other teams to seriously test the device so far, BMW and Williams have only really just begun, whilst McLaren's unit is twenty kilograms heavier than they want it to be. Even if they still have the idiotic Shuei Nakamoto on-board, Honda may well be he dark horse of 2009.

Things look pretty foggy and misty around Fuji for knockout qualifying. Perhaps proving true the chance of rain for qualifying. Only time I can really recall racing at Fuji under foggy or misty conditions, I remembered watching highlights of the (then) JGTC racing one round of the race at Fuji. There was an exciting finish for what I could remember.

If you don't win this race and are in a crucial championship fight, then you'd BETTER perform in China and Brazil. I'm sure the Brazilians know who THEY would love to see win the World Championship. Unlike last year, we're probably not going to see that misty mess in the Japanese Grand Prix race for Sunday in Japan. For all the F1 racers in this race and in this championship, I just say... ganbare (do your best)!

:censored:DAMN IT
Someone get james allen a tissue

Crap result

Meh, it didn't rain. 👎
As for qualifying, the track is pretty much even for everybody. Almost the gap of the entire field is less than 2 seconds (and 1st to 10th is less than 1 second) Only good thing to say is, Massa really needs to work hard if he want to have a shot of the title. Starting from the 3rd row of the grid, and having Alonso, Heikki, Kimi and Hamilton to contend with is gonna be a handful...... 👍

Also, I'm having very, very good vibrations... :D

Keep 'em going, fellow fan. I haven't been able to catch qualifying - time-zones and daylight-savings (yes, we've already switched to winter-time) caught me off-guard, didn't even set the recording - but judging by Q1/Q2 times compared to Q3, Alonso didn't go too light. Earlier in the season, it was always disappointing to see him in the top six, because you just knew others were heavier and would leapfrog him - but this time, all of the top-six lost approximately 1.5-2 seconds in Q3 - so I don't think he's quite as light as he used to go.

Renault seems to be back near the top judging from their latest performance (With exception from Picrashio ofcourse...)

7th and 8th for Toyota, nice result 👍 I've got a feeling Hamilton's going to clinch the title this year right now...

These things are never won until they are won. Remember Hamilton was 13 points ahead this time last year. To quote Murray Walker, anything can happen in F1 and usually does.

bee: Hopefully along the lines of Break Hamilton's car. :D

And Bram, it's about 5 AM

I was thinking that, He wouldn't get a penalty would he?

Well, depending on how gracefully he does that, he might even put Hamilton at fault... A slight nudge towards the runoffs in the chicanes? :p

I just took under consideration that hamiltons car never had any technical problems like engine failure... maybe this race or in one of the last 2 races there might be a problem, so cards are still open. 7 more house to go!!

Chris

Does anybody know at what time GMT this race is on to follow?

Go on the official F1 website and click on local time to find out when it starts where you are. In the UK it starts at 5:30 AM that's British Summer Time.

If a Ferrari should happen to make contact with Hamilton, the only appropriate penalty would be to ban Ferrari from F1 for ever.

That wouldn't happen of course, especially after an interview I saw on BBC news last week with Max Mosley, who had a model of a Ferrari F1 car on display in his office!

I've got a semi-finished model of a BMW-Williams. So? :p

If a Ferrari should make contact, there's nothing we can do about it. It might even be a regular racing incident. Plus, the Japanese stewards are used to rough contact deciding the championships - Prost and Senna did that, twice!

So let me get this logic straight:
McLaren yet to have technical problems with their cars all year
and
Ferrari have had several engine problems and issues with setups
which means:
McLaren are more likely to have technical problems now?????

Whats changed thats made you think this? I think this just makes it highly unlikely that McLaren are going to have any problems at all.
