The back end looks a bit Sebringy, but otherwise it’s quite gorgeous for a budget midsize sedan. Yum!

Hmm... at first I thought wtf... but, after seeing the ass I'm all on board. That image is the worst view to give someone a first impression with.

Anyway, the 6 is a bit bigger than I'd lke but I'd still buy this especially if they have the hatchback version.

That looks great. A see a lot of teh Kabura ect. in the front end, which is a good thing. I think I also see a little Toyota/Lexus there, but only in some angles.

It really is looking good though. I can't wait to start seeing these cars on the road.

Hooray! My Mondeo is here!

I really, really really really really, R-E-A-L-L-Y want the Mazda6 Hatchback. Thats just awesome!

My dad owns a 2005 Mazda 6, and I must say this looks even better than the current one! 👍

My god, I thought the current car was sexy! I love the front fender treatment. Oh man what a side profile aswell! Wait, I thought they axed the wagon?! BTW, it is one sexy wagon.

The saloon rear looks a bit too Chrysler for my tastes. Otherwise it looks fantastic.

Ooh! Looks like an even sexier version of the Lexus IS. That's a good thing! The estate is mucho butcho - Lovely stuff...

I love those wide fender and the new wagon version is beautiful too. I guess the Mazdaspeed 6 will be hot like hell. I think it looks bigger than previous model and the rear kinda looks like a mix of Sebring and S2000 for the hatch version.

Interior looks nice, but I see their design cue a bit similar to the new Accord.
I definitely want to see how it against new Accord and Camry.

Whoa.

2008 is full of great looking midsize sedans. I don't think I'll buy another first year model again, but this car is beautiful. 👍

Excellent 👍. I thought that the last couple of model years for the 6 were a bit stale. I'm not blown away by its looks, but I'm sure it will be gorgeous in person.

This is one car I thought they'd have ****ed up when the first teasers came out... but seeing more of it, I'd like to say...

Great Job. Clap. Clap. Clap. :D Perfect.

Whoops... almost perfect... Oh well... I guess Mazda would have to have given in sometime...

It's got a bit of the RX8 to it, and some of the Mazda3. The Mazda6 was the first "new" Mazda in a long time, and, as such, while it previewed the new design language and the newfound vigor the brand had, it still had a ways to go to be a truly world-beating machine... it garnered lots of praises and awards, but right after it came out, the competition got more refined, bigger and more powerful. The Mazda6, no matter how good it was, was still basically a 626. It fell behind in space, size and refinement, and now, as it's about to bow gracefully out to the new one, looks positively old.

I think this one is timed well. It's going to be released at just the right time to go toe to toe with the new Camry and Accord models. And it looks fan-****ing-tastic. Traces of RX8, there, neat styling to disguise the overhangs, and a sweptback, blistered look that's Germanic... almost Italian.

That shape makes it look almost RWD... such patently fraudulent styling should be illegal!

The jewel-like lights are absolutely gorgeous...

Damn... I think I've got a tear in my eye...

Mazda's done it again... there aren't many manufacturers who manage to combine traditional looks and proportions with futuristic touches... and to come out with something that's uniquely their own without looking insanely weird. And if this version of the 6 gets better engines and class-matching space, this car might help move Mazda up a few more spots on the sales ladder.

Hmmm.... from that angle it looks like a cross between the 3 series and the IS. I still like it, but now I'm really scared about the price.

Edit: Not a big fan of the start button.

Given it's Mondeo basis, I'd doubt it would start much more than $17-18K for a basic 6i (2.3 Zetec) with a stick...

-> I got to say, not bad, not bad at all! The wagon really stands out against the other two (sedan and hatch). But since they phased-out the wagon this year, the wagon won't see a daylight here in the US. :indiff:

:indiff:=I hate the US auto market=:indiff:

OMFG are you serious? THIS CAR LOOKS FABULOUS! I love Mazda!

Maybe they phased it out because its the last year of the car? 💡

^ No, the sedan still goes on 'til next year, I don't see why the wagon (along with the Mazdaspeed 6) dropped for this year. :indiff:

Their official reasoning for dropping the Estate was poor sales. The same thing can be said of the Mazdaspeed6. They just weren't quite the right things for the market right now, or worse yet, Mazda didn't push them hard enough (which I think is the case).

...Interestingly, they were having a real easy time selling the hatchback model...

^...
Current gen = I can't say much, as long its not a sedan.
Next-gen = Definitely the wagon, hands down!

YSS

^ Funny I didn't even see any ads on the wagon and the MSpd 6, but the sedan and hatch are. Mazda wasn't motivated enough I suppose. :indiff:

~> CX-7, CX-7, CX-7, bah! :grumpy::yuck:

This car looks fantastic. It is the sort of styling that more cars sold in North America should be like. Whenever I visit Europe during the summer every year, I get more and more impressed with the styling of new cars out such as Citroen C5 and the Alfa Romeo 159, Ford Mondeo, the list goes on and on.

This car along with the new Mitsubishi Lancer look very nice.

Autozine says it will not be based on the Mondeo, and instead on the same platform as the current car.

Yep, saw that in the other thread.

...Assuming they do share components though, I'd expect prices to be not too different from where they are now...

And I'd still order mine with the 2.3L I4 and a stick...
