2009 German Grand Prix

I am shattered.:( Webber in with a real good chance for his first win and gets a penalty that in my opinion he didn't deserve. I've seen much worse incidents get let go in the past. He was aggresive yes(he is Australian...), but I don't think it deserved a penalty. There were some very unhappy people in my household when he got a drive through.

Harsh for Webber, although I can't understand why he swerved into Barrichello - either way, it didn't benefit him at all. Atleast Kovaleinen has done him a major favour by backing the pack up, and with Barrichello on a different strategy, there is still a good chance that Webber can win this (esp. as Vettel and Button are not firing on cylinders today either).

Anyway, Webber managed to take his penalty in 2nd place, and come out in the lead

it will take one hell of a drive to win it over Rubens from here I think, traffic after his first actual pit stop could get in the way of that. Still their is hope. Stick it up the stewerds Webs!

A tough call for Webber, although I think he can still win this race;)

He could if he does some Dan-esque laps.;):D Hopefully he can just do 40 more time trial laps to win the race.:D

Haha, na seriousloy, he is almost in an unbeatable position, with the Barricello having to pit 2 more times, Webber is in the clear, he will never get a better chance to win a formula 1 race than right now, its pretty exciting!

Really looking good for Webber now. I agree with Dan, his position is fantastic with Rubens on a 3-stopper and Mark on a 2-stopper. He has also been faster. I'm just pleading that he doesn't get held up....

GO WEBBER!:D I really hope he can do it and so does the rest of Australia i'm sure.

Rubens fueled up for a 2 stopper
... or not, as it turns out...

The sky is looking ominous, though - the whole of Australia will be praying it doesn't start raining before the end of the race!

edit: It sounds like it maybe starting to rain

edit 2: ... or not

I'm praying. Please don't rain....:nervous:

EDIT: Rain was mentioned by the commentators! Come on Webber! Keep it on the road...:nervous:

Alonso holds the fastest lap by nearly a second...

That's impressive...

YEAH!! GO MARK!:D

Wow, what a win! A drive through penalty and still wins. I've never seen that done before. That was an awesome drive. I'm sure all of Australia will love that Webber has finally won a race! That is simply awesome. And obviously Mark is happy about the win as we heard on the radio. He dropped a 🤬 word too I believe...

Australia is proud i'm sure! Congratulations Mark Webber.👍

"That's the Austrian national anthem, you idiots!"

j/k

Well deserved win, great result

He's good for the "F" word:lol:

Well done Mark, richly deserved.

A good jump in points over Brawn too, for Red Bull:tup:

That was fantastic to hear the Aussie anthem on an F1 podium. First time for me. Last time was 1981 I believe which was way before I was born. Awesome to see an aussie win a race. Can't wait to hear what he has to say.:D

A fully deserved first victory for Mark Webber. I get the feeling it won't be the last one he wins this season either.

On the Drive Though. It was also fully deserved. It was a stupid thing for him to do, the act of a man who panicked, and it is about time the FIA told the drivers not to change their lines like that. It is dangerous. How would we all be feeling now if Rubens had been catapulted into a grandstand? Mark my words. It will happen sooner or later unless the FIA puts a stop to those kind of start line moves.

Hard luck on Sutil he could have had a 4th place today.

Brawn really struggled today and their car is now clearly inferior to the Red Bull.

Massa's first podium this season. He was very slow at the start but made his strategy work.

Rosberg scores good points again. Williams are getting better and may win a race this season.

Brilliant result Mark Webber! Thoroughly deserved and a fantastic drive! I was quite amazed and shocked at the drive through penalty Webber was given for the contact he had with Barrichello, but he managed to recoup and get the win! 👍 Well done Webber!

Great win for Mark, very lucky that Heikki held up the pack and that all of his opposition hit traffic, but he still had the best pace out there so 100% deserved.

As for Sutil, once again we see that he can't handle pressure situations.

I am happy it finally all come together for Webber

WHOOOOO!!

I've been waiting many years for this moment. Brilliant drive from Webber... what a complete legend 👍

I loved his reaction over the radio after the race, too.

Brilliant work Webber, to come back from a relatively harsh but fair DTP to win a fantastic race.

Did anyone get the impression that he was crying while on the radio?

Yeah it did sound like it. He also went absolutely crazy saying "OH YEAH!" and dropping the f-bomb at one point. But rightly so, he has been trying for this win for so long and many australians including myself have been staying up late for many years hoping that Webber would win a race.

Brilliant drive by Webber. I'm proud to hear the worlds wussiest national anthem played during the podium ceremony. I was hoping Hamilton would find his way on to the podium today, perhaps in Hungary. Harsh luck for Sutil after that fantastic qualifying effort. Will celebrate tomorrow with a can of Red Bull (pfft, I would've got one anyway now that I'm not poor anymore).

Bring on the Hungarian GP!

Fantastic drive by Webber, felt sorry for Sutil and Hamilton today, but a good race none the less.

Everyone was saying 5 of top 8 or something were MB powered, now look what happens.

Whatever you do, in F1, don't hype yourself up.
