Go Webber! Completely fair start by Mark, he was just quicker off the line and took the inside gap that was available, no foul play by either driver.

After Vettel shoved Webber into the pitwall!

And replays show Hamilton's front wing causing Vettel's puncture.

No love lost there, eh? :dopey:

-

Yeah.. Vettel and Alonso both bogged the start... on the clean side of the track... Maybe Mark is now thankful for the old wing? :D

Anyone tuning in at this moment will see Vettel in front of Webber and Hamilton behind them, and figure everything is status quo... ...little do they know...

EDIT: Alonso does know he has to give Robert back that position... right? He just pulled a Hamilton on him.

EDIT2: Took them long enough to give Alonso a penalty for that one... given that it was live on camera!

Anyone else using the BBC's driver tracker that's new this weekend?

Ace little tool. Can pretty much have your own pitwall...

What's the URL?

As it stands now... Button's done a great job of getting up into fourth... Rosberg is in third, Hamilton and Webber still in a league of their own in terms of race pace and Seb complaining over pit radio about backmarkers.

Team orders? "Don't do anything stupid."

Alonso's drive-through has absolutely ruined his race. His fault entirely, though... he knew he had to give that place back, and he had every opportunity to do so.

EDIT: Vettel made that pass on Massa look way too easy.

EDIT2: And here's a shocking thought: McLaren seem to have found the pace they needed over the past night... both Button and Hamilton are doing much better in terms of pace compared to the competition than they did in Quali. Excellent work by the team. 👍

Classic Legard comment on BBC 'Village, named after Silverstone village and farm, named after Silverstone farm' 💡

EDIT: an even better one 'That would take him up to 11th, and that's just outside the top 10'

Just on that page. You're not in the UK though, so it won't show up for you.

Damn racist web-programmer! :grumpy:

Vettel is on a real charge. He definitely has a chance of taking Sutil... but can he get past Kobayashi and Barrichelo to line up behind Button? Don't think he has enough time left.

Hmmm... as I say this... Jaime Algesuari brings out the SC... maybe Vettel has a chance...

I was about to say: Good Job from Sutil in bottling up Vettel... but Vettel just knocks him aside on his way through. Incredibly rough stuff there...

Don't think the British fans will be too unhappy... an English-speaker still won the GP.

Favorite part of the race:

Ted Kravtiz: "They (Ferrari) say that it is impossible to give a position back to somebody who has retired."

Martin Brundle: "What Ferrari should have done is given the place back straight away."

"Not bad for a number 2 driver".

Exciting race, there were some great little battles throughout. Good to see the Webber win and a great performance from Rosberg and the McLaren's. I'm so glad I'm not Alonso this year, though.

Alonso wins one place overtaking and receives a penalty that takes him to the bottom of the grid.

Hamilton overtakes the safety car and the penalty has no effects.

The race direction is a shame, pure british cheating or stupidity at its greatest extent, I don't really what to think.

That one, was one of the best race of the year, and one of the best British GP that I have ever watch!

Congratulations to Mark Webber, doesn't matter you have a new wing or an old wing you are STILL THE WING! Congrats to Hamilton, that car was a wild bronco ride but he just drive the very best and not to forget Nico Rosberg finishing 3rd on the podium.

I would also want to congratulate others, lots of incidents and what an action pack race. The last laps battle of the Germans was just breathtaking. Either one could go and the one to lead was Vettel. He drove from last to 7th and that was an amazing drive! Not to forget Kobayashi did a fantastic job bringing home the Sauber in 6th place. Sorry not to mention the other drivers who made a great effort for entertaining us for a very long 52 laps. Ferrari look terrible this weekend. Sad to see Kubica retire... Newbies best belongs to the Lotuses. Love to see them racing together with Liuzzi earlier.

Damn great entertainment everyone should say. That's how Formula 1 should be...

Purely xenophobic (bordering on racist) comment, grow up. Both did something wrong and both got the same penalty, Alonso could've avoided the whole thing by simply giving back the place he took unfairly at the time.

Another great race on a rather boring track, especially the 1st six drivers did a brilliant job.
Even if I'm German I can not understand why RBR seems to favour Vettel all the time... Webber is much more mature driver and deserves a title more and on the other hand Vettel is too hot headed, not ready for a title IMO.

The Mc Larens did a very good job, too. Awesome podium for Rosberg.
👍

PS: LOL @ Ferrari, what were they thinking, if anything?

Great driving from Webber. Alonso did a string of bad driving (start, overtaking Kubica on the outside) and had the bad luck of having to do the drive-through AFTER the SC.

Racist?? I don't see why and why and why??

In Valencia the FIA pronounce a penalty to Lewis quite a delay. In this race the penalty for Fernando was also quite a delay. Just that this time Fernando wasn't on luck that the safety car was out because of the debris from De La Rosa...

Now British cheating? Stupidity?

This race was just too frustrating. Too annoyed at all the tough luck that has occurred on some drivers to be able to enjoy the race.

Oh well next race I guess.

Racist?? I don't see why and why and why??

Racism: racism is a belief or ideology that all members of each racial group possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially to distinguish it as being either superior or inferior to another racial group or racial groups.

e.g. saying British are cheats.

Especially pertinent given that Alonso has such an impeccable record himself

His entire race was an epic fail. Love how Ferrari are whingeing over the incident... when Alonso's indisgression was much clearer than Hamilton's... and it wouldn't have killed him to simply give the place back.

How hard could it be?

What was Fernando thinking?

"I'm on the grass."

"I'm past Kubica."

"Nothing wrong there... nothing at all..."

Whoopys mate.. I think you misunderstood my line there.

My line ''Racist??'' was actually referring to him like are you a racist?? And the next line ''I don't see why and why and why??'' refers to that why should someone be a racist??

Sorry...

Sorry...

Oh ok, sorry! Like you say, both had identical penalties for a transgression so how can one be fair and one not. If anything Alonso is stupid because he had the chance to rectify his error by conceding the place but he didn't, serves him right really.

Yes, the coveted Stupidest Moment Of The Year Award goes to Alonso for bringing a needless penalty onto himself. However, Ferrari have deicded to make martyrs of themselves claiming that if harsh penalties are going to be applied, then Silverstone is a case of how they should be applied. They're obviously still smarting about Valencia.

Alonso won a position (to a pilot who retired in the next lap) and had a penalty that has sent to last position.

Hamilton won 20 positions and their punishment had no effect.

It is not my intention to offend any group, but it seems clear the disproportionality in the distribution of sanctions almost always benefiting British racers and teams.

Personally, I don't like Alonso and I don't feel identified with him, but those decisions misrepresent the races.

Is a sport tainted by corruption and manipulation of its top management.

Webber will surely move to another team for next season, it's pretty clear that he is extremely pissed off with RBR.

I doubt that very much, his comment was just a sly remark, sort of semi rubbing it in to Horner for his dis service to Webber over the wing incident, Webber is the kind of guy to forget about things pretty quickly, he won the race anyway!

Alonso didn't win the position at all, he cut the corner. Although I do feel the penalty is harsh considering he had nowhere to go except off the track or run into Kubica, however he should still of given the place back immediately. When Kubica retired though I think the penalty should of been dropped.

Are you new to the sport this year because you seem to be forgetting all the junk McLaren had to go through over the last few years with the FIA or as Martin Brundle called it earlier Ferrari International Assistance.

Sure but Horner isn't the main problem. The team boss blamed Webber for the crash in Turkey which Horner disagreed with until they had a chat. Webber is being screwed over from the very top and I think he knows it.
