"And Senna leads out of the pits..."

That's probably the only mention of Senna I'm going to hear throughout this whole race...

I think Ron Dennis stole Hamilton's testes and replaced them with ball bearings. Dude is driving like he has grape shot in his pants.

So, now Hamilton is closing on Rosberg, McLaren 1-2, high fives on the podium, and a Ron Dennis smile, anyone?

Lol, Bob Varsha is talking about Petrov's female manager and how you don't see many female managers in the sport. Then David Hobbs goes, "I've got a female manager." Varsha asks, "You do?"
"Yeah."
"The one you're married to?"
"Yeah."

 I love Hobbs.

👍

I got a good chuckle out of that too..

Sutil's putting up one hell of a fight against Schumacher. This is turning out to being an exciting race.

Rosberg is doing pretty good too...

I think this might be a 1-2 victory for Mclaren today.

Brilliant race... 1-2 victory for Mclaren. Petrov did pretty good too. Crazy Russian.

Schumacher was doing pretty well midway through the race, but I guess his opponents put up a better fight...

Shame that completely unnecessary safety car deployment cost Kubica at least a podium finish , but after such a horrible start it is still a very satisfactory resolution to a very interesting race.. :)

At the finish: McLaren 1-2, pat's on the back and a content looking Whitmarsh.

Not gonna happen junior :sly:

Massa all the way :D

I thought Hamilton was very aggressive today. Him and Alonso had very good drives. The 2nd SC helped alot.

Button was cool as ever again really good drive.

Yet another interesting session, generated entirely by DHMO.

Bahrain qualy: Dry, dull
Bahrain race: Dry, dull
Australia qualy: Wet, interesting
Australia race: Wet, interesting
Malaysia qualy: Wet, interesting
Malaysia race: Dry, dull (once the qualy oddities had sorted themselves out)
China qualy: Dry, dull
China race: Wet, interesting

The correlation is startling.

Still, it was fun to see all the pitlane entry/exit shenanigans :D

Button was a very naughty boy on the restart, but I suppose the track doesn't really help. Normal procedure is to coast a bit and back the pack up, then hit the SC line running. Button did that, but he was effectively coasting through the braking zone of the 200mph straight, onto the 45mph apex - and the SC line is before the final corner!

Sad to see Shummy in such a bad performance :(

He had retired with unmatchable glory. But he screwed it all up now. Anyway, I hope time proves me wrong.

Thanks to the kinder, gentler stewarding... I don't expect that to result in any penalties, but I feel a bunch of rule clarifications coming.

Leave it to Lewis to find the last few loopholes in the rules that need sewing up.

Maybe he's learning from Wonderboy? Or [conspiracy theory] he bunched them up on purpose to give Hamilton a better chance of gobbling up places?

F1 needs rain to make it interesting... just goes to show that the cars have waaaay too much grip when it's dry.

Well done Jeson and Lewis 👍

Very interesting race, anyone could have won.

Luizzi was a little hard on the cold brakes, gave Kobayashi and Buemi an early shower.

Pass of the day has to go to Alonso on his teammate.... in the pitlane entry

Schumi is clearly uncomfortable in a car that Rosberg is clearly very comfortable. Something will have to give sooner or later.

Red Bull with some very strange stratergy calls. Very difficult to get right in changing conditions, but the cars being good enough for pole and having more downforce, probably should have done better.

Full marks to McLaren though, both drivers controlling their own races to come out with the best possible result.

Wow, who thought Button would be leading a championship again? Surely now Button is seriously going up in people's books finally? I mean, thats the 2nd race he's made the great strategy call and won this year, he's beaten Hamilton 3-1 in qualifying and is leading the championship in "Hamilton's team".
He may not have the outright speed and aggression, but is proving himself time and again to be one of the best as an out-and-out all-rounder.
The only blemish was the naughty safety car start, but then again, looking back from his car, he didn't do anything particularly wrong. He started slowing near the end of the 200mph straight (which they don't take at 200mph behind a safety car obviously) and progressively slowed down and took the hairpin maintaining a slow pace. On any other corner at any other circuit, this would have been fine. I recall he did the same last year at Australia, and its common practice for safety cars.
I think it was just an unfortunate chain-reaction and the drivers behind got caught out by each other slowing down. Might be something to watch for though, maybe the rules need clarifying about when a driver becomes the safety car and how he handles the field.

Vettel was even more naughty to push Lewis into the inside of the pitlane, but I agree with the BBC/Martin Brundle's view that both drivers were at fault there.

Alonso was Mr.Lucky for benefitting from all the safety cars and constant tyre-swapping. Red Bull were no where, once again making a crucial strategy mistake (though to be fair, they weren't the only ones this time), again losing a lot of points while they still have a speed advantage.
Good to see Rosberg finally getting somewhere in his career now after so much promise at Williams. Another solid race for Kovalainen and the HRT guys, disappointing day for many.

Those 2 Renaults are a bit dark horse aren't they?

Petrov overtaking the Red Bull of Webber at the end was unexpected... Seems the RB munches tyres pretty quickly in comparison to the Renault...

Kubica too - he held off Vettel - and was 11 seconds ahead at the end...

My pass of the day has to be Lewis on Sutil & Vettel in one go!! (Helped a bit by Sutil running Vettel very wide!!)

Rosberg had a great race - managed to defend his positions very well in the end - only got overtaken by 1 car on the track - and that was Button.

Alonso got a huge slice of luck after his jump start!!

Hope no penalties goto Lewis - in fact I think that Vettel was more in the wrong - for delibarately trying to force Lewis into the area where the Mechanics are... for me they released at pretty much the same time - Vettel got much better traction than Lewis... having said that - their 2 pitstops were both terrible - I was surprised to see Lewis still there when Vettel left - cos the front rights seemed to be sticking all race long on both RB's.

EDIT: And I forgot to mention that the Lotus of Kovaleinen finished higher than a Williams this race... great stuff for Lotus.

EDIT2: Lewis and Seb have both been given a reprimand but no penalties... impressive stewarding - this new system with ex drivers involved seems to really be working.

Finally, after four races my prediction came true! ;)

What a great race to watch and a fitting way to end the saga of the 'fly away' events. A mini-season in itself, these four events have shaped up the rest of the season superbly.

Great driving by Schumy. Here's a fun game: take a shot of tequila every time someone says the word "rain." :D

If only it wasn't 7am when us UK types were watching, maybe I'll join in when we get to Canada

Seriously? Sure, it ain't like watching 'Die Hard' at every event but if that's what you want - rent Die Hard.

(Button)...He may not have the outright speed and aggression, but is proving himself time and again to be one of the best as an out-and-out all-rounder.

I never considered Button to be a 'Alain Prost' but, do we have a new 'Professor'? It is evocative of the Senna/Prost pairing.

That was an amazing drive from Petrov! He thoroughly deserved those points after his spin. Wasn't very impressed by Button, it wasn't really supreme driving that one him, more a fortunately good strategy.

Lewis was very good too, yet another one of his amazing drives (almost) to the top. Schumacher sucked, Alguersuari should have done better, Vettel had bad luck, Webber had even more bad luck, and Kobayashi is beginning to replicate Vettel's start to 08'!

I wouldn't really call spinning out of 6th place an amazing drive either :p.
Petrov did well, but come on, the car is clearly good, he also benefitted from the correct tyre decisions and safety cars. He was flat-beaten by Kubica and he made a fair few mistakes.
A good drive to deserved points for a rookie, but not "amazing", and certainly not something to point to as a counter-point to Button's win not being particularly impressive. I suppose its amazing if you're comparing to Piquet and Grosjean's performances, but then Petrov doesn't have Flavio and Alonso "helping" him.
I think Petrov could have finished 4th.

Hamilton's drive was what I would call "amazing", though even his race was helped a lot by the safety cars.

Seems I watched a different race than anyone else. :ouch:
I found this one rather boring compared to the last and very predictable... there could have been going a lot of things wrong making it more exciting, but didn't so much. The reason for it being pretty boring for me is probably the stupid track design, because it's very hard to overtake there (without rain this would have been another even moreso horrible boring procession), it's one of those straight, sharp corner, straight, sharp corner, repeat tracks that I really don't like much.

And I thought it was clearly Hamilton's (aka McLaren's) fault at the pits, but the stewards prove me wrong.

Another great and well deserved victory for Button, good race from Hamilton, too.

As for MSC, yes this was a rather poor performance, but as I said before, his car is understeering a lot and this guy needs an oversteering to neutral car to do some of his 'magik'. ;)

I think people are seriously underestimating button. Making the right decision once is a lucky guess but twice? I'm starting to think he actually knows what he's doing. Not to mention he's a world champion. And anyone saw his tires at the end? They were almost slicks! I wonder if anyone else's looked like that.

Two wins in four races. It's too early to tell but I won't be too surprised if he wins another championship.

Hmm, I have to say that if you didn't find that race interesting, then you might be watching the wrong sport. It had as many overtakes as any classic race and featured a good mix of strategy, overtaking action and drivers on the edge.
And stupid track design? What on earth? If anything, its one of the better tracks, I actually prefer it over Malaysia for racing action.

Or could it just be the wrong drivers did well? Funny how some people will complain that a race is boring when their favourite driver does badly ;) :p.

Just out of interest, would you mind telling me/us who your favourite driver and team are?

At one point I was busting to take a leak, I was waiting ages to time it right and when I came back the second safety car was out the top 10 had almost been reversed etc etc. I haven't seen a race like that for a while where from front to back, there was never a certainty to who would finish and where.

I thought it was a very entertaining event and that it had something for everyone, :guilty:.

Woah - i just lost my post I was typing for ten minutes.. :/

Anyways, I'll just say I love F1 ( been watching since I'm 2 ) and I found the last race in Malaysia much more interesting, because it was nice to see a race there under try conditions for once.
I guess, I just don't like the Chinese circuit and I think the overtaking wasn't really overtaking, rather fast cars desperately trying to get past much slower cars.
For example if you think Hamilton Vs Schumacher was a battle, it was, but not fair and exciting, Schumacher Vs Hakkinen was a battle or Senna Vs Prost, because they had similar strong cars...
Don't get me wrong tho, I find this so far the best season in a long time (maybe since 1999) and very unpredictable who's gonna be WDC.

Edit/
As for my favourite teams/ drivers? That's hard to say, changes usually from race to race, I decide before the start who will probably win or even just think the better driver/ team should win (like it happened today).

But... my all-time favourite drivers gotta be Schumacher, Hakkinen, Villeneuve.
I'm usually with the underdogs tho. This season it's FI, Sutil, Kobayashi and Schumacher. BTW I really think Webber deserves a Championship for once...
oh, and Nico Rossberg is pretty cool (for a German) actually. :)
