Did Button actually overtake anybody on track?

Special mention to Kovi too - solid finish for Lotus.
 
2 podium's in a row for Renault. Woudn't expect that before season.

Just noticed Heidfeld's different overalls; yellow from black last week. I preferred the black tbh... It's the little things in life.
 
That was mentioned at the start of this thread about the overalls.

I hope other people catch up or else it's going to be another boring season with Vettel running away with it.

I believe Hamilton had some front wing problems after that pit stop.

Another? Last season was incredibly interesting with the constant back and forth. I know what you mean though...if it keeps up like this I'm just going to pay attention elsewhere (which SPEED already does for you).

I didn't enjoy last year as it was obvious the problems Vettel had were just holding back the inevitable. The title fight may have been close but there were almost no close races.
 
Question: Would anyone dare refer to Vettel as the "Contemporary Schumacher"?

Finished ahead of Alonso and the car just decided to poop out. :p

Right now I can't see Ferrari keeping pace with McLaren or Red Bull, or even Renault for that matter.

Eh, how so? Had it not been for a stupid driver's mistake by Alonso he would have scored a podium finish. There's no way that Hamilton could have kept him behind and Heidfeld would definitely not have been able to pass Alonso.
 
My dislike of Vettel grows with every pole/race win he churns out from nowhere, hopefully he doesn't win the next race otherwise the championship's a wash IMO.

Oh and poor Hamilton, I've rarely seen someone so sad to lose :lol:
 
Once RBR gets the KERS sorted out it very well could be over with.

The problem is all the 2nd-5th infighting. Its keeping the gap up and Vettel drives away. If they want to beat Red bull (ferrari, Renault, Mclaren) they have to out qualify Vettel.

I actually think his career is eerily similair.

Debuts part way through a season and then joins another team after. (Schuey in the same year, Vettel the next year)

Then both drivers after a few years take their first title (and probably 2nd for SV) in a Renault powered car.

So if Vettel moves to a struggling Ferrari in 2012 then yes


Also Vettel, like Schuey in the Ferrari dominating years, is in the unfortunate situation of people not liking him because he's winning too much.
 
Vettel will likely stay with RBR till 2014, maybe longer.
 
If RBR know that the KERS is not working or they don't want to use it , why install it?

Just adds 50kg more to the car.
 
The thing is, I think that it isn't just the Red Bull's broken ability compared to the others. Vettel would still be in decent contention for podiums even if the car was at about Sauber's level. Case in point, his career at Toro Rosso...4th at China '07, running 3rd at Japan '07, won at Monza '08, 4th at Brazil '08, did pretty well at Singapore that year too if I remember correctly...etc, etc, etc.
 
That's a sad situation to already be in, Vettel with as many points as JB and LH combined.

Agreed. Similar style to Schuey on corner entry also. Vettel hasn't shown a ruthless streak to match 'macher though. Yet.

I'm instantly reminded of Schuey's utter dominance in what was it, 2000 to 2005?
 
That was a weird accident from Petrov. He went so far out off the circuit that I wouldn't be surprised if his steering was already loose. You can bet the FIA will want to take a look at that section of the circuit; no-one's ever been that far off-line before, and since a driver can't actully see what is directly in front of him, Petrov never would have seen it coming. That accident could easily have been much worse, so you can bet they'll have something to say about fixing it up.
 
Petrov got some massive air there, should get a trophy for that. Also kudos to Mark for running a 4-stop strategy, having a horrid start and still being able to put up a fight for 3rd (though admittedly Hamilton and Alonso's mistakes certainly helped).

It actually only really started in 2001, had a slight halt in 2003 and stopped at the end of 2004. In 2005 he didn't stand a chance.

Certainly a gold medal in aerobatics. Much tidier landing than Mark Webber at Valencia last year.
 
Hamilton and Alonso hauled off to the stewards... I don't think Hamilton did anything wrong. Alonso couldn't do much either.
