Very interesting race.

I two thought that a 2 stop race was a bad idea, yet Kurt still got through and won.

Now Jeff Gordon is 9th in the standings due to his 2nd place finish. I wish I could just burst through a wall and say "OH YEAH!"

That was a fantastic race last night. Completely put the F1 to shame in my opinion.

Also enjoyed the big battles, and I really liked 2 of my top guys getting ready to move on from the race incident even before they seen each other! (Vickers and Stewart).

Well done to Busch, never put a foot wrong, and a well earned Road Course. How those Dodges are still competitive with only 3 of the 43 cars running their motor weekly is brilliant.

Well said Tommy. 👍

Surely someone had to be watching the race right now, the racing is starting to pick up :scared:

Edit: Damn, Ragan won it :grumpy: Wanted Logano to win that with all that pushing Kahne was giving him, but they didn't even get a run. Even then, good run for Logano and Kahne. I hate it for for Gordan and Martin though, they worked it to perfection but didn't even make it.

Edit 2: Nevermind, Gordon finish 6th :D

Overall, wild finish for the 2nd night in a row.

I actually started to doubt that Ryan Newman was going to be in an accident before the race was over. When that caution came out for Gordon's spin, I kept my eyes glued to the 39 knowing a crash was going to happen in his vicinity.

Bet Edwards was not happy having to drive a beat up car smelling up all those fumes pretty much the whole race and not gain positions.

Nice save by Gordon to finish 6th after spinning.

Congrats to Ragan getting the win.

I saw maybe 40% of the whole race. Since everyone already is talking about who won, my salute goes out to David Ragan. So Trevor Bayne in February... and David Ragan in July. First Cup wins at Daytona for these two this year. When your first win is at a track like Daytona in a series like NASCAR, that's huge. That's like the college basketball equivalent of a mid-major beating Duke, North Carolina, or UCLA.

Next week... do you like your NASCAR on Bluegrass? Kentucky under the lights next week!

I got to watch about 75% of the race. My HDTV being about 23.5" tall :dopey:then the TNT/Coke/Sprint and other "Wide Open Coverage" (Logo's) using up 5.5" :yuck:of the bottom of the TV:dunce: the only thing I saw "Wide Open" was when they went to local commercials:sly:. I for one hope that SPEED gets to cover the races rather than TNT.💡

^
If SPEED had coverage of those races it would be little different than broadcasting them on FOX.

Nice win by Ragan and good recovery by Jeff Gordon. Bad luck for Bayne, if he wasn't drafting with the #2 he probably would have made it farther.

I demand you all to watch this, RIGHT NOW :p

Right now that is a good video...

...except for the very end.

Whilst watching the Nationwide racing Replay, I relised the two very important things for restrictor plate racing now: a partner and some lube

I did. Absolutely hate it, along with the fact that the track will also stop hosting Truck races at IRP as well. Its like NASCAR just kicked them out of the way.

Also, Montreal will not be on the Calender next year and Patrick Carpantier will retire after this year's Nationwide race there :( I swear, its like the bad news just keeps coming.

Right now, I've had the opportunity to watch this. At this rate, the opportunity to make more "right now" clips are very good.

Something tells me that the Cup races in Kentucky will be like the Vegas races after they added banking. Very good the first few years only to drop off and become a snooze-fest by the 5th year.

I saw not too much of the inaugural Cup race at Kentucky. What do you all make of the possible change to Fuel Injected engines for the series? Or did anyone really notice?

From what I've heard the only noticeable difference is that the engines are smoother.

I currently trying to find videos from the test. I'd like to get a good idea of them myself.

The biggest benefit with EFI isthe engines will run more efficiently as the computer can more accurately control how much fuel each cylinder gets independently which in turns makes the car run smoother and improves fuel mileage as well.

I'm surprised with all the technology the car manufacturers have that it's taken NASCAR this long to go EFI when it's been in street cars since the 80s.

All I heard about the testing was that a few teams were doing it, and that the test was good. Haven't paid much attention to it really. I think this is another one of those things coming to NASCAR that it's not really exciting because it should have been done a long time ago.

I am stunned that there was a lawsuit to bring a date to this race track. The traffic and parking situation was an embarrassment and the race itself was one of the worst I've seen this season. My prediction that I was going to enjoy Kentucky was hilariously optimistic. 👎

I remember the discussion of switching to fuel injection in the past and how there was much howling about teams finding a way to use it to cheat in some form or another. Haven't heard much of that this time around.

Anyone else getting tired of everyone comparing Kyle Busch and Richard Petty this week? In my opinion, Kyle isn't anywhere near the winner Petty was, because most of his victories have not been in the Cup series. 👎 He goes for the easy wins, hence why he runs in the Nationwide and Truck series so much. Until he can get to 200 CUP victories, the comparisons should stop.
