Big congratulations to Paul Menard, how cool is it to get your first Cup win at your favorite race of the season? It kind of reminded me of rooting for Bayne the last few laps at Daytona 👍.

That was pretty hair raising. Four guys up front trying to save fuel, and Jeff Gordon coming a second a lap faster with fuel and tires.

Great win for Menard. Epic run by Gordon there at the end. I was really hoping he would catch Menard but wasn't to be. Regan Smith 3rd!

On that note, my fantasy picks today sucked..... :(

Same.

Awesome finish, now THAT is a race. I honestly didn't even know who to cheer for as all the top 5 cars I was rooting for were right there and Gordan was coming. Great win for Menard though, I felt last year he could get a win if he has a chance and here we are a year later.

I would do fantasy, but I would end up not doing research and picking either Kasey Kahne or Brian Vickers every week and not being successful .

Hey, I'm doggone proud of my boy Jeff Gordon. I mean... did he WANT that win or what? Surely fought hard for it. He didn't win, but all credit to Paul Menard. Well done, mate!

Up next for Cup... Pocono. The Tricky Triangle. Who'll figure this one out next weekend? We shall see.

Pretty decent race overall. In fact, this whole season has been good in terms of seeing different drivers being in the mix for the win. The last time I remember being this good was 2002!

Somehow, having Betswick up the booth didn't make it a whole lot better. Not saying it was a bad move by any means but he can't do it alone.

That was a fun finish. Bestwick really does make a world of difference for me, but yes, having him in the booth with Parsons really was magic - his current supporting crew does leave something to be desired.

Great race, congrats to Paul Menard, and had a great time at the Brickyard today. :D --- Randy

Yeah, the ESPN crew doesn't have good chemistry like Bestwick and Parsons had, or even the Fox crew has. I don't think there's much ESPN can do with their current talent to strengthen the grouping.

 Wow damn, I didnt think they could fit so many.

Sorry had to post this:

I think the crew chief got a little too cute thinking that putting on 255 tires would give Bowyer much better grip through the corners but failed to realize the loss of top end speed due to the extra weight. No wonder Bowyer only finished 13th.

Rumor has it that the Truck series will be getting two new venues, one of them could possibly be Rockingham.

The Trucks are going to race in Rockingham in England? Just joking- I know, it's Rockingham in North Carolina. It would be great seeing them race there. When I was a fairly new racing fan, I remember when NASCAR Trucks (then NASCAR Craftsman Trucks) raced at Portland International Raceway back in 2000. Part of me says that NASCAR needs a track in the Pacific Northwest to really be a nationwide series. That is, unless you count Infineon Raceway as Pacific Northwest.

I think there was another fail, where the were showing the 'leader' but instead was listed as the 'winner' on the screen, lol.

I was looking ahead in the schedule and noticed that the Richmond race in September is named the Wonderful Pistachios 400 (yes, really). Is there any name less well suited for a high-drama, high-stakes race?

I'm also irritated that nine of the ten Chase races are now on ESPN; only Charlotte is on ABC, which means that you can't watch Homestead unless you have cable (!?). It almost makes me hope that the championship is mostly settled by then so that I don't miss too much excitement.

You could try livestreams on JustinTV. They usually show the whole race from start to finish.

Breaking news.... Carl is back with Roush Fenway Ford. :sly: --- Randy

Nationwide Finish: What the hell did I just watch??!!

I don't think I'm ever going to forget nor comprehend this.

I never though I would see in real life someone win blowing the engine then being hit by your teammate lol that's unreal

Oh lord. I just watched the race. LMAO I can't believe I just saw what I just saw.

Good run for Josh Wise as well.

Edit:

That is crazy. Imagine the sheer disappointment followed by "Oh 🤬, I won."
