For 🤬 sake, Vickers, you don't need to take out Kenseth twice. 👎 He's still running for points - there's a huge difference between finishing, say, third versus seventh in the standings.

It's amazing to see Stewart and Edwards running 1-2 for the second consecutive week. I wonder if there was actually something to Stewart's remarks:

Nascar.com
"It's theirs to lose now," Stewart said with a smirk, his words clearly directed as much at Edwards and his team as the media and fans.

And if that wasn't enough, the two-time champ then slyly dropped this little cutie when asked if he may have an edge on Edwards, who has never won a Cup championship: "It's definitely an advantage. But I'm not going to tell you why 'cause that's what I'm going to take to the next two weeks with me. We win this thing, I'll tell you what the advantage is and why. But there's an advantage."

That was payback from Martinsville. I like Kenseth but he deserved it IMO.
It's not a matter of whether it was "deserved" but a perception issue regarding taking out championship contenders.
Wait **** damn you Vickers. (Just remembered I picked Kenseth in the fantasy league today  )
What a change of heart. :dopey:

Two tires has really worked for Kurt Busch. If a caution comes out, I can see Stewart rolling the dice and do the same.

Vickers, I understand you have no ride, so Y U THINK WRECKING KENSETH IS GOING TO GET YOU A NEW RIDE? I have to admit, I liked the way Kenseth handled the interview. I wouldn't of. --- Randy :dopey:

Edit: Way to go Kasey Kahne!!! :D --- Randy

Woot! I've been wanting Kahne to win so much and it finally happened. This was an awesome weekend.

Because the gap is only three points, both Stewart and Edwards can guarantee that they win the championship if they win the race next weekend, which is quite an interesting situation - even finishing second won't necessarily be enough for Edwards to secure it. It will be quite an exciting race to follow next week, although I still consider 2004 to be the pinnacle of the Chase.

The rest of the Chase drivers are in tight bunches, too. Harvick, Keselowski, Johnson, and Kenseth are going to be battling for third through sixth. Earnhardt, Kurt Busch, Newman, Hamlin, and Gordon will be fighting for seventh through eleventh, and have little chance to overtake any of the four drivers in the group above them. Kyle Busch is probably stuck in twelfth unless one of the five above him crashes or blows an engine.

If Edwards leads the most laps and places second, Tony can't have more points than him, but I'm assuming they would give it to Tony because he has more wins?

I believe so. Unless I'm getting the Nationwide championship mixed up with Cup, I think the amount of wins is usually the tie breaker.

Tie breaker works on wins, and if wins are the same it either goes to 2nd places or top fives.

Not completely sure which one gets factored in.

Was nice to see the track was dry when I got there. I left my house late enough that, after waiting in a traffic line for several minutes, I rode the tram up to the main gate to Will Call, got my ticket, walked up to the hillside and got situated about 15 minutes before the race started. :D

Needless to say when the sun came out it got warm, quick. Good thing I took an umbrella thinking about the rain, but ended up using it to shield myself from the sun. My thoughts on the race:

- #78 crashing on lap 2 = super lame
- #14 & #99 swapping positions all day was cool to see.
- #4 Kasey Kahne victory was the highlight of the day.

Some guy sitting to my left on the hillside came over and asked me if I was a Regan Smith fan. (was wearing my #78 hat) Said he was as well since he was from Denver, CO. We chatted for a bit, was nice to see another Furniture Row fan out there.

Can't wait for the Spring race. Going to do it right next time though, staying at the track all weekend. Traffic after the race is a 🤬.

I was originally rooting for Edwards to catch Kahne for the win... then I realized that I wanted Kasey to win! Since it would still mean that Edwards finished higher than Stewart in the points (although bonus points made it even anyways).

What a great way to go into the final race of the season though! Thank goodness Johnson isn't stealing the show again.

Anyone heard or seen anything more about NASCAR switching to a larger wheel/smaller tire next season? Thought my dad said something about that a few months ago but I haven't really heard anything else.

Edit: Never mind, found this from 2 years ago. Guess the 17" wheel never came about. :indiff:

You seem bummed. What was the big deal about it?

Well, looks like we got two Midwesterners going for the title down at Homestead- Missouri's Carl Edwards and Indiana's Tony Stewart. I respect both Carl Edwards and Tony Stewart. I do want to see Carl Edwards win his first title. However, we all know that drama is around every corner, every lap, every mile/kilometer in NASCAR.

All I can say is... may the better driver win this weekend. Same goes for the other championships in other levels of NASCAR.

So it seems either Vegas or Atlanta arces for my family next year. Fingers crossed. I might go ahead and just buy the family tickets myself.

"Oops I already bought tickets, guess we have to go now!"
