I was at Watkins Glen today, and besides taking many racing pictures that I'm sure you'd all love, I thought this was bit more interesting. Honestly, there was about a 30 second gap between the first and second picture. I'm still baffled as to how he did that in that one piece fire suit in that amount of time.

Hell yes!! Kurt just won it at the glen. All the drivers I was rooting for finished in the top 10 too :D

Is there a reason Nascar don't use the boot section of Watkins Glen?

Been racing it on iRacing this week and it is a great section of track. Nice elevation change and adds some passing opportunities.

Because for the most part, Nascar drivers are nothing more than "million dollar babies" and don't want to turn right any more than necessary or race in the rain. :grumpy:

Hmmmm, don't think that was needed.

Anyone have a constructive answer?

One guess I have - and it's purely a guess - would be that they want fans in attendance to be able to see as much of the action as possible, which means that they want more laps on a shorter course (so that someone sitting on the frontstretch can watch the cars go by 90 times instead of 60).

They have jet dryers on the track, but the skies are really opening up where I live. (80mi NW of Watkins Glen)

If you don't mind, could you tell me another series which the drivers try to put 900hp+ through an 11in wide rain tire without insane downforce?

But for fans who want to camp in the infield, they would be able to see more. Also the fact that waiting 1:40+ for cars to come by every lap wouldn't be that fun.

Sorry for the triple post, although does it really matter in this thread?

I can imagine the classified ads for a used Sprint Cup car now..

"Does not run well in rainy weather."

I don't think NASCAR has actively done any testing on rain tires for the Cup series to be comfortable putting the cars out there on them during a race.

Although I'm confused as to why the Nationwide series can run in the run in the rain.

Here I am, a Nascar fan, didn't even bother watching ANYTHING. 'Oh look some rain' *changes the station* Because I already know the outcome. They care more about their fans being wet than to have an amazing race where absolute skills come in. Boo. *goes to watch V8Supercars and pretty much every other form of motorsport which don't get faded when it sprinkles.* The only type of motorsport that shouldn't have to race in the rain are drag racing.

It's unfortunate that this kind of intelligence (or lack of) is as common as it is throughout the world.

Asshatery, not accepted.

GOD DAMMIT

Brad was catching AMbrose fuiuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Edit: Hard hit for David 1 & 2

Seriously, what I saw today as hard crash? Hamlin, Ku. Busch, Reutimann and Ragan all with hard crashes o.O
And finally I can say this: AMBROSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FINALLY! :D Marcos Wins on a Road Course! :D Congrats to him, and as for Boris vs the Biff... hmmmm that's a even call. The wrecks where nasty. --- Randy

All of you excited about Ambrose's win are lucky the caution cam out, Brad was on his bumper.

And Boris.... talk about being professional. 👎

Really hard to tell what went on there. Looked to me like Boris was actually off the left side of the track and was trying to get back on before he got to the grass. Ragan either didn't know he was still there or didn't give him enough room.

I think we are both referencing his interview afterwards.
