I think it's hard to tell from the audio, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was true and wouldn't be the first time someone has brought out the caution on purpose.

Edit:

Bowyer expected to sign with Michael Waltrip Racing: Sirius XM NASCAR Radio's Sirius Speedway with Dave Moody has learned that Clint Bowyer is near agreement on a new, multi-year contract with Michael Waltrip Racing, with an announcement expected within the next 24-48 hours. Bowyer will leave Richard Childress Racing at season's end, after being unable to come to terms with the team for which he has competed for his entire NASCAR Sprint Cup Series career. The Emporia, Kansas, native is reported to have spoken -- at least preliminarily -- with at least four teams; Richard Petty Motorsports, Roush Fenway Racing, Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing and Michael Waltrip Racing. MWR emerged as the leading candidate within the last two weeks, and now, final details are being wrapped up that will put Bowyer in an MWR Toyota Camry next season as a teammate to Martin Truex, Jr., and David Reutimann. Sponsorship will come from Five Hour Energy. The multi-year deal is in the final stages of negotiation, with an official announcement expected this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway.

Interesting to say the least.

/Career.

The question I have is, who is going to be in the #33 next year?

Guessing RCR will go down to 3 cars for 2012 as sponsorship was the main reason they didn't bring Bowyer back. This would also leave room for when Austin Dillon winds up in the Cup series.

Could “team orders” – one driver helping a teammate by on-track means that might be judged as below-board – play a role in the Chase for the Sprint Cup?

That question has popped up this week after what some observers, including Jeff Gordon, have labeled a suspicious caution flag near the end of last week’s race at Richmond International Raceway.

Richard Childress Racing driver Paul Menard spun out late in the race with Gordon in the lead. The ensuing caution allowed Kevin Harvick, Menard’s RCR teammate, to make up a deficit. He eventually won the race.

After the race, Gordon questioned whether Menard spun as a result of team orders.

On Thursday, Gordon said he has been told by a Hendrick Motorsports team member that RCR team radio traffic before Menard’s spin was suspicious.

NASCAR officials were reported to be looking into the situation Thursday. RCR has not commented on the allegations.

You kind of had that feeling when it happened, but wow. Absolutely appalling if true.

I always wondered about the caution flags coming out at oppurtune times for certain drivers, so I wouldn't doubt that it was arranged for Menard to spin on purpose.

The thing that is even worse to me is when the NASCAR officials are the ones that arange for cautions to come out at oppurtune times.

Example:
Ok, let me say this first, and I'm sure I'll hear some heat for it, but I am a Dale Jr fan. Always have been since my dad watched Sr. So naturally, I rooted for Jr. in the Nationwide as a teen. That being said, I've seen many times when Jr. goes a lap down, and almost immediately, a caution flag comes out for debris, giving him the lucky dog free pass. I understand when they have debris, you gotta clean it up, but on two definite occasions when this type of scenario happened, they never showed you the debris on the track on the broadcast. Being a fan, it actually gets me more upset if they are trying to help him win.

I also understand, and whether you like him or not most should aggree with this; that the best thing to help NASCAR with its ratings and attendance would be for Jr to win some races, and be really competitive. With the sheer number of fans that he has, this would help NASCAR overall. Many drivers have been quoted for saying this as well. But to make a handicap to help him out would be unacceptable in my eyes.

I'm not saying that it is definitely being done on purpose. Sure it could be a coincidence, but I remember this hapening quite a bit and I can only hope that it is indeed a coincidence.

Anyone else notice this? Please dont just say of course its fixed because you hate Jr. Do you really think that NASCAR would do this?

I just think he's usually in the right place at the right time. He got the free pass several times at Richmond, except for one instance where he actually created the caution by taking someone out on purpose. If NASCAR wanted to help him out, he would be doing better than he is.

Not sure about that at all. One of the Ford teams would have been better.

Perfect meme for Bowyer has just been born:

"Talks trash about a driver

Joins his team three years later"

As for the RCR deal, I would nornally just say its the media starting BS again, but here's the part that bothered me the most:

Spotter: "Harvick in the lead, doesn't need a caution now"

Menard: "Don't need a caution now, correct?"

Spotter: "Yep, thats correct"

Why is that even mentioned? And that press release where they state that they have no recollection of that (Even while that soundbyte is floating around) is even more suspicious.

Then it would be more exciting for us to watch.

I wouldn't call a 43 car parade around the apron at 20mph exciting, but to each his own.

It won't work on the banking, the cars have too much power and not enough downforce to make it work.

You know what I mean. If they went faster and crashed it would be exciting.

Just got home from the track. Waited as long as we could but it was pouring when we left, as did many others. Was hoping they would postpone it.

If Nascar decides to run this tonight there will be a lot of people in the stands dressed as empty seats.

They wouldn't work on high banked tracks.

I think the bigger issue with Rain Tires isn't one Goodyear hasn't spent too much time developing a modern rain tire to race with in any motorsport. Second I think it has alot to do with pavement. I think the reason Indy eats tires up when nascar comes to town is because it is a grade 1 track that can race Moto GP and F1, I don't think the Nascar tires are as high of a grade. So if all the tracks were repaved to be a "nascar grade" that would help with racing slicks but a potential rain tire that could make a big difference. The final thing would be the high banked tracks but I'm sure something can be figured out. Considering Rolex has run at Daytona in the rain.

That sounds quite stupid to waste resources just to see a crash fest. If you want wrecks go join your local demolition derby. That comment just seems like the fans that watch racing for a wreck and don't truly understand what racing is.

Can't tell if trolling, or actually serious.

No I watch it for the racing and do truly understand what racing is. Bit you can't tell me you enjoy a crash every once in a while. I know it would be dumb to just crash I was not being serious.

Nah I understand you were being a bit sarcastic I just see alot of people say they watch racing for the crashes...which is a waste to me.

Considering Rolex has run at Daytona in the rain.

DP's only run about 500HP compared to the Sprint Cup's 850HP, they also are designed with more downforce.

Saying that, I would love to see them racing in the rain at a track like Martinsville where it's flat and low speed. The problem is that it would take a lot of R&D money for an event that would rarely happen.

Yeah you have a point I'm just saying Banking doesn't always have to effect rain tires. I still think that Nascar go the route of DTM or V8 Supercar...but they wont because that isn't nascar I suppose. Also when they're at Daytona they're not running 850 they're running less power than Rolex. However, you win cause the downforce is not there and hasn't been.

At Daytona they are running around 500hp the NASCAR car's. But problem is the fact they have no so much torque and power. It's near impossible tbh.
