That was a great tribute, Sky played that during its coverage of a United-City game in the week of the 50th anniversary..a wreath was laid in the middle of the pitch and the was a minutes silence before kick off and both teams wore same sort of kits they wore back then..the occasion got the better of us and we lost 2-1..

If Sky Sports sources are correct it looks like Lampard is to be offered a contract extension, this is excellent news for Chelsea fans, this could be his chance to become Chelsea's all time leading scorer and beat Bobby Tamblings 50 year old record :D
 
Conversely, Carragher is retiring at the end of the season.

Good player in his day, but I think the time is right. That said, he played well against Arsenal recently in a rare start.
 
One of the best defenders in the country in his prime..

..one would assume he would be back as a coach or club ambasador (spell?)

I think he'll do it this year if he carries on in his current form and Benitez keeps playing him. He's only 6 off the record if I'm correct.
 
With Defoe out for a few weeks, AVB is very lucky that Adebayor is on his way back from Africa and should be available for saturday!

I struggle to see how a team like City will fit in these new rules. The lure to them is always we can pay more than "xxxx", what happens when they have to cut wages a bit and stop buying. Yet teams like Utd & Arsenal have been near the top for years and have had tough times with money have balanced it all out.
 
Forget about City, it QPR who will be in trouble if they avoid relegation! they are paying a guy £100k a week and theyre stadium is only 18000 capacity! doesnt make sense!

Good point. And if I'm not mistaken, they spent the second highest in the January transfer window out of the prem clubs. City are going to definitely struggle as well and maybe Chelsea because they have 24 players on loan to different clubs all over Europe. United should be OK because we get a lot from ticket sales and pay our players reasonable salaries.
 
I loled when you said we pay our players resonable salaries when we pay Rooney £250k a week!...but the form he is in right now, its worth every penny!

But i think Rooney might be the only one on six figures a week, although that said RVP might be on that as well...

I think it is only Rooney and RVP on big wages. Think Ferdinand used to be on £130,000 but don't think he is anymore.

Good point there. I didn't know he was on that much. I thought it was around the £150k mark. I just looked it up and unless my source is wrong, RVP is on the same as Rooney.
 
Teams like Arsenal, Spurs, Everton, Newcastle, Swansea, WBA, Sunderland and Stoke should be uneffected by this..

Only time will tell whether or not it'l be good. It could lead to higher ticket costs and a decrease in player quality if salaries are cut.

United should be able to win against Everton, but you never know.
Southampton will give City a fight for the points. I think it ends with a draw.
Chelsea should normally win easily against Wigan, but the on/off form Chelsea's been in, it could go either way.
Tottenham vs Newcastle is another match that could go either way. Newcastle has got some serious reinforcements and are looking strong.
Liverpool shouldn't have any problems in their match.
Aston Villa vs West Ham could possibly be a turning point for Villa, but for now West Ham is looking best on paper.
Sunderland vs Arsenal... Draw or away win.
Swansea vs QPR... Hmm... Could go either way here aswell.
Norwich vs Fulham.. Think Fulham wins.
Stoke vs Reading... Should be fairly easy for Stoke, but Reading has a good team and can surprise.

I'm not putting any money on the matches though, can't afford that. :p

Tottenham won after 2 goals from Bale. The first one was a beautiful freekick. :dopey:

Chelsea are 1-0 up, Arsenal the same. Swansea is 2-0 up against QPR at half time.


2nd half:

Red card for Arsenal's Jenkinson. :dunce: Not much to argue about though.

Swansea 3-1 up now.

Chelsea 2-1 against Wigan.

We won 4-1!! building momentum for the big game in just two weeks! :)

..also, what about the form Bale is in at the moment...just incredible!:eek:
 
Great result for Swansea there with Michu getting another 2 goals and that means Swansea have 9 goals against QPR in the EPL this season. Lampard getting his 198th goal getting within 4 of the record and their 4-1 win sees Benitez's job safe...for now. And Southampton are 1-0 up at City at the moment so that's good news for United.

Not really paying to much attention to the match as im watching the rugby as well!
