How can Maldonado be expected to see someone in his blind spot?

You're making a storm in a teacup here. The stewards investigated the incident. They took no further action. Therefore, Pastor Maldonado did not do anything wrong. But you obviously don't think he should be in Formula 1, so you're clearly trying to make a case for him to have his licence revoked or some such.

It's not going to happen.

Didnt change the direction??? you saw him go for the Apex or are you saying that he gave Maldonado room?
I think he missed the apex and then stayed on his line (not racing line), as he had no gap to fit in (well, apart from the grass). Maldonado on the other hand, had bunch of options and I believe he'd have overtaken the Frenchman anyway.

Not. I think he is fast and dedicated, just think he needs to "evolve" from these incidents, and won't do it without some "incentive".

Nothing much to say. Kovalainen seems to agree that he broke the rules but that the penalty was a bit harsh. No big drama. :)

I was trying to steer the subject away from the Maldonado bashing. Funny that some real news was missed.

Meanwhile, Kovalainen has been penalized for a breach of the rules. Anyone have anything to say about this or is Maldonado's name going to continue to be dragged through the dirt?

Well, if you insist. :)

He's an idiot. He threw away perfectly good points, something Williams have lacked recently, on the last lap of all things.

Hamilton seems to give a bit mentally weak image about himself when compared to other top drivers (I'm sure he handles pressure better than me or any other couch driver though). Fast but somehow fragile... maybe I'm just imagining things.

Maldonado was very quick today and it's good to see that Williams has real pace this year, but oh boy was he stupid... Was it worth it for the possibility of two extra points? No, I didn't think so.

Alonso continue to amaze me. He's easily the best driver currently on the grid.

EDIT: Wow, Hamilton looked really pissed in the press conference. It doesn't feel like he is in a "good place" yet.

EDIT2: Mercedes: I feared their tyre degradation would be high this year, but I think they can learn and recover from this. They have a very solid base to work off.

Well, his qualifying result was not really representative of the car's ability. And a big part of his result came down to his start.

Good race, disappointed with Merc performance, glad Red Bull are more competitive than qualifying indicated.

Funniest bit was Kimi radioing in, yelling "Why are they waving blue flags at me?!"

Kind of. In the cold hard light of day, there was no freaking way Alonso would ever have let him past, regardless of how much he pushed. Alonso is too experienced of a driver, and the performance difference obviously wasn't that great.

Then again, you sort of have to give Maldonado credit for trying. He'd been right on Alonso's tail for a long time, and I suspect it's pretty easy in that situation to get yourself fired up into pushing just that little bit harder than you really should.

He felt like he was in with a chance to take Alonso, and drove accordingly. His engineer should have been on the radio telling him to back the 🤬 off and take the points he had on the table.

I expect that he feels like a bit of a silly boy now, but he shouldn't really. He raced a good race, and he rolled the dice trying to take a World Champion in a Ferrari. He lost, but he can try again next race. I think overall he should be proud of his efforts this weekend.

I quite like the way Sky cut back to Button crossing the line at the last possible minute. It felt like a total after-thought amid the battle for the minor placings.

He was talking about the other one. Williams, not idiot. This is the brave part of Pastor I appreciate.

Can't blame them tbh, Maldonado's crash, Rosberg's car failure and the fight between the Toro Rossos and Saubers were definitely more exciting.

Ten laps from te end, Sky intercepted a transmission from Alonso's engineer telling him that the rears were going off. That information would have been relayed to Maldonado, who probably would have tried to push him to the point where he wore out his tyres even more. However, Maldonado later said that at the time of the accident, he had already accepted sixth place.

Yes I liked that aswell. Sure, technically all that matters in a GP is who wins it but I'm glad they didn't show much of Button trodding along and focused on the lower place battles more especially on the last lap with so much action going on.

I really enjoyed watching this week's race. It was worth it to sleep only 3 hours and set an alarm clock on a sunday (something I haven't done for as long as I can remember) but I'll certainly do the same next week. :)

You know that they don't control the footage right? It's all done by FOM TV.

@ prisonermonkeys

To not steer conversation back to the bad stuff, I edited a previous post to better illustrate my point 👍

OK8

I hope we get a lot of midfield action this year; it's looking really competitive. I was very disappointed last year when there was just one point separating Sauber and Toro Rosso going to Brazil and they qualified within sight of one another, but the BBC showed very little o it.

I'm surprised no one tried to join dots between Petrov leaving his car on the main straight, causing the safety car, and the benefit gained by Red Bull, also powered by Renault ( *sunglasses* The French Connection).

Just adding fuel to an unlit stack of wood :p

I agree, if he had of simply backed out he would of saved himself and there wouldn't be anyone to blame.

In other words, he should jump out of the way when someone tries to pass him. Let me see? Race Driver = push over? No not really.

When left with the choice of contact or living to fight another day, all racing drivers should choose the latter.

this.

all channels have a central feed for all on track action. has been for quite a while now. saves on crews and ensures equal coverage around the world.

Which then means every other driver on the grid see's you as a push over and will treat you accordingly.
