DTM is lacking a bit of aero this year but supposedly theyre getting larger tires for more mechanical grip

Yeah, because next year's have more flat surface. I mean, compare this year's A4 to next year's A5 aero bits is enough to tell you the difference. Also, they will share more parts and most noticable is the rear wing which is the same for all 3 cars... It's good that they have more mechanical grip. Means we could have more overtakin next year.

I think it's already obvious with him already signing a contract with Lotus...
He was being facetious.

But there is still a possibility that Grosjean could race in DTM - Renault have said that they are willing to make a seat available to Robert Kubica in the middle of the season if Kubica feels he is ready to race. Unless Kimi Raikkonen absolutely flubs it, it is likely that Kubica would replace Grosjean. In that case, Grosjean would need something to do for half a season ...

Is there anyone who rates Romain? Not saying he isn't someone I rate. I am just asking if there is because I don't know how good he is. He isn't a driver that has done the racing I am keen on.

He was good enough to win the GP2 title this year, and GP2 is the most-competitive feeder series for aspiring Formula 1 drivers.

Whether or not he can handle a touring car is another question entirely - but since he's signed up for Lotus F1, it's unlikely to be answered. Even if the team stands him down mid-season for Robert Kubica, Grosjean will still attend every race as reserve driver.

Or Kubica enters DTM for half a season and then goes F1, with Grosjean to DTM in 2013.

I seem to remember that Grosjean won some GT1 races with pretty much no experience at all.... I think he would do decent enough after a couple of races.

Wait... If Farfus, Prialux, Muller and Werner end up in DTM, Schnitzer ends up more or less screwed... So does RLL in America, who are a pretty quick bunch on the World scale...

Are there any confirmed date clashed between the DTM and ALMS season calendars for 2012?

Edit: Conceivably Werner and Muller could run a double programme in the ALMS and the DTM. I jsut checked the calendars. All of the races are on different weekends with no clashes except for Road America/Nurburgring rounds in ALM and DTM. The race that weekend is on Saturday for ALMS and Sunday for DTM. Its impossibly tight but it could be done. If Muller or Werner is expecting to win the DTM championship in there first season then I suspect they won't run ALMS because of this. If they are content knowing that this is BMW's first season then they'll probably be able to run both series. And have a better shot at winning in ALMS.

Wow. Who saw this coming. I didnt

Joey Hand gets a DTM ride!! Thats so awesome.

I have a feeling that despite being in this first year BMW is going to cakewalk this championship on sheer Driver talent alone. What kind of diabolical mastermind plotted this kind of driver line up for BMW's DTM program. BMW DTM has got more driver talent in a single team than any other Motorsports team in the world right now.

Priualx, Farfus, Hand, Spengler, Tomcyk???....this is the work of the devil lol.

I'm glad that Jens Marquardt is going all out for this, the global scale back in BMW Motorsport activities could be justified if they destroy the competition in DTM.

Have to be honest though, it's a good crop of drivers.. but it's still an unproven formula, I'm not going to assume anything until they are regularly on the podium.

Really looking forward to next year. I think that BMW will have to take about 4 races or so to get the car right. Then, after halfway, the car should be developed enough to start winning and absolutely dominating like they do in ALMS. It might take more or less time than that though. Will definitely be one of the best years of the series for sure.

With that driver lineup the car could be all wrong for all we know and theyd still be winning hehehe.

Tomcyk won in the old spec Audi....
Spengler was Mercedes Top guy when di resta left.....
Priaulx and Farfus Touring Car aces
Joey Hand (scorches the earth in anything he drives 1. Epic comeback at Daytona 24 hours.
2. Wins pole at ALMS Laguna Seca by a full second over the entire rest of the ultra competitve GT2 field in the ALMS including his teammate in identical cars)

Sorry If im being repetitive. Im honestly flabbergasted and still can't put the awesomeness of diese BMW squad into words.

BMW is stacked... But the team aspect has still yet to be seen. And their car may be garbage. Now its a matter of WHICH BMW driver do I support?

I think Schnitzer and Schubert are running at least a couple of the cars each. Im definitely supporting Joey Hand first off. :dopey:👍

Im looking for Prialux-Hand at Schnitzer, they both went to Le Mans with them. That'll sort out the team aspect maybe.
And then perhaps Tomcyk at the head of one team and Spengler at the head of the other.

Actually, it seems to be very likely that Priaulx and Farfus to go in Schnitzer together much like how they were in the WTCC days. The rest is pretty tough call yet...

We will just have to wait and see how it unfolds.

It would make sense to put Priaulx and Farfus together
Tomcyk and spengler together
Then Hand and (Müller? Werner?)
Hard to beleive that Dirk Muller wont get the last seat....He's been mum when asked about it meaning he probably has the job..

Priaulx took his 3 WTCC titles and 1 ETCC title with BMW Team UK a.k.a Racing Bart Mampaey.. a.k.a. BMW Team RBM. Would be nice to see them back together again, seems to be a winning formula.

The last seat of the BMW has been taken by Dirk Werner. So it's all done and dusted, they're pretty much ready to go for racing!
