How about before he was gone? That would have been avoidable then. After all, nobody lese managed to spin on that puddle.
Sooner or later, Bruno Senna will become a liability to Williams. It doesn't matter how much money he brings to the team - if he keeps this up, they'll cut him loose.
Well no one else spun on that puddle because they all saw Bruno do it. I don't really see what Bruno did wrong there - that kind of aquaplaning can happen to anyone - which is why the teams see it as a risk to run in these conditions.
Lets put it this way, if its due to Bruno being a poor driver, why did Lotus not send Grosjean out? Do you think its because they don't trust him not to crash it? Of course not, its the same risk for every team and when it happens I don't think we can really blame it on the drivers..or at least not driver error. Maybe he could have been more careful, maybe not. The videos show that he was already full throttle with his steering held straight-ish, its not like he was chucking it about the track and running wide or anything. He was driving almost in a straight line and aqua-planed in a massive puddle. Very tricky conditions.
And also, we did actually see other drivers getting it wrong yesterday. Just most of them were lucky to do it in places where they could recover or simply locking the brakes.
Certainly though it doesn't do his image any good this season. A big shame really and we are all left in the dark as to why. I can only assume he just can't get these tyres working this year as he's been plain slow most of the time. In 2011 and 2010 he did at least show bursts of speed and at Malaysia and China this year there was a little bit of that. He's going to need a miracle couple of results before the end of the year and even then I doubt he's going to get another chance.
And yet, Spain has two races (and America will have two races) when the UK does not. Bernie Ecclstone justified a second race in Spain by wanting to capitalise on the popularity of Fernando Alonso. You'd think he'd recognise the same thing here, even if only as a chance to make more money.
Bernie doesn't make money from ticket sales but from hosting fees. If no one has the money to host a race it doesn't happen, simple as that. So its not a case of Bernie recognising it or allowing it but more a case of no one really coming to him with an offer.
Not to mention in Spain, Valencia I believe is funded by the local government. Fat chance of that happening overhere (though more stupid decisions on spending have been made).
Silverstone is the only suitable circuit though.
Donington could have its upgrades completed. A street circuit is not out of the question and if someone turned up with a crap load of money maybe someone could build a brand new circuit.
